Time to Change
Hometown
For me, who ended up with the completely unexpected Class of 『Stray Bandit』, what I
need to do from here on out is decided. Take action so I don't repeat the same
thing. This is the only way.
Once I reach Level 20, I can acquire a Sub-class next. And although it's
way in the future, it seems I can become an Advanced Class once I reach
Level 50. To make absolutely sure I don't get a Class like [Something]
Bandit or [Something] Thief next time, I have to take measures right away.
It'll be too late to regret it later. I must strike early!
In other words, I need to move my base from the Higashi-Nakano
Dungeon, where mountain stages continue on and on. It's already a must.
In terms of the Dungeon's environment, mountains are already out
of the question, but I should probably also avoid Dungeons where the
main stages are caves, forests, or ruins, which have the image of bandits being
there.
Also, I hate Dungeons with a lot of gross monsters like
zombie-types or insect-types. Since the experience points needed to level up
are ridiculously high, I have to defeat a ton of monsters, so I can't
compromise on this either.
While I'm at it, I don't want to get hit on, so a place that isn't
crowded as much as possible would be good. As for other things, that's fine for
now.
「So with that
being said, do you know any nice-feeling Dungeons?」
I asked the usual bored-looking Onee-san at the deserted
late-night Dungeon Administration.
「Aoi-chan, does that mean you won't come to this Higashi-Nakano Dungeon
anymore? Don't say such sad things.」
「No, no. I
won't enter the Dungeon, but I'll come to exchange magic stones for
cash. That's fine, right?」
「Ah, so
that's how it is. It's actually not really good to just do cash exchanges,
though. Well, it's not prohibited.」
Since the magic stones I get are all high-quality, I want to keep it
hidden from other guys as much as possible. Troublesome guys who would
absolutely try to use me will surely pop up. That's why I want to limit showing
my magic stones to just this Onee-san in charge of the night shift, or
the ossan in charge of the day shift. From my short association with
them so far, I know that these people at the Higashi-Nakano Dungeon Administration
won't leak my secrets.
Trustworthy existences and the depopulated Higashi-Nakano Dungeon
were extremely convenient and handy for me. If I could, I really wouldn't want
to go out of my way to change bases, but it can't be helped for the sake of my
future Class. Because I'm a splendid adult woman brimming with ambition
aiming for the top. I'm quite something myself. Yup.
「Not good,
why? It's the same wherever I exchange them, right.」
「Because it
relates to the business performance of each Dungeon Administration. If
the performance is good, the facilities get renewed, the number of staff
increases, and the services get better. So it's not unrelated to Hunters
either, you see.」
「Ooh, so
that's how it was. But if it's just the amount I bring in, it won't have much
of an impact, right.」
「That's not
true. You see, the Higashi-Nakano Dungeon has few people, so...」
According to common sense, no matter how many monsters I defeat and get
magic stones from, in the end, it's just the amount one person can bring in. In
a popular Dungeon in the city center, I'd think that amount is just a
margin of error, but certainly, in this Higashi-Nakano Dungeon, it might
be an income that can't be made light of.
If a Dungeon that meets the conditions I seek is depopulated,
I'll think about what to do then. First are the Dungeon candidates to
serve as my new base.
「Anyway, tell
me some nice-feeling Dungeons. Put not being far from Higashi-Nakano
in the conditions too, since I have to exchange magic stones.」
「Ehh, the
candidates are steadily decreasing~.」
Onee-san faced the terminal at hand and, despite making a
difficult face, searched for candidates that met my demands. I appreciate it.
While I had her search while making small talk for a while, Onee-san let
go of the terminal.
「Hmm, there
don't seem to be any places nearby that match the conditions. In particular, no
mountains, forests, or caves from the middle layers onwards is strict. To begin
with, the uncrowded ones in the city center are all Dungeons with lots
of insect-type monsters. Can't you loosen the conditions a little more?」
「The stages
from the middle layers onwards are an absolute condition, so it's a no-go. If I
get a bandit-type Class again, I'm seriously done for. I hate bugs, too.
Well, in my case it's a solo Dungeon anyway, so I guess I can endure the
Administration being crowded. How about that?」
If I can compromise on something, it's only that much. If this doesn't
work, I might just have to give up on being near Higashi-Nakano.
「If you don't
mind it being crowded, there's the Kagurazaka Dungeon.」
Come to think of it, that place was a Dungeon that looked like an
Edo-period townscape. The townscape wasn't ruins, and the monsters were nothing
but skeleton-types. If I don't mind the overall horror vibe, it certainly might
fit my conditions.
「Is that
place an Edo-period-like Dungeon all the way down through the lower
layers too? And only skeleton-type monsters?」
「Basically,
it seems so. At least down to the Forty-Eighth Floor.」
「Heh, sounds
good.」
「Sounds good,
what does?」
Onee-san, who made a disgusted face, seems to be having a
terrible misunderstanding. I don't have a hobby of adoring skeletons, you know.
「It's just
that moving from Dungeon to Dungeon is a pain. If it's a Dungeon
where mountains and stuff never appear, I won't need to change to another one,
and I can concentrate on it.」
「You're still
on the Tenth Floor, but you're already thinking about the lower layers?」
「What are you
saying, you have to act with an eye to the future.」
Whoops, hold on, let's calm down and think for a second.
The Kagurazaka Dungeon is an environment where old townscape
stages continue. By continuously fighting here, there seems to be a possibility
that it'll be easier to get a certain kind of Class. And the fact that
the subjugated monsters are heavily skewed toward skeleton-types might also
affect the Class.
「What's
wrong, Aoi-chan? Suddenly deep in thought.」
「I just want
to confirm something, but do the guys diving in the Kagurazaka Dungeon
often end up with Japanese-style Classes or something?」
「Ah, that
does happen. Whether it's to match the Dungeon or not, there are many Hunters
who use katanas, so as for Classes, things like Samurai, Ronin, and
Ninja might be common. I've even seen Classes like Miko (Shrine Maiden)
and Onmyoji, and among famous Hunters, there's even someone who became a
Samurai General. Do you know of a person called the Foolhardy Samurai General?」
I don't. But I see. If you use Japanese-style weapons in a
Japanese-style Dungeon, I can understand that it'd be easier to get a
Japanese-style Class. But katanas against skeletons? Blunt weapons seem
like they'd have better compatibility, though. I wonder if appearance and
hobbies take priority. Ah, I wonder if they're thinking about the Class
they'll get like me. A swordsman really is cool, after all.
「Setting
aside samurai, what about bandits, thieves, or brigands? Are there a lot of Hunters
who got those kinds of Classes?」
「I think
they're exceedingly rare. You can check various people on the Hunter
Rankings, but I've never seen a bandit. At the very least, there shouldn't
be any among the top-ranking Hunters.」
Heeh, is that so. It might be a surprisingly rare Class. Not that
I'm happy about it. Anyway, it seemed the probability of getting a weird Class
was low. I'm totally okay with a Japanese-style Class. A Super Hero
Samurai, a Light Princess Warrior, or a Dark Cosmic Ninja are totally fine.
As long as no problems arise, maybe I'll try attacking the Kagurazaka
Dungeon for a while.
Alright, my base has been decided. Kagurazaka has a lot of people, so I'd like to make some Hunter friends while I'm at it~.
