Capital Dungeon 9th Floor Exploration

Lilith's dungeon
exploration seems to be going smoothly.
Her Saintess job has
apparently reached Level 12. I thought it was power-leveling, but it seems that
Patricia, Lilith, and the explorer Jonaminus are primarily handling the combat.
Sodon apparently
participates in combat occasionally, but he and the porter Sasha are mainly on
perimeter guard duty.
Annelise and Rosalina
are just supervising and don't get involved.
However, a Saintess
and a Holy Forgiver on the front lines... that's a surreal sight.
Well, Patricia makes
sense. After all, she's a dragonewt with a club—an unstoppable force. But I'm
surprised Lilith is also swinging a double mace.
Lilith doesn't have
much attack power, but she apparently skillfully uses her mace to block monster
attacks.
Conversely, Patricia
seems to swing her club, dealing massive damage if it connects.
Jonaminus apparently
provides support with his bow.
Well, if it works,
then it's fine.
"I think Lilith
has excellent combat sense."
Annelise praised
someone's combat sense, which is rare for her. All I remember is being
criticized...
About half a month
passed in this manner, and I finally finished off the paperwork.
Gandarvan was quite
fed up too, so how about some dungeon exploration for a change of pace!
And so, here we are,
on the 9th floor of the Royal Capital Dungeon.
This floor has
mountains, valleys, and grasslands, giving it a natural feel. A refreshingly
gentle breeze even blows, swaying the grass and flowers. It's a pastoral scene.
"It's quite the
contrast, isn't it?"
It's the complete
opposite of the dimly lit 8th floor, with sunlight pouring down. It feels like
the gentle sunlight of a pleasant spring day.
"I feel like
taking a nap."
"Please don't.
This is a dungeon."
Gandarvan is as
serious as ever. I know that much.
The first monster that
appeared was a Golem. Not a wood or rock Golem, but a metal Golem. A Golem that
emitted a dull gleam.
"Why is there a Golem
in a plain like this?"
I think monsters like
wolves, horses, or birds would fit the image better.
I grumbled, thinking
it should appear on the 8th floor, which is a cave.
"There's no point
complaining about the types of monsters in a dungeon."
"Well, yeah, but
still..."
I envy Gandarvan's
seriousness.
Today's party consists
of the main members: me, Gandarvan, Annelise, Rosalina, Barth, Jojok, Lin, and
Solidia.
Colon and Caron are
each leading their slave parties in exploration. Lilith and Patricia are on
mansion guard duty today.
"Iron Golem.
Level 47. It's an iron Golem, so it's tough. Its weakness is fire."
It has resistance to
both physical and magical attacks and is tough, but having a weakness means
it's exploitable. And it's particularly unlucky that its weakness is fire,
Annelise's specialty.
"Fire!"
Annelise's magic
started the battle, and then it was just a matter of hitting it!
It was three meters
tall and wide, but its movements were reasonably nimble.
But Gandarvan kept its
aggro fixed, allowing for stable hunting.
"It's an
item..."
The drop item was a
lump of metal.
"This isn't
iron... is it? Silver?"
Not gold. It's silver
or a silver-colored metal.
Detailed Appraisal
showed it was a lump of pure silver. A 3-kilogram silver ingot.
"Silver, huh?
That's... underwhelming."
Annelise lowered her
eyebrows.
Hmm, the appraisal
showed a purchase price of 30,000 Grill. If you think of it as 300,000 yen,
it's decent, but the 8th floor is more profitable.
"Forget the money
for now, we're aiming for the 10th floor. The hazard pay will be lower, but
bear with it."
When the purchase
price is low, everyone's hazard pay also decreases. We just need to reach the
10th floor quickly, so they'll have to bear with it.
"While our lord's
sense of money might be a bit off, please rest assured that we are receiving
sufficient allowances."
"Huh, is my sense
of money off?"
I think I have a
perfectly normal sense of money.
