New Year's Special: Release of Setting Materials
Translator : PolterGlast
Happy New Year to everyone. Thank you very much for your
support and extraordinary encouragement throughout 2022 and 2023.
Until now, I haven't been able to express my gratitude in
any way other than words, but to make it a little easier to read, I would like
to gradually release setting materials from now on. Since these are handmade
materials created in PowerPoint, I would appreciate your tolerance for any
unsightly aspects, but I hope they will help you imagine the worldview and
scenes even a little.
The story of war has been continuing for a long time, but
there is only a little left. After that, we will shift to a story in a new
world, and beyond that, I believe I have prepared a development that is typical
of my style.
I look forward to your continued support this year as well.
Setting Materials: Terrain
Information
1. Baron Solis Territory (Estol
Territory)
A territory granted to Knight Solis for military
exploits in the war against the Empire that occurred in Kyle Year 488.
The previous lord was Baron Abelt, a sworn friend of Margrave Hastburg
(who had not yet succeeded the title at the time).
Est is the
center of the territory, which holds four other towns and 25 villages (as of Kyle
Year 496). The population is about 7,000, and the territory stretches
significantly from north to south. While the Estol Territory is vast for
a barony—surpassing viscounties in scale and approaching the size of central
earldoms—it is on the frontier, so there is much undeveloped land, and the
scale of each town itself is small.
Overview of Estol Territory as of
Kyle Year 496
- Est: Population 1,800. The primary city where commerce
(agricultural product trading, mineral and iron product trading)
flourishes.
- Mars: Population 700. A town that arose newly with farmland
development. Developed as a collection point for the granary region
spreading around it.
- Fran: Population 700. A town built by reconstructing old
ruins. Bustling as a relay point for mines and a city of the night.
- Phobos: Population 500. Surrounded by fertile earth and many
farming villages; was an agricultural collection point before the rise of Mars.
- Deimos: Population 400. Located on the border with the
Viscount Hiyorimi territory; has become desolate in recent years
due to lack of interaction with the neighboring territory.
- Ale
Village: Population 150. Although
distant from the granary region, barley (alcohol) production is prominent,
making it a core village.
> Note: Teigoon was initially a settlement that
didn't even amount to a frontier village rather than a town.
After Chris married in from the Baron Cornell
family, development proceeded in two locations: the granary region around Mars
and the mines producing iron in the southwest of the territory. These have
become the economic driving force supporting the Estol Territory.
At the southern tip of the territory, beyond a bamboo
forest, a dense great forest called the vast Demon Territory spreads
out. Further beyond that, an impassable great mountain range, which surrounds
the Kyle Kingdom on three sides, links its peaks.

2. Kyle Kingdom
The Kyle Kingdom is bordered by a great mountain
range on three sides. Only the north side consists of open plains, where a
river flowing from the great mountain range through the kingdom forms the
border. It borders four countries. Excluding the north, the only passable
borders with the neighboring countries to the south, east, and west are valleys
where the great mountain range breaks slightly.
The Kingdom's population is said to be 3 million, but since
there is no family registry system and population statistics are not taken, the
actual population is said to be around 4 million.
There are about 250 noble families with domains, but more
than half are of the lowest rank, Baronies. Except for those on the frontier or
those possessing unique industries or mines, their territories are small and
their influence is negligible. Since the Kingdom's founding, potential enemy
nations (threats) were considered to be in the south, so the Demon Territory,
serving as a buffer zone, was neglected for many years and remained the most
undeveloped area.
For that reason, the noble territories on the southernmost
frontier all possess vast lands compared to the central regions.

