Chapter 180
Report to the Guild Master
Translator : PolterGlast
Having returned to Biodasdal from Bane's
place, I decided to report the matter to the Guild Master first. Ginia
and Aoi, who are returning by carriage, naturally haven't arrived yet; I
expect them to arrive tomorrow.
"...Mn? Graham-san. You're back already?"
"Yeah. I just got back. I think I was able to build a
good relationship with the Guild Master of Klingark, in addition to
subjugating the Dragon Zombie."
"As expected of you, Graham-san. I
wasn't particularly worried about the Dragon Zombie, but I was a little
concerned about the Klingark Guild Master... I'm relieved to hear you
managed to avoid any conflict."
"...No, it’s not that we didn't clash. It would be more
accurate to say I silenced him with force and then built a good
relationship."
Hearing my words, the Guild Master's expression turned quite
suspicious. Indeed, looking at the words alone, it sounds less like I built a
good relationship and more like I threatened him into acting friendly. Wait...?
We did build a good relationship... right?
"Graham-san. Are you sure you built a
good relationship?"
"Yeah, no problem. ...Probably."
My confidence was waning, but I did save Klingark,
and they were the ones who attacked first. Besides, we reconciled at the end, so
I should be confident that we built a good relationship.
"That phrasing leaves me anxious, but... well, if it's
you, Graham-san, I suppose you handled it well. So... was the Dragon
Zombie really the cause of the plague?"
"According to the discussion, it's highly likely it was
the cause. However, based on various investigations, it didn't feel like
someone intentionally spread the plague."
"Hoh, I see. So a Dragon Zombie was born
naturally, and that Dragon Zombie coincidentally spread the
plague?"
"No, someone turned it into a Dragon Zombie, but
the plague seems like an accident. I can't know for sure without
investigating this in detail, but I'm certain there is someone who zombified
the dragon."
"There is someone who zombified a dragon? Is it perhaps
related to the Demon King's Army that attacked the Royal Capital?"
This is information confirmed by the fact that a crest was
carved inside the egg. They have contacted Bane a few times, so I'm sure
it's related to the Demon King's Army.
There are suspicious movements around Biodasdal, and
the Demon King's Army attacked the Royal Capital. If there was some kind
of movement in Klingark as well, it suggests the Demon King's Army
has changed its plan.
If they are going to attack with a large army, they would
have to move through Furo Village... so it might be better to go check
on the state of Furo Village sometime soon. I have the sisters I trained
personally—Nagi and Ran—there, so I'm not worried, but I also
want to hear how they are doing.
"It's within the realm of speculation, but I think it's
related. I'd appreciate it if you could investigate on your end as well, Guild
Master."
"We are always vigilant around Biodasdal, but
there are no standout movements so far. ...But I intend to continue gathering
information."
"I'm counting on
you. Also, I have one more thing to report."
"Mn? Was there something else?"
"Something else, or rather, something that just
happened... The child of the Red Wyvern that became a Dragon Zombie
was born just now."
"Born just now? I'm sorry, but I don't understand what
you mean."
My explanation was far too lacking, so I briefly summarized
to the Guild Master that I brought back the Red Wyvern's egg and that
the egg had hatched.
"I assume you had some idea in mind to hatch it, Graham-san,
but is it safe to have a dragon, even a child, near this city?"
"It's with a trustworthy friend, so it's fine. If it
starts to rampage, I will subjugate it before any damage occurs."
"If you say so, I'm relieved... but please don't let
your emotions get in the way of killing it, alright?"
"Rest assured, I have no intention of letting a monster
that harms others run loose."
It would probably have been smoother not to mention the Red
Wyvern's child, but Greg knows I took the egg back. If the Guild
Master heard it through Greg, it could cause misunderstandings or a
rift.
So, I decided to report it. He's probably curious about the
"friend" I mentioned, but I've decided to tell him about Bane
a bit further down the line.
"Understood. If you promise me that, I will leave the
matter of the dragon child entirely to you, Graham-san. I trust you,
after all."
"To answer that trust, I'll ensure no problems
arise."
"Yeah. I'm counting on you."
That’s about it for the report to the Guild Master. The only
thing left is to ask where Guanza is.
"I just want to ask one more thing: do you know where Guanza
is now? I wanted to thank him for the information, but he wasn't in Klingark."
"Sorry, but I don't know where Guanza is either.
I think the reason he wasn't in Klingark is because he can't be in
Klingark. As you surely experienced, Graham-san, the hatred for
him is tremendous."
"I see. Well... I guess he can't go back."
"That's how it is. He said he would travel from city to
city doing good deeds, so I think Guanza will show his face in Biodasdal
when the time is right."
"Then I'll thank him for the information at that
time."
"Yeah, I think that's fine. ...Though since it was
forced onto you, I don't think you need to thank him, Graham-san."
That may be true, but Klingark was saved thanks to Guanza's
information. He seemed genuinely worried about Klingark, so I intend to
convey my thanks.
With that, I ended my conversation with the Guild Master and decided to go home. I feel bad for Ginia and Aoi, who haven't returned yet, but I'll go ahead and take it easy.
