[WN] Shut-In : Chapter 89

Chapter 89

Farewell

Translator : PolterGlast

The next day, I left my house and decided to act alone.

Miku-san's face was well-known within the kingdom, for better or worse, so there was a huge risk in taking her with me.

It was more convenient to move alone, so I asked her to wait at home for a while.

First, I headed to the [Knight's Holy Remains].

When I used Door Placement, a new door placement point called the [Dungeon Depths] had been added, separate from the twelfth floor.

Apparently, the boss room with the coffin and the flower field were counted separately.

I pulled myself together and checked each floor, but the monsters had completely disappeared.

It seemed that the dungeon had indeed stopped functioning.

And, in inverse proportion to the number of monsters, there were more adventurers inside than I could have imagined.

I wondered if they had come to investigate.

Kazuma-kun and the others were already gone.

They had probably returned to the royal castle.

Next, I went to check the hut, but it was still broken, with no signs of being repaired.

Naturally, Varietta-san wasn't there.

I wondered if he was doing well.

If I was alone, I could check on the royal capital periodically.

I decided to come look for him before too long.

When I entered the Adventurer's Guild, it was quite chaotic.

Apparently, the [Knight's Holy Remains] had stopped functioning, causing various problems.

There was probably nothing much since there were no monsters... oh, but there were the flowers beyond the magic circle.

They were probably going to be pulled out.

It was a little sad to think that I wouldn't be able to see that beautiful flower field anymore.

"Oh... Masaru-kun! Long time no see!"

"Long time no see, Melissa-san. What's with all this activity?"

When I feigned ignorance, Melissa-san spread her arms excitedly.

"Apparently... the [Knight's Holy Remains] has been conquered! It seems a hero in the kingdom did it!"

"Oh, really!?"

Apparently, the destruction of the dungeon core was attributed to Kazuma's harem.

Guh, they stole my achievement... but I didn't feel that way at all.

In fact, I was grateful.

It was already this chaotic, and if I were the one who conquered the dungeon, I couldn't imagine how much trouble would come my way!

Thank you for taking it all on, Kazuma-kun!

"Come to think of it, Masaru-kun, you were diving into the [Knight's Holy Remains], right? Where have you been all this time..."

"Ah, haha..."

I couldn't tell her the truth, so I just laughed it off.

After a brief chat, I listened to the guild's lively conversation, which was in a festive mood because the [Knight's Holy Remains], which had been a thorn in the side of the royal capital for so long, was gone.

For now, there was no mention of Miku-san's disappearance.

I could hear everyone praising the heroes.

At this rate, everyone in Class 1-A would be very busy.

I wanted to contact Mitsukawa-kun, but it seemed better to avoid contact until things calmed down.

"Since the [Knight's Holy Remains] is gone, I'm thinking of leaving the royal capital. Thank you for everything."

"...Oh, you can always come back to Grisnia if you get lonely, you know?"

"--Yes!"

And so, I left the Adventurer's Guild.

I decided to burn the image of Melissa-san, who was waving goodbye, into my mind.

While wandering around the city, I headed to the east gate.

There, Banz-san was still doing his checkpoint duty, a little careless as always.

"Oh, isn't this Masaru, the future adventurer!?"

"Hello, Banz-san. I've actually come to say goodbye today. I'm thinking of leaving the royal capital."

"Oh, the royal capital will be noisy for a while. Are you going to the labyrinth city or something?"

"No, I want to broaden my horizons, so I'm planning to travel around."

"Oh, I see... it's good to do various things while you're young! I can only cheer you on, so do your best!"

He said that, but I had already decided on my destination.

Beyond the eastern frontier village, there were several territories separated by forests, and further on, there was an area inhabited by monsters.

Further on, there was the Holy Elmore Empire.

This place, known for its higher national power and stable rule than the Grust Kingdom, was my and Miku-san's next destination.

When I passed through the east gate, I decided to give Banz-san something I had decided on beforehand.

"Banz-san, please accept this if you don't mind."

What I handed him was a straight sword I had been carrying--the double-edged sword used by the Skeleton Knight.

It was better quality than anything sold at the weapon shops in the royal capital.

"Are you sure about this...?"

"Yes, Banz-san, you're my benefactor."

"I see... then I'll gratefully accept it."

I had a lot of them in storage, so it didn't hurt my wallet much.

If I gave him Revenant equipment, it might raise suspicion, but the Skeleton Knight's sword wouldn't leave a trail.

"Well then, see you later!"

I didn't have a good impression of the Grust Kingdom.

But the country itself was different from the people who lived there.

Banz-san, Melissa-san, Varietta-san... everyone I had met was a nice person.

Compared to when I came here five months ago, I think I have changed a lot.

I would be back in the royal capital before too long.

When that time came...

"I'll surely... be back!"

"Ou! I'll be able to use this sword properly by then!"

Waving to Banz-san, who was holding up his sword, I slowly walked away.

And so, I left the royal capital Grisnia, where I had stayed for a long time since coming to Alistella--.