3. Teigoon Overview Map
Mt. Teigoon is located in the southeast of the Estol
Territory. It is a mountain with exceptionally high altitude and a broad base;
its majesty can be seen even from the border. Small-scale mountain ranges
spread out on both southern borders of each lord (Solis, Hiyorimi,
Gorman), separating the Demon Territory, but Mt. Teigoon
stands out prominently in altitude and scale.
Long ago, in the founding period of the Kingdom, it seems to
have been named "Fixed Army Mountain" (Teigun-zan), but as time
passed, the history was forgotten, and the name is said to have changed
slightly. It towers over both the Baron Solis territory and the Viscount
Hiyorimi territory. Basically, it has many steep cliffs impossible to
climb, refusing human entry. However, only on the west side, beyond a narrow
pass threading between cliffs leading to precipices and valleys, a gently
sloping alluvial fan spreads out. The western edge of this alluvial fan becomes
a steep cliff again, leading to the valley.
The town of Teigoon was constructed at the top of
this alluvial fan, a place with abundant spring water from the mountain
collection area. It is a town surrounded by moats on three sides, measuring
1.4km east-west and 1km north-south. Surrounded by narrow passes at both exits,
it was called a natural fortress, but the soil of the grassland spreading over
the gentle alluvial fan was unsuitable for cultivating grains, so development
and settlement were postponed.
In the town of Teigoon, the First, Second, and Fourth
Districts have been leveled flat, and the resulting height differences serve as
partition walls for each tier. Only the Third District, the longest one, is
shaped like a gentle slope matching the incline, but few know the intention
behind this.
The entire alluvial fan of Teigoon will continue to
undergo development from here on, significantly changing its appearance.

Setting Materials: Formation
Information
1. Battle of Southern Gate (Kyle
Year 502) (Chapters 16-16)
The formation used when intercepting Margrave Goth of the Griffonia Imperial Kingdom, who crossed the
border to invade. Because the generals set up camp on hills suitable for
defense, it unintentionally became a Crane Wing formation.
In response, Margrave Goth
adopted a tactic of merely advancing his central and right-wing armies for
diversion, striking the enemy (Kyle Kingdom Army) right wing, trampling
the small force on the outermost edge with Iron Cavalry, and circling behind
the hill to strike Margrave Hastburg's main camp.
In reality, the Viscount Hiyorimi Army, facing an
enemy double their size, collapsed, and the Viscount Gorman Army,
inferior in numbers, was forced to retreat. Wary of the Iron Cavalry waiting in
the rear, other generals turned into idle soldiers unable to go for rescue.
However, the Iron Cavalry dispatched to deliver the finishing blow was beaten
by an insignificant small force, completely changing the tide of battle.

2. Teigoon Narrow Pass Decisive
Battle (Kyle Year 506) (Chapters 66-69)
When a large army led by the First Prince of the Griffonia
Imperial Kingdom invaded in force, hostilities opened with Marquis Bradley,
who received orders to attack Teigoon as a detached force. This is an
overhead view of the narrow pass decisive battle where this defensive battle unfolded.
Christoph
and others, who received the mission of defense from Takuhir, set up
defensive measures everywhere, turning this narrow pass into a death trap for
the Imperial Army.
- Collapsing
Bridge of Trap 1 Although Christoph
stood alone before the Imperial Army forces and challenged them, it is
said this was to buy a little time for Elan to activate the bridge
mechanism. In this precious time, Elan succeeded in the rigging,
and after each unit passed, it collapsed when the heaviest supply train
tried to pass last.
- Collapsing
Bridge of Trap 2 After the aforementioned
rigging was finished, Elan crawled up to the narrow pass from a
hidden passage in a position invisible to the Imperial Army, joined Christoph,
reversed down the narrow pass on horseback, descended into the hidden
passage again at the position of Collapsing Bridge 2, and collapsed it at
the timing when the Imperial Army's combat group was on the bridge.
- Fire
Stratagem Point Elan, having activated
Trap 2, proceeded through the hidden passage to the Demon Territory
side, joined Claire and the others who were waiting in advance, and
activated the fire stratagem from the Demon Territory side,
measuring the timing when bridges on both sides fell.
- Sniping
Point At the barrier gate, pedestals
were prepared in advance to fix crossbows in two types of firing angles
and directions, designed to allow direct fire capable of point sniping the
narrow pass exit, and curved fire to positions invisible around the cliff.
Command and control, including these launches, was conducted by Christoph,
who was on the lookout platform from where he could see Trap 1, the
Collapsing Bridge of Trap 2, and the narrow pass exit on the Demon
Territory side.
- Final
Means The water attack was activated
by water stored in the moat of the town of Teigoon flowing in all
at once through the waterways. It filled the triangular space in front of
the barrier gate with water, crushing the Imperial Army at once, but the
horses they accompanied were left between the narrow passes sandwiched by
the collapsed bridges, and many of the wounded soldiers who failed to
escape were left in the narrow pass on the barrier gate side before that.

