112 Teleportation
Gate
■■■■■■■■■■
Translator : PolterGlast
Now that the Kerniff
mansion is officially my property, I guess I'll set up that thing.
I entered a rarely
used room—a closet-like room for storing things on the third floor where my
room is.
There were no windows.
I changed my sub-job
to Base Magnate and activated the Base Transfer skill.
A black metal door
appeared on a wall where there was nothing before. Next to it, "Royal
Capital Mansion" was displayed.
This is a
Teleportation Gate set up with the Base Transfer skill.
I've already installed
one in the royal capital mansion. That's why "Royal Capital Mansion"
is displayed next to the gate.
I haven't been raising
the Base Magnate job. Its level is only 4.
I use this Base
Magnate job during negotiations, like when I meet the Princess or the Duke, but
the level doesn't increase that easily.
Unfortunately, this Base
Magnate job doesn't level up through combat.
This Teleportation
Gate can only be installed in three locations.
I assume I can
increase the number of locations as the proficiency of the Base Transfer skill
increases, but for now, I plan to install them in the royal capital mansion,
the Kerniff mansion, and the Triange mansion in my territory.
"With this, I
should be able to teleport to the capital..."
I opened the door. I
could see a room on the other side. It was unmistakably the room in the royal
capital.
The Teleportation Gate
in the royal capital mansion is also installed in a room without windows, so
it's quite dark, but the light from my lamp was enough to illuminate it.
I passed through the
Teleportation Gate and entered the other room.
Now, I can instantly
travel between the capital and Kerniff. If I don't limit who can use it, some
weirdo might use it without permission.
I guess I'll have to
put a guard in this room from now on.
"What is
this...?"
I had Mondark and the
other Kerniff servants come with me.
The four of them were Mondark
and his wife Merlice, the cook Zoppa, and the maid Kenny.
"I'm installing
this Teleportation Gate in Kerniff and the royal capital, and also in Triange,
which is now my territory. We can instantly travel between these three
locations. Naturally, the people who can use it will be limited. We'll also
place guards."
"Of course. It's
unthinkable for just anyone to use something like this."
Mondark's tone was
strong. Was he a little angry? His eyes were bloodshot. Let's calm down.
I sensed Anneliese's
presence and headed towards her. Her presence moved, and she approached me.
"Hey, Anneliese.
I've missed you."
"I've missed you
too."
Anneliese and I shared
a passionate hug.
"I felt some
magic coming from the room with the Teleportation Gate, and it was indeed you, Toi-sama."
"Thanks to it, I
was able to return from the Kerniff mansion in an instant."
"Toi-sama's
skills really defy common sense."
Don't praise me so
much. I'm getting embarrassed.
I had already
confirmed that the Teleportation Gate wouldn't disappear even if I unequipped
the Base Magnate job. However, I can't install or remove a gate without it.
I can only use the
Base Transfer skill when my job is Base Magnate. And this Base Transfer is a
skill that can install or remove a Teleportation Gate. It's not a skill to use
the gate, so it's fine even if my job isn't Base Magnate.
"Mondark and
everyone, it's been a while."
"We heard about
your engagement. Congratulations."
" "
"Congratulations!" " "
Mondark and the others
congratulated Anneliese and me on our engagement.
Anneliese informed
everyone that I had returned through the Teleportation Gate.
I introduced Mondark
and the others to the royal capital's servants, and afterward, I had a meeting
with Gandarvan and the others.
"So, we can now
travel instantly to Kerniff, which would normally take six to seven days by
horse. Your skills truly are beyond common sense, my lord."
Gandarvan said
something similar to Anneliese. Don't praise me.
"Next will be
Triange, then."
As Gandarvan said, if
I install a gate in Triange, we'll be able to travel instantly between the
capital and Kerniff.
The dungeons bring us
money. They're literally money trees. There's also a dungeon in Zawalifi, next
to Triange, but we haven't even entered the first floor yet, so we'll get to
that gradually.
"Gandarvan,
please think of a personnel placement plan for the security of the Kerniff and
royal capital mansions."
