[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 124

Chapter 124

Disaster

Translator : PolterGlast

A massive horde of monsters is attacking in a group, but now that I know the true identity of the one leading this Demon King's Army, I likely won't struggle. No matter how many they gather, they are ultimately just lower-middle-tier monsters.

Demons are troublesome, but from what I saw, this one didn't seem like a High-Ranking Demon. Plus, I managed to learn that it cannot leave Guanza's body due to the contract. Because of that, there's no longer a need to reserve a large amount of magic power, so I can use magic to sweep away the nearly two hundred monsters in front of me.

"Graham-san, how do you intend to fight? Both Aoi-chan and I can support you, so please give us instructions!"

"I'm going to finish them off at once with magic—so I want you two to distance yourselves a bit. Then, I'd like you to deal with any monsters that slip through the magic."

"So we just have to defeat the monsters Graham couldn't finish off! Got it. Leave it to us!"

"No matter how many get through, I will definitely finish them!"

Hearing their reliable words, I nodded once and then deployed a Magic Circle. A Magic Circle amplifies the power of magic and is effective when staying in one place to chant for a certain period.

Standing right in the middle of the suspiciously glowing Magic Circle, I gathered a massive amount of magic power in my hand. The spell I would chant was Ice Attribute Magic.

Gravity Magic would have been fine, but to finish off monsters over a wider range, Ice Attribute Magic is the optimal choice. It is an improved version of the spell I used against the Silver Golem

"[Absolute Zero: Disaster]"

The plain froze over in an instant, and the monsters with feet stopped moving. However, only their feet were frozen, and since there was practically no damage yet, it was quiet with only cool air flowing.

The moment a Lizardman standing at the front tilted its head, tore off the ice, and took a step forward—a freezing chill that felt cold even from a distance enveloped the plain at once. Every single monster whose feet had been frozen turned into a block of ice, and nearly half of the monsters in the back collapsed from the cold damage.

I used the magic trying to avoid harming Ginia and Aoi as much as possible, but their teeth were chattering as they shivered. This... might have been a little too powerful.

"I-I was surprised. It-It's too cold!"

"S-Since the cold air attacked so suddenly, I thought it was an enemy attack! If-If you're going to use it, tell us first! I seriously thought I was going to faint!"

It seemed the damage to the two was considerable, as I heard their voices scolding me from behind. If I was using a Magic Circle, maybe just [Absolute Zero] would have been enough.

"Sorry, I made a mistake in choosing the spell. I'll refrain from using powerful magic, so it's fine now."

"All the monsters that were in front of us are frozen to death...!"

"It's too outrageous! You talked about 'if any monsters slip through the magic', but there's absolutely no way such a monster exists!"

I thought those with resistance to Ice Attribute or those who could use Fire Attribute attacks would withstand it... but perhaps I was too cautious. With more than half destroyed in an instant—essentially an entire army by previous standards—the monsters in the back that were still breathing showed no sign of moving.

I went to the trouble of preparing a Magic Circle, but it doesn't look like we'll be staying here after all. After erasing the Magic Circle, I signaled Ginia and Aoi and moved forward.

While walking on the frozen ground was difficult, we advanced past the monsters turned into ice blocks and saw the remaining monsters in a state of agonizing chaos. I thought they were unable to move due to fear of being wiped out in an instant, but it seemed the cold damage was significant.

Most of the monsters still breathing were immobile, and only about ten percent of the two hundred were unharmed. And more than half of those mobile individuals had lost their will to fight; effectively, I had succeeded in annihilating nearly two hundred monsters with a single spell.

"They're completely battered and beaten! Is this really possible with just one spell!?"

"Graham-san is definitely special! The attacking monsters have disappeared; is the only one left the Demon possessing Guanza-san?"

"I think so, but there's a possibility he's still hiding some trump card—"

Just as I was saying that, black smoke similar to before appeared, and Guanza emerged from it. He wore an exasperated expression and revealed himself with both hands raised.

"Well now... I truly give up. I never thought we would meet again so soon after that parting."

His words and pose could be taken as surrender, but he is filled with bloodlust. Even in this situation, he doesn't seem to have given up and still intends to win.

"You don't seem to be giving up. Do you still have a plan to win?"

"Yes. The gathered monsters were, after all, a disorderly rabble. You are stronger than expected, but—you cannot defeat me."

"That's quite some confidence. I don't feel like I'll lose at all either."

Even if he declares that with Guanza's face and body, it doesn't quite click for me. However, there is no mistake that the opponent is a Demon. I don't think I'll lose... but I will crush him with everything I have without letting my guard down.
