Demon Patis

"Toi-dono!"
Captain Rook rushed towards me. A terrifying sight to have a walking weapon
appear from the darkness. I silently applauded myself for not unconsciously
attacking.
"Is
that woman the Head-Chopping Nest?" Rook asked.
"She
certainly tried to cut Anneliese's neck with a knife, but whether she's the
Head-Chopping Nest or not..." I trailed off.
"I
will check her record card," Rook stated.
"Please
do," I replied.
If
I had used Detailed Appraisal, I could have captured her more smartly.
Anneliese wouldn't have had such a scary experience. A bit of self-reflection
is in order.
"No
doubt. This woman, she's the Head-Chopping Nest!" Rook declared proudly
after checking the record card.
I
hadn't expected the Head-Chopping Nest to be a prostitute. No, she wasn't
definitively a prostitute yet. But I certainly hadn't imagined her to be a
woman at all. Assumptions are bad. Probably everyone in the Knight Order and
security force thought he was a man. I was relieved I wasn't the only one
mistaken.
"Why
is the Knight Order here? Didn't your patrol already end?" Linesa
shrieked, spraying nosebleeds.
"That
was false information to capture you. It's a relief you fell for it," Rook
said, looking down at Linesa with great pride. That was my strategy, you know.
To
lure out the Head-Chopping Nest, we spread a rumor around the brothels and
taverns in the area that the Knight Order's patrol had ended. Linesa was
deceived by that rumor and came out. I hadn't expected to capture the
Head-Chopping Nest on the first day, so I learned the usefulness of information
manipulation.
"Captain
Rook. Can I leave the rest to you?" I asked.
"Yes!
Leave it to me!" Rook replied. I winced looking at Linesa, tied up tightly
with rope. Why kikko shibari!? Anneliese also did kikko shibari before, is
kikko shibari common in this world? But even in Japan, kikko shibari was
supposedly used to tie criminals in the past, so is it okay?
With
that, I turned to leave. "Gyaaaah!"
What
was that?
I
looked towards the scream, and a knight was just being sent flying, slamming
into a wall. What happened?
"Ugaaaaaaaah!"
Linesa's muscles swelled, tearing the ropes apart.
"Eh...
what kind of joke is this?"
"Master!"
Anneliese and Rosalina stepped forward to shield me.
"Master!
Step back!" Gandarvan moved even further forward, and the soldiers spread
out to protect us, on maximum alert.
Linesa's
muscles continued to grow, transforming her into a giant gorilla.
"What
is that? What's happening?" I wondered.
"Could
that possibly be!?" Gandarvan exclaimed.
"Gandarvan,
do you know what that is?"
"...Perhaps,
but that is a demon-possessed," he replied.
"Demon-possessed...?"
I repeated.
"It
means someone who has contracted with a demon." Oh my... It's like something
out of a movie.
I
used Detailed Appraisal on Linesa. Seriously...?
▼ Linesa's Detailed Appraisal Result ▼
【Job】 Prostitute Lv15 (Demon-Possessed
Lv30)
【Skills】 Bedroom Arts (Medium), STD Resistance
(Low), Unfailing Vigor (Low)
【Contract】 Lesser Demon Patis
She
really did contract with a lesser demon! Linesa seems to be her real name, but
why the "Nest"? Wouldn't "Head-Chopping Linesa" be fine
then? Oh, but "Head-Chopping Linesa" might make it too easy to finger
her as the culprit.
Anyway,
is it okay for her job to be a Prostitute? Is it fine because she has STD
Resistance? Oops, this is not the time to be thinking about that.
"This
guy is demon-possessed! Shield-bearers to the front!" I shouted.
"Captain,
there are no shield-bearers. We're disguised as explorers and commoners!"
a soldier retorted.
"Ugh...
at a time like this..." I mumbled.
Somehow,
I'm sorry. I proposed that strategy. No choice. I'll have to pitch in.
"Surround
me and hide me from the knights!" I commanded.
"Yes!
You all, surround our Master!" Gandarvan and the others were larger than
me, so hiding me was easy.
I
took out Gandarvan's and the soldiers' shields and weapons from my Item Box and
handed them over. I also took out my Gargoyle Buster.
"Captain
Rook. We'll take care of this."
"P-pardon
me! Hey, call for reinforcements immediately!" Rook, seeing us step
forward, sent someone to call the nearby Knight Order.
In
the meantime, Linesa transformed into a giant gorilla, becoming as large as a
two-story building. She was as huge as the gorilla climbing a building in New
York, but she also had ram-like horns on her head. And a tail, for good
measure.
It
was like watching a tokusatsu villain transform, and I admit I was a little
excited, though I kept it a secret.
"#%(&#%&(%#&%&$#"
Linesa emitted an unpleasant, noise-like sound. No, her body was already taken
over by the lesser demon Patis. It seemed like incarnation.
The
Lesser Demon Patis became a monster with the body of a giant gorilla, the head
of a ram, and bat-like membrane wings on its back.
