074 Anger

Before my eyes, the
Duke was holding his head. Does he have a headache? You have to take care of
your body.
"Whose fault do
you think this is...?" he murmured. Ah, yes. It's my fault. My apologies.
"I understand the
gist of it. The summoned individuals have sought protection from Baron
Footscythel," the Duke stated, rubbing his temples. He's tired.
"Yes, the country
has treated them very well, and they seem to have no complaints about that, but
the fact that they were forcibly summoned still seems to bother them deep
down," I explained. It all depends on how you say it. It's a matter of who
speaks first, after all. Since the country literally abducted them with the
summoning, and we didn't know we could refuse the summoning, and the country
probably doesn't know we knew either, given the Princess's apologetic
expression.
"I can understand
their feelings... I will coordinate with Her Royal Highness the Princess,"
the Duke conceded.
"Thank you,"
I replied. It's good to have connections with powerful people. If I hadn't been
ennobled, I couldn't use these connections. I should make the most of the
connections I have!
I didn't care much
about Yamato, but I should think a little about Itsukushima-san. I sincerely
wanted to thank her for being so happy that I was alive.

Once I had calmed
down, I told Anneliese and the others about my true identity.
"Master is also
an otherworlder, just like the Heroes..." Anneliese murmured. It's Toi,
not Master. It's a shocking revelation, but it's fine.
"I understood
that Master was abnormal, but to think you were an otherworlder Hero..."
Gandarvan began.
"I'm not a
Hero," I interjected. I have the Reincarnated Hero job, but I'm definitely
not a Hero. I refused to become a Hero in the first place. Yet, having the job
is nothing but a landmine. I'll secretly level it up, but I'll never use it in
public.
"Needless to say,
do not reveal that I am a reincarnated individual. It's a secret," I
instructed. Everyone nodded, and Gandarvan shook his head, saying,
"There's no way I could do such a thing..." It was probably just my
imagination that Gandarvan seemed to have aged. Yeah, it's just my imagination.
Everyone left, leaving
only Anneliese and me.
"I'm sorry for
keeping it from you," I apologized.
"It's not
something you could easily say. I think it's natural, so please don't
apologize," Anneliese replied. I put my arm around her shoulder. She
rested her head on my shoulder.
Thank you for
accepting me.