3. Battle of Southern Gate Frontal
Confrontation (Kyle Year 506) (Chapters 74-75)
An overhead view showing the chronological progression of
the battle that began after the change in unit organization proposed by Takuhir
and others for the frontal confrontation on the Southern Gate Plain.
< Kyle Kingdom Army >
- Allied
Cavalry Army: 3,200 mounts (Margrave Hastburg,
Weiss, Dalek, Clan)
- Archer
Corps: 3,100 men (Baron Solis
Army, Viscount Kyrias Army, Viscount Gorman Army, Baron Cornell
Army, Second Cadet Knights)
- Noble
Alliance Army:
- Left Wing: 2,300 men (First Noble Alliance Army Count Goyoku),
2,200 men (Fourth Noble Alliance Army)
- Right Wing: 2,300 men (Second Noble Alliance Army),
2,200 men (Third Noble Alliance Army)
- Rear
Guard Unit: 2,400 men (Outside overhead
view)
(Chronology)
- The
Allied Cavalry Army led by Commander Weiss begins a charge as if to
collide head-on with the Iron Cavalry.
- Just
before collision, they make a sharp turn to the right, slip through, and
turn towards the enemy left wing direction.
- The
Iron Cavalry, unable to make sharp turns, pursues by making a large detour
around the battlefield, also with the intention of counter-encirclement.
- The
Allied Cavalry Army makes a sharp turn in front of the enemy left wing and
moves to the right wing side in front of the Imperial Army's battle line,
outside of range.
- The
Iron Cavalry also pursues, running parallel with a delay.
- The
Allied Cavalry Army makes another sharp turn in front of the enemy right
wing, moving towards their own camp.
- The
Iron Cavalry also turns with a delay, utilizing the advantage of interior
lines to bite at the rear of the Allied Cavalry Army.
- Dalek and Clan's Light Magic activates, stopping the
Iron Cavalry's legs for an instant.
- Threading
through that gap, the Archer Corps begins a volley from a distance the
enemy thought was out of range.
- While
the Iron Cavalry falls into chaos, the Allied Cavalry Army deploys left
and right and reverses, pressing the Iron Cavalry towards their own camp.
- Due
to the dust clouds raised by a total of 6,000 enemy and allied horses
crossing before their eyes, the Imperial Army side is delayed in grasping
the situation.
- Only
the Margrave Goth
Army on the extreme left of the Imperial Army, which had crossed first,
sees the light and begins to charge.
- Simultaneously,
the First Cadet Knights attack the confused Iron Cavalry from the outer
edge of the friendly right wing, plunging the battlefield into chaos.

4. Southern Front Confrontation with
Imperial Left Wing (Kyle Year 513) (Chapters 255-266)
The Imperial Army Left Wing dispersed into the main force
led by First Prince Glorious and the detached force led by Duke Harry.
While the main force attacked the fortress of Aegis, the detached force
exploited a gap in the Demon Territory Count Army's surveillance
network, cut a path through the mountainous area, and invaded towards the Ishtar
area. After pincering the barrier gate defended by Count Gorman, the
Defense of Ishtar began with the Iron Cavalry's parallel pursuit.

Thank you for reading until
the end. Although I received requests for map data and such previously, I
apologize for not being able to respond readily.
As reported in the end-of-year news, I am happy to say that
planning for a comic adaptation is currently in progress. In conjunction with that,
I was able to brush up on the setting materials I had created so far, so I have
posted a part of them.
Going forward, I hope to release several materials (maps of
territory distribution after the civil war, etc.) as opportunities arise.
Please note that the materials released this time are scheduled to be linked to
the corresponding chapters by the book release date. For those who see them for
the first time after linking, the content may be duplicative, but I hope you
will overlook that point.
Once again, I look forward to your continued support this year.
