Chapter 266
The First Request

Since returning to Biodasdal, I’ve been spending
peaceful days. I’ve started taking on requests alongside Ginia-san and Aoi-san,
and Lucas-kun, though his pace is slow, seems to be functioning well as
an adventurer. He looks like he’s having fun, which is a relief.
I want to hear more details from him soon... but today is
the day I take Gree-kun on a request for the first time in a while, so Lucas-kun's
matters will have to wait for another day.
「Gree, are you ready?」
「Y-yeah. I’m ready.」
「What’s this~? You’re unusually
nervous! What happened to that usual cheeky attitude of yours!」
「S-shut up! Go away, Aoi!」
「Now, don't be mean. Gree-kun,
you don't need to be so tense, okay?」
Aoi-san
teased the nervous Gree-kun, while Ginia-san tried to ease his
tension even a little. As expected, the difference shows in moments like this.
「You really don't have to be so
worked up. Compared to the dungeon, it’s not a major request.」
「I-I’m fine. It’s just trembling with
excitement.」
「Hey, hey! Graham-sama~! Anne
and I want to go too!」
「It’s unfair that it’s only big
brother! Please let me come along as well!」
From behind Gree-kun, who was definitely not
trembling with excitement, the energetic duo appeared. They’ve been jealous of Gree-kun
the whole time, and while they’ve grown strong enough that taking them along
wouldn't be an issue...
「Not yet. Taking you two will have to
wait until next year or later.」
「Ehh~! Graham-sama, you’re so
mean!」
「We can already fight, too!」

with it. If you get properly strong, I’ll really take you next year.」
I patted the heads of Lia-chan and Anne-chan,
who had their cheeks puffed out, and then we left the house. First, we headed
to the Adventurer's Guild, starting with completing Gree-kun’s
adventurer registration.
When we first took Gree-kun in, I didn't think he
would become an adventurer this quickly, but children really do grow up fast.
He’s been getting remarkably stronger, and he was able to fight properly in the
dungeon.
「Gree, this is the Adventurer’s Guild! It’s your first
time coming here, right!」

before.」

thought I’d introduce you, you’re not cute at all!」
「Even if he’s been here, an introduction
is still necessary, right? I’ll give him a brief introduction.」
While explaining the Adventurer’s Guild to Gree-kun,
who was officially visiting for the first time, we headed straight to the
reception. The usual receptionist-san greeted us with a smile, but
seeing Gree-kun behind us, her expression turned slightly surprised.
「Welcome, everyone! It seems there’s
a newcomer today, could it be...」
「Yeah, exactly. I’m thinking of
having him start active work as an adventurer today.」
「I thought so! Since it’s your
recommendation, Graham-san, I’m sure his skills are certain, but
age-wise, is he at the age where he can register?」
「He just turned ten the other day, so
it should be fine. Could you check just in case?」
「Understood! Name and place of birth,
please!」
Asked by the receptionist-san, Gree-kun
answered his name and birthplace sounding embarrassed. Then, having finished
checking with the crystal, she made a small circle with her index finger and
thumb.
「Yes, it’s all good! Since he’s
turned ten, adventurer registration is possible! However, the mortality rate
for young adventurers is very high, so please be extremely careful!」
「Eh? M-mortality rate... what’s that?」
「It means the probability of dying is
high. Well, we’re coming along, so it’s fine.」
「In that case, there’s no problem!
Now then, I’ll get right to making the adventurer registration and card!」
The receptionist-san performed the input with
practiced hands and handed the adventurer card to Gree-kun. Gree-kun
gazed happily at the adventurer card he received, then, realizing everyone was
watching him, he tucked it into his pocket looking embarrassed.
「Now that the adventurer registration
is complete, you’ll be able to take on Rookie-rank requests! Would you
like to take one right away?」
「Yeah, it would be a help if you
could find one.」
「Please.」
「Then I’ll pick one out for you!
——Alright, the request acceptance is complete! Delivery of ten medicinal herbs
and the subjugation of three goblins! Once you’ve achieved it, please report
back at the reception!」
「Thanks for everything. I’ll bring
another souvenir sometime.」
「Graham-san, thank you very much! I’ll be looking forward to it!」
After conveying my thanks to the usual receptionist-san, we left the Adventurer’s Guild, though we had only just arrived. I think it’s far too easy a request for Gree-kun, but at the start, far too easy is just about right. And so, I shall watch over his first request.
