Chapter 105
Limit Break
Translator : PolterGlast
To reach Elmoregrad at
full speed, we divided our roles, and it worked out perfectly.
Thanks to that, we
were able to live a comfortable and relatively relaxed life every day.
My job was to move,
and Miku's job was to wait for me at home.
I didn't realize that
having someone waiting for me at home with a warm meal would be such a source
of energy.
I had just turned
seventeen according to Earth's calendar, but I understood the feelings of
husbands a little bit. It was like having a home to protect, or something... I
couldn't put it into words well.
When I sprinted at
full speed, I could reach an incredible speed.
If I ran with a
certain amount of force, I could lift the skirts of all the girls on the street,
and if I went all out, the ground would peel off and the branches of nearby
trees would break.
From my personal
perspective, I think I was going faster than a high-speed car.
I even felt a little
guilty when I accidentally ran into a monster and killed it with the impact (it
was a boar, so I ate it later).
I think the fact that
my agility broke through the limit was a big part of why I could reach such a
speed.
It was just a feeling,
but I felt like I had shifted up a gear when my agility exceeded 1000.
Also, until now, I
didn't know how much faster I had become even if my agility increased by 1, but
after breaking through the limit, I could feel the improvement in my speed.
The details of this
limit break were still unknown.
I even asked
Alicia-sama through Miku, but she said that she had never heard of such a thing
from any of the previous heroes.
But I had a feeling
that if nothing happened, each stat would probably hit a ceiling at 999.
I didn't know if it
was because I had a gift or because I was a hero that my stats were still
increasing even after exceeding 1000, but... well, I was leaving it alone since
there was no harm at the moment.
However, I couldn't
let people see me running at such a speed, so I always tried to find places
where there were no people, even if it meant taking a detour.
I found out something
new: Wind Search became very difficult to use when moving at high speed.
Perhaps because I was
generating a tremendous amount of wind myself, the accuracy and precision
dropped sharply.
That's where Mana
Perception came in handy.
This power, which
allowed me to distinguish things with mana, was much more convenient than I had
expected.
When I used it, I
could sense nearby mana reactions.
I was quite troubled
when I found out that it reacted to herbs and monster corpses because my level
was too high, but it became much easier after I learned that I could adjust the
sensitivity to some extent.
If I set the threshold
to the amount of mana that humans had, it became much easier to avoid being
seen by people or encountering monsters.
When I ran at a speed
where the scenery changed rapidly, I didn't have the leeway to use magic while
running.
So, I decided to take
this opportunity to practice Mana Perception.
The first thing I
wanted to improve was the ability to distinguish between people and monsters.
It would be a huge
detour if I had to avoid both.
Magic was all about
image.
So, I tried to see if
I could do something about it by using images for Mana Perception, which was
also a skill that used mana... and I succeeded.
It was probably good
that I knew modern devices like radar maps and metal detectors, as well as
concrete examples that were easy to imagine, like Wind Search and Perception.
First, a map of the
surroundings appeared like when I used Perception, and I was able to identify
the mana reactions there.
And after trying
various things from there, I was able to distinguish between the reactions of
people, monsters, and magic tools.
In any case, this
greatly improved my speed.
As a result, we were
able to reach the imperial capital Elmoregrad without any problems in less than
half a month, even though we took a slight detour--.
