Chapter 152
Encounter
Translator : PolterGlast
After meeting with Ria, Tricia, and Maud,
I went back to the tavern and rejoined Ginia and Aoi. We then
drank until late at night. And the next day, after carrying the dead-drunk Aoi
home.
My fatigue hadn't really gone away, but I had to complete
requests as usual starting today. Desperately suppressing the urge to keep
sleeping, I went to the living room... and the three who were already awake—Gree,
Ria, and Tricia—were standing in the kitchen.
I had told Ria and the others about Gree and Anne,
but seeing them meet suddenly like this made me feel like the nervous one.
While feeling restless inside, I greeted the three without showing it.
"Good morning. So, Ria and Tricia have
met Gree."
"Graham-sama, good morning. When Ria and
I came to the living room intending to make breakfast, we found that Gree-san was already cooking.."
"Ah, I wished you hadn't said that... maybe."
"Did you think to start working right away? I'm happy,
and it's nothing to hide."
"No, I didn't mean to hide it or anything!"
Gree looked
down, seeming embarrassed. As I felt a heartwarming sensation watching Gree,
Ria left the kitchen and hugged my leg.
"Graham-sama, good morning! We're making
breakfast, so wait!"
"Yeah. I'm looking forward to it."
After patting her head, I decided to wait in the living room
as told. What I heard from the kitchen was surprisingly friendly conversation; Gree,
who is prickly with me, seemed to be treating those two with a certain level of
deference..
"Graham-sama, it's done! I cooked this rolled omelet and bacon! And Gree made that
French toast!"
"Both look delicious. I see Gree knows how to cook, too."
"My dad was a chef, so he taught me a little... and I
made it by looking at his recipe notebook."
"Gree-san's father's recipe notebook is amazing.
I was allowed to look at it a bit, and recipes for various dishes were written
densely inside."
"Heh, he must have left it for Gree and Anne."
This was the first I learned that Gree and Anne's
father was a chef. It smelled awfully delicious, and if he made it according to
the recipe, it would definitely be tasty.
"And I took the liberty of brewing the coffee. The
beans were a gift from the tavern shopkeeper, so I'm sure it will be
delicious."
"Thank you, all three of you, for making all this so
early in the morning. If there are portions for everyone, let's eat together.
"If it's okay, I want to eat too."
"Yay! I'll sit next to Graham-sa—"
"No. Even if Graham-sama is kind, he is
officially our employer starting today. You must not eat until Graham-sama
finishes."
Gree and Ria,
who were trying to rush to their seats, were lightly lectured by Tricia.
Generally speaking, that might be common sense, but personally, I want to eat
together. Food eaten with everyone is more delicious than food eaten alone.
"I appreciate the concern, but I want to eat with
everyone. So please, eat together."
"Tricia is too stiff! Graham-sama says
it's okay, so I'm eating together!"
"I want to eat too... maybe. The food we made will get
cold."
"Mmm... If Graham-sama says it's okay... is it
really okay?"
"Yeah, Tricia eat too. Also, are Maud, Anne,
and Aoi still sleeping?"
Since we're at it, I wanted to eat with everyone, and I
became curious about the two who weren't here.
"Maud and Anne-san are taking a bath
together. I don't know when they'll come out, so I think you can eat without
waiting. Also, Aoi-sama is sleeping on the second floor. There was no
sign of her waking up, so I think you don't need to worry about her."
"In that case, leaving Aoi aside... Maud
and Anne are in the bath together? Did they get along that well just
since yesterday?"
"Seem like Maud took a liking to Anne!
She said she was cute!"
"It's good if they're getting along, but is Anne
okay with it?"
"Probably okay. She looked happy earlier."
If that’s the case, I suppose it’s fine to leave them be. I
am grateful that they are getting along, after all.
However, finding out it was Maud was
a bit unexpected. She has a strong cool image, and an atmosphere where it
wouldn't be strange if she said she hated children.
"With that being the case, if we are eating, let's eat
without waiting. Gree-san's handmade French toast will get cold
too."
"True. Let's go ahead and eat with just us here."
"Yay! Can't wait!"
Ria sat next
to me, and Tricia also sat next to me with a nonchalant face. Gree
took a seat a little distance away, which somehow seemed to represent his
personality, making it funny.
Then, after finishing the pre-meal greetings, I immediately
tried the French toast. The skill of the former chef was unmistakable; the
balance of sweetness was extremely good, and I couldn't stop eating.
Furthermore, the compatibility of the rolled omelet and
bacon was surprisingly good, creating a nice balance between sweet and salty.
And the coffee Tricia brewed was delicious too; adding the fact that the
three of them cooperated to make it, it was the best breakfast.
Conversation flourished, and we were able to spend a moment
of supreme bliss enjoying our happy circle. After we finished eating, Maud
and Anne came out of the bath and lightly scolded me, saying it was
unfair that we ate without them... but even including that scolding, I felt a
strong sense of happiness.
