[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 138

Chapter 138

What Must Be Done

Translator : PolterGlast

Being able to meet Graham-sama for the first time in a while made me get carried away far more than I expected... I had decided to try and keep my excitement in check, but the moment I laid eyes on Graham-sama, my excitement instantly hit the max.

I realized, of course, that he was completely creeped out by my behavior, yet I was unable to suppress my excitement. Now, I have shut myself in my room, wallowing in regret. I wonder what he thought of those remarks, or if those movements were simply too creepy...

Even though more than half a day has passed since Graham-sama left, I repeatedly writhe in embarrassment every time I remember it. My blunders were many, and I must reflect on them... but it was good to realize that I truly respect Graham-sama from the bottom of my heart.

And for the sake of Graham-sama, whom I respect from the bottom of my heart, I must not stay holed up in my room writhing forever; I must do what I have to do. First, I will order my servants not to lay a hand on adventurers, and then issue instructions to those in various places who expressed a desire to become subordinates.

As soon as that is finished... I will head to Marx Mountain and dispose of the insolent one attempting to bring harm to Graham-sama. Once I clarified what needed to be done, I finally stopped writhing over my blunders.

Switching my mindset, I left my room and headed to the great hall to issue notifications to my servants. Walking down the corridor to the hall, I wondered if Graham-sama liked this building.

I had this built using the architecture I saw during my previous visit to Biodasdal as a reference, but he did not show any particular reaction to it. Since even I can see parts that are still lacking, I must pay closer attention to detail and continue to improve it..

Thinking about such things, I entered the great hall... Two unfamiliar monsters stood there.

One resembled Graham-sama—a bright red skeletal monster dressed in Japanese-style clothing. The other was a giant body likely just under three meters tall, a bright blue skeleton holding a jet-black greatsword and greatshield.

Both monsters had an intense aura, and because they were suppressing their presence perfectly, I thought for a moment they might be agents of the Demon King... But I immediately realized who these two monsters were.

"Could it be... are you Aka and Yoru?"

"Yes, that is correct. Thanks to Graham-sama naming us, we were able to evolve like this."

"Bane-sama, please give us instructions."

Aka and Yoru bowed deeply to me. It doesn't seem like they misunderstood their position after gaining power and plan to rebel... but as expected, receiving names from Graham-sama led to further evolution.

I still haven't forgotten the exhilaration from when I evolved, and I feel envious of Aka and Yoru. That is precisely why I didn't want anyone other than myself to be named, but that feeling is admittedly selfish.

"Understood. I want you two to head to the monsters that surrendered to Graham-sama. And watch over them to ensure they develop properly."

"""Ha!"""

"Aka, go to the plains. Yoru, go to the forest. Make absolutely sure you are not underestimated."

"Understood. I will make them follow instructions without fail."

"For me to be underestimated is synonymous with Bane-sama and Graham-sama being underestimated. Since they surrendered, I will make them work for Graham-sama."

"That is good. I'm counting on you."

Aka and Yoru bowed deeply once more, then left the great hall and headed to their respective locations. I warned them, but considering Aka and Yoru are now stronger than that Bolfry or whatever who called himself an executive of the Demon King's Army, they are unlikely to be underestimated.

In that case, failure in the mission I just ordered is virtually impossible. It is important to keep an eye on the enemy, but I must also ensure that I never lose to Aka and Yoru.

To answer Graham-sama's expectations, I must surely finish off the insolent one on Marx Mountain. After firing myself up more than usual, I activated Teleportation Magic and arrived at Marx Mountain.

It had been a warm great hall just a moment ago, but the scenery changed to the mountaintop in an instant. And on that mountaintop, there were multiple monsters.

Grey Wolves and their superior species, Silver Wolves. Furthermore, one-eyed giant Cyclopes, and Trolls, known for having regenerative abilities worthy of the alias 'undying'.

And the one commanding such a massive number of monsters was the monster attempting to bring harm to Graham-sama. —There was the figure of a Thousand Harpy.

"Who is that! Where on earth did you appear from!"

"Is it an enemy attack!?"

"Fufu, there is surely only one monster capable of such a stunt, no? Nice to meet you, 'Magician of Death'."

The Thousand Harpy, dressed in almost nothing, wore a bewitching smile as she greeted me.

"I am honored that you know my alias. However, I now have a formal name, Bane, so please call me Bane."

"Fufufu, I refuse. That name was given to you by a detestable human, was it not? I cannot bring myself to speak such a filthy name."

"...Is that so. Then I do not mind. You lot are destined for death from the start, after all."

Judging by the fact that she isn't panicked in the slightest despite my appearance, she must have anticipated everything. And this composure comes from the confidence that she has gathered enough military force to oppose me.

I told Aka and Yoru not to be underestimated, but to think I would be the one underestimated. This sets a bad example for my subordinates. ............No, that doesn't matter anymore.

More than that—I cannot forgive this lowlife for insulting the magnificent name Graham-sama bestowed upon me! It was already decided that I would kill them, but I will make them think that even death is too lenient!

"Well then—here I come. What begins now is a one-sided slaughter!"

Just as Bane declared, what began from there was a one-sided slaughter. However, the Thousand Harpy alone was not granted death until the very limit; she continued to be tormented, and only after she personally begged for death was she finally finished off. And so—the Thousand Harpy, who was an executive of the Demon King just like Bolfry, lost her life all too easily.