Since it seemed there
was time until I heard from the Duke, I decided to enter the dungeon. This
would be my umpteenth time in the royal capital's dungeon.
"You!?"
someone shrieked. It was the guy Anneliese rejected before.
"Oh, if it isn't
Guriguri-san," I quipped.
"It's
Grissom!" he corrected. I know, I did it on purpose. Grissom seemed to
have just exited the dungeon with five party members. He smelled terrible.
"Hmph. No matter
how many small fry gather, they're still just small fry. Just try your best not
to die!" Grissom, rejected by Anneliese, was an incredibly irritating guy.
I didn't have a good impression of him to begin with, but he was the worst.
Alright, today I'll
thoroughly examine Grissom with Detailed Appraisal.
"..." This
guy, I'll kill him!
"!?
H-hieee!" Grissom whimpered.
"M-Master!?"
Gandarvan exclaimed, grabbing my arms from both sides, and holding me in a full
nelson hold.
"Please calm
down, Master," Gandarvan urged.
"Gandarvan...
this one, this one alone..." I tried to say.
"While that individual's
language is extremely rude to a Baron like yourself, Master, cutting him down
would tarnish Master's name," Gandarvan explained. That's not it, that's
not... This guy did something to Anneliese...
"You too, don't
anger Master! You don't want to die, do you? Get out of here!" Gandarvan
warned Grissom.
"H-hieee!"
Grissom, whose legs had given out from my killing intent, crawled away.
"Let go,
Gandarvan," I demanded.
"I cannot,"
he replied.
" " "
" Master, please calm down! " " " " Everyone
surrounded me, trying to stop me.
"Toi-sama. Please
calm down."
"I am... calm,
Anneliese," I replied. Yes, I was calm. And on top of that, I had decided
to kill that guy.
"What in the
world happened?" Gandarvan asked.
"He... no,
nothing," I replied, deciding this wasn't the place to talk about it.
"Gandarvan. I'm
calm. Release me," I insisted.
"Are you truly
alright?" Gandarvan asked cautiously.
"I'm fine,"
I affirmed. Gandarvan relaxed his grip and released me.
Since there were other
explorers around, we decided to move to a private place.
"For such a minor
incident, what in the world happened? The Master I know would normally just
calmly brush it off..." Gandarvan asked, sighing, as I sat in a private
room of a nearby restaurant, trying to calm myself with herbal tea.
That Grissom, as
mentioned before, was rejected by Anneliese. That's for sure. But after that,
he did something unforgivable. When he realized Anneliese wouldn't be his, he
cursed Anneliese amidst the confusion.
The curse that turned
Anneliese into an old woman wasn't a dungeon trap; it was Grissom's curse. And
that wasn't all. Anneliese, afflicted by the curse, was trying to find a way to
lift it through research, but that bastard blew up her workshop. As a result,
Anneliese was turned into a slave, and accused of causing an accident. I would
never forgive him. I would absolutely send him to hell.
When I used Detailed
Appraisal on Anneliese, I only knew that she was "cursed in the
dungeon" and her "workshop exploded." It seemed that what
Anneliese didn't perceive herself wouldn't appear in Detailed Appraisal. That's
why it only said she was cursed in the dungeon and her workshop exploded.
"That Grissom
fellow was from a Count's house, wasn't he?" I asked.
"Yes. I heard
he's the fourth son of the Erbasil Count's house," Gandarvan replied.
"Does he live in
that Erbasil Count's mansion?"
"He was given a
separate residence and should be living there," Gandarvan explained.
I asked Anneliese
about Grissom and then told everyone that today's exploration was canceled.
"Canceling is
fine, but... please, don't go and kill that man Grissom," Gandarvan
pleaded.
"It's alright,
Gandarvan. I'll send him to hell, but I won't kill him," I promised.
"...May I ask the
reason why you are so angry?" Gandarvan asked cautiously.
"I'll tell you
eventually. Just don't ask now," I replied.
I finished my herbal
tea and sent everyone back to the mansion. I went alone to the mansion where
Grissom supposedly lived. It was located a little away from the noble district
of the royal capital, but it was quite a large mansion. It seemed even bigger
than my mansion in Kerniff.
Grissom's job was
Debuff Sorcerer. His level was 32. Quite high. His party members were also around
Level 30, so they could probably hunt stably on the 6th floor. They might
struggle on the 7th floor, but it was within reach if they pushed themselves a
little. This meant he was probably earning a lot, so he had the financial means
to maintain such a large mansion.
I circled the mansion
to confirm its location. There are other mansions around, but his was the
largest among them. It was a waste of a mansion on him.
I slipped into the
shadows, changed my main job to Assassin, and activated Stealth. I used Wall
Pass to slip through the fence and entered the garden. The garden was poorly
maintained, with weeds growing rampant. Mondark would probably go mad if he saw
it.
I slipped through the
wall of the main building and entered. It was a large mansion, but there wasn't
much sign of people. Still, it wasn't completely empty.
I proceeded, checking
each room, and found Grissom hosting a banquet in what looked like a living
room. Besides Grissom, there were five party members and six slaves.
It was a sickening
sight. Grissom had a party of six, three men and three women, and each of them
had a sex slave. The slaves looked terrible; both male and female were stark
naked. They appeared to be forced into sexual acts.
All six slaves were
voluntary slaves. They had not consented to sexual acts, but they were confined
to the mansion and forced to perform them. Not just Grissom, but all the other
party members were also trash. Anger surged within me.
I would make these
guys see hell. I searched the mansion for evidence to do so. Seeing such a
sight made me feel sick. It was the worst.