"I earn more than
a mediocre baron, you know."
Uh... a baron receives
an annual salary of 12 million Grill. Gandarvan receives 5 percent of the
purchase price of items obtained in the dungeon as hazard pay.
Just from looping the
8th-floor boss, the purchase price was 145 million Grill. 5 percent of that
is... 7.25 million Grill. He earned more than half of a baron's annual salary!
Well, no wonder he's richer than a baron.
The next Iron Golem
dropped a lump of iron... and only 1 kilogram. Hey, are you kidding me? An Iron
Golem at Level 48 dropping a lump of iron is unbelievable! No, wait, since it's
an Iron Golem, is it natural for iron to drop? I'm losing my motivation here...
As we continued
hunting Iron Golems, we realized that the variety of dropped items was diverse.
Drop items included
iron, copper, silver, and gold. Their weight varied each time, as did their
value.
It also dropped B-rank
magic stones. These are quite valuable.
Furthermore, it
dropped jewels. In any case, there's a wide variety of drop items.
We'd be disappointed
when iron or copper dropped, but then rejoice when a jewel appeared.
However, some jewels
were cheap, around 100,000 Grill, while others were expensive, up to 2.5
million. The range is too wide; it's a floor where you can't calculate earnings
easily.
We pressed on and
descended into a valley. The valley was about 100 meters deep. Only a faint
amount of sunlight reached the bottom.
"I have a feeling
that one will be valuable, my lord."
"Yeah, it's
glowing even in the dim light at the bottom of the valley."
A Mithril Golem.
I had expected copper,
silver, or gold after iron. I knew it might appear eventually, but Mithril
actually showed up. While it feels a bit early for its appearance, I wonder
what kind of item it will drop.
"That one boasts
a toughness superior to iron!"
"Meaning it's a
worthy opponent for battle, isn't it? Hahaha."
I gave the command to
everyone, "Go all out!", and I too began to slash with my magic
sword, Salman.
As we all pounded on
it, the Mithril Golem spun like a top. Gandarvan was flung away by the
centrifugal force, but he had defended himself well, so he seemed to take
almost no damage.
Annelise's magic,
Fire, enveloped its massive body.
"Oh my..."
The Fire spell was
repelled. It seemed to have been extinguished.
"That spinning is
annoying."
"With that
massive body spinning, it's indeed difficult to stop."
Gandarvan seemed at a
loss as well.
Is there any good way
to attack it?
"Annelise, can
you restrain it?"
"I'll try...
Earth Bind!"
Earth tried to wrap
around the Mithril Golem, but it was repelled by its spinning, preventing
restraint.
"What a
troublesome fellow..."
If Bind doesn't
work... could we stop its spinning by burying it in the ground?
"Annelise. Can
you open a hole at its feet? Deep enough so that its upper body, from the chest
up, is exposed."
"Yes. Hole!"
A hole opened directly
beneath the Mithril Golem, and it fell.
Then, earth appeared,
filling the hole around it.
"Oh, the spinning
stopped!"
Confusion seemed to
emanate from the Mithril Golem, buried in the ground with only its upper body
exposed.
"Everyone,
now!"
" "
"Alright!" " "
Since we could
concentrate our attacks on its head, the battle ended quickly. It wasn't even a
fight. This is a cheap trick. Though it literally got trapped (laughs).
"From now on, if
a Mithril Golem appears, just bury it."
"Understood."
Annelise is as cute as
ever. And beautiful. She's mine, after all.
"So, what's the
item?"
"It's here."
Barth brought over a
dark green lump. It was something not found among the Iron Golem's dropped
items.
Detailed Appraisal,
it's your turn!
What is this... demon
iron, huh? Iron containing magic power, weighing 1 kilogram. Its value is a
surprising 250,000 Grill. It's more expensive than gold, but cheaper than the C-rank
magic stones we get in large quantities on the 8th floor. It's... mediocre.