"I
INTENDED TO ACCUMULATE MORE POWER BEFORE INCARNATING, BUT OH WELL. I WILL MAKE
YOU ALL MY SACRIFICES." Oh, it spoke. What was that noise from before?
"You
insult me. You have courage." It glared at me.
The
Lesser Demon Patis moved its body slightly, and the stone building was
destroyed.
"Whoa,
what a nuisance!" I muttered.
"Master!
A demon's strength is extraordinary! Retreat!" Gandarvan's expression was
grim. So, it was that strong.
"No,
I'll fight too. But I'll run if things get dangerous."
"Please
do," Gandarvan replied.
"HEHEHE.
DO NOT THINK YOU CAN ESCAPE FROM ME, HUMAN."
"Hehehe.
Rest assured, I have no intention of running, lesser demon." I stared down
the Lesser Demon Patis, smiling fearlessly.
"Here
I go!" Gandarvan roared, activating Anger Lock.
"Grrooaarrr!"
A dull thud. Gandarvan blocked the Lesser Demon Patis's fist with his shield.
The ground beneath Gandarvan's feet caved in. Just that alone showed its
immense power.
"This
is nothing!" Gandarvan pushed back the Lesser Demon Patis's fist. He
wasn't giving way in terms of power.
"WHAT!?"
The Lesser Demon Patis seemed surprised, but there was almost no level
difference. The Lesser Demon Patis's level was 30. In contrast, Gandarvan's
level was 28. All four soldiers, Anneliese, and Rosalina were also Level 28.
Even if there was a slight disadvantage, it wasn't a decisive difference, my
little lesser demon friend.
Rosalina
and the soldiers surrounded the Lesser Demon Patis and began punching it. As
long as Anger Lock was active, the attacks wouldn't target Rosalina and the
others.
The
Lesser Demon Patis rampaged, and the surrounding buildings were destroyed.
Civilians scattered like spiders, fleeing in panic. Rook and his team were
guiding the civilians to safety. His father might be a muscle-brain, but Rook
is sensible. Even if their faces share the same DNA.
I
changed my main job to Hero of the Two-Handed Sword and my sub-job to Assassin.
I activated Stealth and moved behind the Lesser Demon Patis. I jumped and brought
down my Gargoyle Buster.
Slam!
"Gyaaaaaah!"
The Lesser Demon Patis turned, but I had immediately reactivated Stealth, so it
shouldn't be able to see me.
"WHERE!?"
It roared in anger. So, it's angry at being dealt significant damage by a human
it considers a mere insect, huh?
The
Lesser Demon Patis attacked Gandarvan, but its attacks also damaged the
surrounding buildings. Stone fragments rained down, hitting fleeing civilians
and causing casualties.
"KILL
YOU ALL! COME OUT!" it roared, punching Gandarvan. Its anger seemed
directed at me, but its body was attacking Gandarvan. Its behavior was
incoherent to watch.
Anyway,
I was the one who should be angry. Because this thing possessed Linesa, I was
exposed to the cold wind for over three hours. What would it do if I caught a
cold? Even Anneliese, despite being bait, was in danger moments ago. I'll take
all this anger and unleash it on this thing.
"WHERE
ARE YOUUUUUUU!?"
I'm
right here. Slam!
"GUAAAH!"
"Anger
Lock!"
"Fire!"
Gandarvan
reactivated Anger Lock, and Anneliese's Fire magic struck. The Lesser Demon
Patis screamed as it was engulfed in fire. Serves it right.
---Acid
Strike.
"GYAAAAAH!
COWARD! SHOW YOURSELF!" I don't want to hear that from someone who
possessed Linesa and caused trouble.
With
that Acid Strike, the Lesser Demon Patis's DEF value decreased by 30%.
"Now!
Hit it hard!" I shouted.
"Understood!"
(All of them chimed in)
"Yes,
I am!" Rosalina affirmed.
Gandarvan's
skill, Power Attack (Medium). An attack that triples ATK.
The
two Swordsmen's skill, Slash (Medium). This also triples ATK.
The
two Lancers' skill, Triple Thrust (Medium). This triples ATK by 3.5 times.
Rosalina's
skill, Rush (Low). This triples her attack count for 1 minute. It's a skill
that adds 30 points to her ATK value.
And
Anneliese's Null-attribute magic, Mana Strike (Medium). Its mana spear attack
pierced the Lesser Demon Patis.
"Guh!"
Thud!
The
Lesser Demon Patis fell. Its HP dropped to zero. It was over.
"Master!"
Anneliese called.
"Master~!"
Rosalina chimed, hugging me. Yeah, that's a good feeling. I won't say what, but
it's very soft.
"Master,
are you injured?" Gandarvan asked.
"No
injuries. Well done, everyone," I replied.
"We
defeated it more easily than we thought. It's thanks to our increased levels,"
Gandarvan added. They would have been in serious trouble if they had
encountered a demon before their levels went up.
"Toi-dono!"
Rook called out.
"Captain
Rook. Can I ask you to take care of the aftermath?" I asked. I'm freezing
to death. I want to take a bath quickly.
"Of
course!" he replied.