"I already have
one prepared. Since we don't yet know what the mansion in Zawalifi is like, I
have a preliminary plan for it."
That's right, I'm
getting a mansion in Zawalifi too. I need to think about that.
"You're so quick.
That's a great help. Please include the management of the Teleportation Gate in
your plan."
"I've already
taken that into consideration, of course."
I read through the
security plan I received.
It suggested placing 8
slave soldiers in Kerniff, 15 in the royal capital, and 10 in Zawalifi. The
number for Zawalifi is a preliminary plan and is subject to change depending on
the scale.
"While the slave
soldiers are on mansion security duty, they won't be exploring dungeons. So,
we'll rotate them every three to five months to let them explore the
dungeon."
The plan suggested a
rotation between mansion security and dungeon exploration, with proper
consideration for days off.
"So, 33 slave
soldiers in the capital and Kerniff. That leaves 5 for Triange. The number of
people for dungeon exploration will decrease quite a bit."
"Yes. We are
short on slave soldiers, so I would like to acquire more."
"...Alright. I'll
ask the Golteo Trading Company."
Rely on Golteo when
you're in a pinch!
"Ah, while we're
at it..."
"What is
it?"
"I'm thinking of
freeing the slave soldiers once they reach Level 40."
I just thought of
this. If we're going to increase the number of slave soldiers, I might as well
free the ones we have now.
A Level 40 combat job
is a level comparable to Barukan and Barbatos, the Royal Knights Commander.
In other words, they
are among the strongest in the country. We are, of course, an exception.
If people like that
remain slaves forever, it might affect their motivation.
More than anything,
it's what I want to do.
"Free them from
slavery, you say..."
Gandarvan's expression
clouded over.
I can kind of guess
what Gandarvan is thinking.
He probably wants to say,
"We raised them, and now that they're finally about to be useful, why
would you free them now?"
"We'll hire those
who can lead and those with special jobs as knights. Even if they don't fall
into those categories, I'm thinking of hiring them as soldiers. Of course, they
can also become explorers, or they can go back to the countryside and live a
peaceful life working the land."
"I would not
oppose it if you were to hire them into our household, but would you also free
those who wish to leave?"
"Exactly. I don't
intend to let anyone who doesn't want to work for me get to a higher
level."
Since they'd be at a
level comparable to Barukan, they would be considered quite strong by ordinary
standards. But it's dangerous to let someone who won't work for me in the
future become even stronger.
"I see. You want
to free those who won't work under you early, while those who do will be
leveled up further."
"That's it. I'd
rather have them leave before they become uncontrollable."
"However, the
slave soldiers have already learned the dungeon exploration know-how you've
established."
"Even with the
know-how, there are walls they can't cross. In the dungeon, I mean."
The Orichalcum Golem
on the 9th floor is the prime example of that.
The mob of merfolk on
the 8th floor is another.
And most of all, the
slimes on the 10th floor. They are just cheating. I myself think I'm quite a
cheat, but even I was intimidated by them.
"But if you only
free the slave soldiers, wouldn't the servants be unhappy?"
"The servants
aren't fighting for their lives. We'll just have to make them understand.
Besides, while they are slaves here, they are under my protection. If they are
freed from slavery and leave my service, they might have trouble finding work,
right? Since they don't have to worry about that, I want them to see it as a
benefit."
If I free them
carelessly, they might be kidnapped by those who want to know the secrets of my
strength. The reason I can protect them from such people is because they are
working for me.
"Even putting
aside the issue of finding work, they shouldn't be treated the same as those
who risk their lives. And having your protection is a huge factor."
"Can I leave the
explanation to the servants to Enrique?"
"Understood."
Enrique was made a
slave for being a criminal, so the idea of him being freed is a bit delicate. I
could ask the Princess to free him, but he himself doesn't wish to be freed.
But I've entrusted all
matters of this mansion to Enrique. Including the management of the servants.
Even as a slave, his position is butler. He's the butler who oversees
everything in this mansion.
