Vigilance

party, I immediately headed to the Adventurer's Guild. From here, the plan is
to head to the Old Abandoned Road with the Guild Master and introduce Bane.
Because I ended up being a little late for the meeting time, I hurried to the
Guild Master's office.
「Guild Master, I'm sorry. I'm late.」
「You don't need to worry about it.

as far as it would go. It seems there's a lot of verification work, and the job
of a Guild Master looks tougher than I imagined.
「Alright, I'm done. I can depart
anytime too. Can I ask you to lead the way?」
「Of course. I'll guide you, so follow
me.」
Walking ahead as if to guide the Guild Master, we departed Biodasdal
and headed for the Old Abandoned Road. Since I had informed Bane in
advance that we were coming, he should handle things well. Or so I thought,

「H-Hey! Graham-san, what in
the world is that!?」
Upon entering the abandoned road, more than ten Ghost
Wizards were standing in a line. They were resting on one knee for the time
being, and it looked like they were showing loyalty, but from the Guild

us.
「Guild Master, you don't need to draw
your sword. They are subordinates of the monster named Bane that I told
you about the other day.」
「H-He has that many Ghost Wizards
under his command!? I don't mean to doubt you, but is there any chance you're
being deceived, Graham-san?」

closely, I think you'll see they harbor no hostility.」
I calmed down the excited Guild Master and told him to just
observe the situation for a moment. The Ghost Wizards weren't moving at all,
and more importantly, he seemed to have noticed that they were resting on one
knee with their heads bowed, finally realizing they had no hostile intent.
「...There really is no hostility.
They're bowing their heads to you, right, Graham-san?」
「I suppose that's what it is. Even
though I told him there was no need to send a welcoming party.」
While lightly leaking a complaint about Bane, I
decided to call out to the Ghost Wizards for the time being.
「Did you come to welcome us on Bane's
orders?」
「Yes. We were asked to come out and
welcome you, Graham-sama. Were we a nuisance?」
「...No, thank you for coming to
welcome us. Please guide us to where Bane is.」
「Yes, sir! Understood.」
Surrounded by the Ghost Wizards, we headed toward Bane's
place on the Old Abandoned Road. In the first place, no significant monsters
appear on the abandoned road or the Old Abandoned Road, and even if they did,
the majority are those under Bane's umbrella. We definitely don't need
escorts, but it's probably out of consideration that the Guild Master shouldn't
look down on me. Being surrounded by Ghost Wizards is actually more unsettling,
and I wish he had at least waited until we entered the Old Abandoned Road to
send a welcoming party, but there's no point complaining about it now.

「Guild Master, calm down. That is Bane.」

with the Ghost Wizards, but the moment he saw Bane, he drew his sword
again. At that moment, although a tense atmosphere flowed from the monsters, I
warned Bane.
「Bane, don't do things like test my friend. ...I'll seriously
send you flying, you know?」
「――! I-I'm sorry! I took the
practical joke a little too far!」
I seriously scolded Bane, who had appeared with a
suspicious appearance without hiding his aura. I can understand Bane
being cautious in his own way, but as expected, I won't forgive him being rude
to the Guild Master.
「Treat the Guild Master as if he were me. Bane, I'm counting on you.」

「D-Dwayne. Is it okay if I
call you Bane-san?」
「Dwayne-sama, I am terribly sorry. You don't need to use
honorifics. Please just call me Bane!」
「No, I should apologize for
overreacting. ...Understood. I'll call you Bane.」
With both of them beginning to apologize to each other, the atmosphere became much more relaxed. I ended up scolding him lightly, but it seems we can finally have a calm discussion with this, so firmly warning him was the right answer.
