[WN] Jitsuwa 3-Domedatta : Chapter 115

Chapter 115

(Kyle Calendar Year 508: Age 15)

Letter of Admission

Translator : PolterGlast

Early in the New Year, a letter of misfortune arrived at my doorstep.

---------------

Baron Solis von Takuhir

Permission is granted for the individual mentioned above to enroll in the Knight Training Course.

Headmaster: Duke Klein von Claus

---------------

It was an admission letter from the Royal Capital's academy. Moreover, it was directly from the Headmaster. And to top it off, without me even asking, the recommendation section listed the names of Margrave Hastburg and Count Gouras, Commander of the Royal Capital Knights.

And furthermore!

---------------

Furthermore, by direct instruction from His Majesty the King, the academy will strengthen its Mage training and combat drills starting this year. For the newly established Mage Combat Training Course (1-year program), the Barony must select a minimum of three Mages and send them in the first year. The participating Mages can be of any gender, age, or status.

---------------

Such bothersome demands were also attached.

I clutched my head early in the New Year. Unbeknownst to me, I was no longer in a position to solely dedicate myself to dealing with the disasters that might befall me. Had my attempts to alter history, to protect my family and territory, created a new current, sweeping me away and leaving me unable to move? I was filled with self-reproach. If I were to leave for the Royal Capital, any unforeseen event would lead to delayed responses. Especially next year, I desperately wanted to stay in Teigun.

"I respectfully decline," I muttered to myself, knowing it was useless.

Even so, I absolutely couldn't refuse, and not just me, but a minimum of three Mages too! It was truly bothersome, but did this mean I had nine months to decide? Immediately, I gathered my four wives, with whom I could secretly consult, and discussed countermeasures.

"Even if we can't refuse, we have a lot to think about... I feel like Lady Chris's concerns from before are becoming a reality." Anne also sighed heavily.

"Given this situation, we might need to change our perspective. I believe we need to divide and organize the Mages into three groups: a unit to protect Takuhir-sama in the Royal Capital, including Anne-san; a unit whose information has already been somewhat publicized and can be openly recognized as Mages; and a unit to defend Teigun."

"Claire is right. I truly wish to go with you, but I, not being a Mage, must remain in Teigun. Yoltia-san, being the one who must be kept most secret, is in the same position as me."

"As I thought... I can't even go with you to help with your personal care, can I? Oh, but setting aside my personal feelings, I understand what Miseri-san is saying."

Yes, my biggest dilemma was which among the four to take with me and whom to leave in charge of Teigun. But I was grateful that they proactively assessed the situation and, setting aside their personal desires, discussed the best course of action.

"Shouldn't we send not just Mages, but also skilled individuals to the Knight Training Course as guards?"

"Yes, Yoltia is right. For that... hmm! How about those two?"

"Ah! Claire, that's a good idea. Takuhir-sama vouches for their skill. All that's left is a letter of recommendation for their enrollment, right?"

"Miseri, how about asking Margrave Hastburg or Viscount Gorman? If they enter the academy from a non-family background, they'll be able to move around more easily and won't be perceived as a threat by the enemy. And they'll be sufficient as recommenders, won't they?"

With Anne's proposal, the individuals to be secretly sent to the Knight Training Course were decided, and the discussion moved to the allocation of Mages.

"It'll be fine even if I'm not here, it seems..."

I felt a little sulky, but they efficiently handled the personnel matters that had been giving me a headache. However, knowing that this was the most peaceful solution, I deliberately remained silent as the discussion progressed. I somehow felt like this had happened before...

Considering various factors, it was decided that Claire and Yoltia, along with all key Mages, should remain behind.

<Mages Remaining in Teigun>

Defense: Christoph (Wind)

Development: Elan (Earth)

Commerce: Bart (Space-Time)

Garrison: Gale (Wind)

Special Missions: Marianne (Holy)

Intelligence: Raphael (Dark)

Transport: Kaoru (Space-Time)

Additionally, six Mages from the last ritual, whose names are not in the church's official records, and all Holy Mages for special mission responses, were also designated as stay-behind personnel.

Candidates for attendants or participants in the Mage Combat Training Course were selected from those who had served in past wars and whose existence was highly likely to have been revealed.

Gold (Wind: Regular Army)

Mars (Fire: Regular Army)

Danke (Fire: Regular Army)

Walrus (Water: Regular Army)

Alar (Wind: Regular Army)

Lilia (Wind: Served in Campaign)

Astor (Earth: Regular Army)

As reserves, we narrowed down candidates who were highly likely to have been revealed to:

Mary (Earth)

Sasha (Water)

Brant (Wind)

And finally, the first-year dispatch was decided.

Walrus (Sasha)

Alar (Brant)

Claire will mostly remain in Teigun but will also serve as a liaison with the Royal Capital along with Raphael. This was all decided in a flash.

Actually, for the past year, I had been secretly undertaking a certain initiative in consultation with the four people present. The History Book's talent section doesn't just list Mage aptitudes. It also lists talents in swordsmanship, archery, spearmanship, and more. Not just martial arts, but outstanding skills and latent talents are recorded there. From that list, we had secretly begun scouting individuals with exceptional talent.

The two individuals scheduled to be sent to the Knight Training Course this time were also scouted from the Teigun self-defense force and possessed unparalleled talent in swordsmanship. They had only just been entrusted to Commander Weiss, and both were still "in training."

"Oh, I'll train them to be Master-level in no time," the Commander boasted easily, indicating their high aptitude. Their potential was [Sword Master] and [Sword Demon], so it was expected that they would fully demonstrate their abilities in a few years. Later, at my request, applications for their enrollment in the academy would be submitted, as prospective knights from commoner backgrounds in the Margrave's territory and Viscount's territory, unrelated to the Solis Baron (Viscount) family.

And simultaneously with my brother's graduation, reliable individuals desiring civil service would be introduced by him and would come to Teigun. We would incorporate them into the administrative office under Miseri and Yoltia, establishing the system. The policy for the three years of my absence was decided to be thoroughly discussed and planned by autumn.

As an aside, some time after this meeting, Commander Weiss imposed a special combat training regimen in the Demon Realm on everyone going to the Royal Capital. Including me, of course.

"Over there, the subordinates who can protect you will be significantly fewer. It is my mission to train you to protect yourselves. Furthermore, those who serve by your side must acquire enough strength to protect their lord, to meet the expectations of those who remain behind. This is a minimum obligation!"

With these words, a hellish special training began for the 12 individuals, who had just a brief moment of joy at the prospect of going to the Royal Capital with me.
