[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 101

Chapter 101

Graham Call

Translator : PolterGlast

The fourth match ended with an easy victory for [White Phoenix], hardly worth mentioning.

Their difference in skill was clear, and on top of that, [Crimson Rose]'s movements seemed considerably worse after their loss to us.

At the pathetic defeat, Guanza's face was red enough to burst with rage, but it seemed he couldn't get angry after the spectacular way I had beaten him, and he was just grinding his teeth.

I couldn't hear his unpleasant voice anymore; I'm glad I taught him a proper lesson.

"Next up is... [Battenberg] and [Sakura Nostra], I guess?"

"That's what I thought, but—Salis is calling for me."

When I looked, she was looking at me and beckoning. Maybe our match is next.

I went over to Salis as she called and asked what was going on.

"Graham, sorry, but do you think you can go for the next match?"

"I can, but... did something happen?"

"Actually, Duke from [Battenberg] is throwing a tantrum or something, so it seems it'll be difficult for them to have their match next."

"Throwing a tantrum? Heh, I thought he was mature for his age, but it seems he has a childish side after all."

"It's no laughing matter. This might mean you'll have to fight two matches in a row."

If [Battenberg] doesn't return, does that mean it will be [Sakura Nostra] and then immediately [White Phoenix]?

I have zero fatigue, and I'm confident I won't have a hard time with [Sakura Nostra], so it should be fine.

"I don't mind. I'm not tired at all."

"Fufu, I'm sure you're not. An overwhelming victory in every match, contrary to my expectations. Your only real opponent is [White Phoenix]—oops, I should stop showing favoritism before a match."

Salis cutely covered her mouth.

After seeing my fights so far, I'm sure that from an outside perspective, it doesn't look like I could lose to [Sakura Nostra].

"In any case, I've accepted the next match. I'll go get the other two."

"Sorry... but I'm counting on you."

I raised my hand in response to Salis, who had bowed her head, and returned to my group.

"It seems it's our match. Are you two ready?"

"Of course, we are! We haven't even fought yet!"

"Yeah! You're just going to take care of the next match by yourself too, right, Graham?"

"That's the plan, but you never know what will happen."

When I looked over at [Sakura Nostra], they were glaring at me, full of fighting spirit.

As long as they haven't lost their will to fight, you never know what will happen.

"Well then, we will begin the fifth match. Are both parties ready?"

"Yeah, we're ready."

"Anytime's fine by me."

"Then the fifth match—begin!"

At Salis's signal, the five skinheads charged at me all at once.

The sight was quite a spectacle; there's a certain fear that comes from five burly bald men rushing at you.

I could end this with a flying slash before they get close, but... I want a complete victory against [Sakura Nostra] too.

I intentionally drew the five of them in and began to parry their coordinated attacks.

Two with axes, one with a greatsword, then a morning star and a hammer; they were all swinging large weapons.

They were covering for the slowness of their movements with coordination, but there's no way their attacks will land.

As I dodged the skinheads' attacks with fancy footwork, the cheers gradually grew louder.

The cheers grew even louder as I aimed for last-second dodges, and perhaps from the strangeness of their attacks not landing and the explosive cheers, a sense of discomfort began to set in, and the coordination of [Sakura Nostra] began to fall apart.

"Damn it! Why can't we hit him!!"

"Go faster!"

"Hey, don't mess up the timing! You idiot!"

Angry shouts flew between the teammates, and their once perfectly coordinated movements instantly became disjointed, leaving them full of openings in the blink of an eye.

Once it's come to this... there's no need to drag out the match.

I cut down the two whose movements had overlapped, and then immediately lopped off the head of the man with the hammer who had lunged forward.

All that remains are the man with the morning star and the man with the greatsword, but...

Having suddenly become a pair, they were completely intimidated and unable to move.

I was planning on cutting them down with a counter, but if they're not going to move, I guess I'll attack from my end.

I sent a flying slash and cut down the two frozen skinheads.

They were enveloped in particles of light in an instant, and [Sakura Nostra] disappeared from the dungeon.

Because I had put on a show, the cheers were the loudest they've been so far, and a "Graham" chant erupted from the adventurers who had been watching.

Feeling a little embarrassed, I raised my hand in response to the cheers.

"The winners are Graham, Ginia, and Aoi!"

The cheers were starting to die down as I raised my hand, but they erupted again at Salis's winner announcement, and I returned to the Guild Masters and the others, shrinking back slightly.
