[WN] Shut-In : Chapter 115

Chapter 115

Fortress

Translator : PolterGlast

The day after celebrating the successful negotiations with Miku over a glass of wine, we decided to return to the kingdom to gather information about our classmates, having cured our hangovers with Cure.

Since we had obtained permission to bring everyone with us, we could now bring them to the empire whenever we wanted.

However, just as we were about to set out to confirm everyone's intentions, we received a summons from Empress Emilia.

It was an invitation to a tea party, to have a chat.

To improve our standing, it would be unwise to refuse the Empress's invitation.

Although I was the one invited, it was mentioned that I could bring Miku along.

So, I assumed Miku would come with me as usual, but...

"Ah, could you take me to the royal castle of the Grust Kingdom? There's something I need to discuss with Alice."

"The royal castle? Sure, no problem."

Apparently, Miku intended to do various things through Princess Alicia.

Indeed, it would be a waste of time if both of us were confined, so it would be better for her to do things on her own.

"See you later."

"Yeah, I'll come pick you up later."

After acting as Miku's chauffeur (posthumously), I left Princess Alicia's room and departed from Grisnia.

Checking the time, it was still before noon.

The tea party was scheduled for three o'clock, so I had some time to spare.

(Oh, that's right. I completely forgot about Mitsukawa-kun.)

Since I had some free time, I thought I might head to the front line.

I was thinking of putting it all together and talking about it later, but Akira-kun was often sent to the front line, so there was a chance our rescue operation wouldn't coincide with his availability.

I had been prioritizing bringing our classmates to the empire, so I had put it off, but I hoped he wouldn't be angry.

If I remember correctly, Mitsukawa-kun was at... Fort Castilla, wasn't it?

I had wanted to see the front line, so this was a good opportunity.

Might as well participate in the battle.

To get to the fort, I realized that my [Home] did not have any locations registered in the northern part of the kingdom.

Ah, that's right.

In that case, I decided to go there as a rehearsal for bringing our classmates to the empire.

After discussing it with Miku, we agreed that it was best not to reveal the power of [Home] to our classmates.

You never know where information might leak, and if they found out about the refresh and training room functions after entering the house, it was easy to imagine a future where we would be used as an automatic food production and soldier factory.

I didn't want them to have too high expectations for my gift.

I would help them live peacefully, but I wanted them to handle the rest on their own.

So, when we sent them to the empire, we would do so without using [Home].

I had two methods in mind. One was to have everyone ride on a giant board and carry them by running.

However, while this would work for transportation, everyone on top would likely become nauseous.

Since I didn't want to proceed while they were vomiting, I preferred the other method—using continuous Jaunts.

Jaunt, when used for long-distance teleportation, consumed a significant amount of MP.

And the MP consumption increased when teleporting with companions.

Though teleporting 30 people at once would be tough on MP... I decided to give it a try for now.

In conclusion, it seemed feasible with breaks.

Currently, Jaunt's teleportation was limited to visually perceivable areas. However, using Perception to grasp the area beyond walls or hidden places could cover some distance.

Well, in the hero stories here, there were people who could travel anywhere, so I hoped for that in the future.

Therefore, when using Jaunt to cover the distance, I needed to choose high-altitude spots with a clear view and teleport as far as possible.

This consumed about 15 MP. Teleporting all the classmates at once would require about 150 MP.

The MP consumption might improve if my AoE Casting skill level increased, but since I had mostly fought alone, I hadn't used it much, so it couldn't be helped.

Thanks to my MP recovery skill, I could recover 3 MP per minute.

So, I could recover the spent MP in about fifty minutes.

My current MP had increased to about 3650.

If I used continuous Jaunts to cover distance and shake off pursuers in the early stages, and then took breaks or slept to recover MP, I could probably reach the empire in less than a day.

It might be a tough journey, but I had to convince them that staying in the kingdom would be even worse.

Anyway, I had arrived in the northern part of the kingdom... and it was a barren wasteland.

There were no proper roads, probably to prevent demons from using them, and only paths trampled by military boots.

According to the map, it should be visible soon... ah, is that it?

I saw a fort-like building made of stone, emitting magical energy.

There were no soldiers outside... was Mitsukawa-kun inside?

It was still daytime, so I was a little worried about using shadows, but like in the royal castle, there were plenty of shadows inside buildings.

I decided to use Shadow Dive and Wind Search to find Mitsukawa-kun.

The fort was relatively simple.

It seemed designed for easy transport of supplies, and I could move through it without much difficulty.

Perhaps Fort Castilla was designed for monsters and demons rather than humans.

The interior space was quite large, with rooms containing bunk beds. It didn't feel cramped despite being inside a fort.

Perhaps the low number of injured soldiers was due to the efforts of the Holy Church's healers.

As I proceeded inside, I quickly found Mitsukawa-kun.

I found him in a private room that seemed to be for someone with a certain status.

"Yo."

"...If it isn't Kazuno. It's been a while. I thought you had forgotten about me."

"Ah, haha..."

Since I had indeed forgotten about him, I gave a vague laugh.

When I tried to smooth things over with a smile, Mitsukawa-kun didn't bother to hide his exasperation.
