Chapter 181
Talk of Returning Home
Translator : PolterGlast
One week has passed since we returned to Biodasdal. Ginia
and Aoi managed to return safely as well, and we spent this past week
taking it easy while completing requests.
"As expected, Biodasdal really is peaceful. That is
its good point, but I feel like it might be a bit too peaceful."
"Totally! Klingark had a lot of high-difficulty
requests, after all! With the Dragon Zombie incident and everything,
there were so many events... Thinking about that, Biodasdal is way too
peaceful!"
"As adventurers, we can't make money if it's peaceful,
but peace is still the best thing. The village I was in was truly side-by-side
with danger every single day."
Thinking back to my time in Furo Village, I
understand well just how wonderful peace is. For two young people in their
growth phase, however, I suppose they have a desire to bang out victories
against strong monsters.
"Come to think of it, where is your home village, Graham?"
"If I recall, it was at the edge of the kingdom,
right?"
"Yeah, a frontier village. On foot, it takes about a
week from Biodasdal."
"That far?! Being on the frontier means there aren't
any carriages either, right?"
"The roads aren't paved, so you definitely can't go by
carriage."
"Then you can't just go
home! I wanted to go see it, but we can't exactly go there casually...!"
"Actually, I intend to return soon. I feel like the
movements of the Demon King's Army are becoming active lately, so I'm a
little worried about the village."
Things are calm right now, so I’ll take a slightly longer
break in the near future and return to Furo Village. I don't plan to
take Ginia and the others this time, and Ria and her group should be fine since Tricia
and Maud are there.
"Eh?! You're going home, Graham-san? In that
case, I want to go with you!"
"If Ginia is going, I'm going too! I hate that
it's far, but it sounds fun with the three of us!"
"I really can't take you this time. There are no towns
or villages to stop at on the way, and it takes a week to get there. On top of
that, the monsters around Furo Village are strong."
"Ugh... I wanted to see your hometown, Graham-san."
"Ehh, strong monsters are actually a huge welcome for
me!"
"Monsters on the level of the Dragon Zombie you
fought the other day are swarming there, you know. You two have gotten
stronger, but unless you reach a level where you can defeat a Dragon Zombie
in a few minutes, it will be tough."
I have a desire to take them, but considering the distance
and the strength of the appearing monsters, it's difficult. If they become as
strong as Bane, I'd like to introduce the two of them to Furo Village
someday.
"Defeating a Dragon Zombie in a few minutes... I
feel like I have a new goal."
"True! It feels like it's been a while since we were
told we lacked ability! I'll definitely go to Graham's hometown
someday!"
I'm glad they accepted the reason I can't take them and that
their motivation seems to have gone up. I'll steadily proceed with preparations
to return to Furo Village, and once everything is ready, I'll head back.
Another week passed. The preparations to return to Furo
Village were complete, and it was finally time to leave Biodasdal.
For some reason, everyone came to see me off, and Ria and Anne were teary-eyed.
"Graham-sama... You'll definitely come back,
right?"
"I don't want you not to come back...!"
"I'm just going back for a short while; I'll be back in
about two weeks. You don't need to worry so much."
After patting Ria and Anne on the head alternately, I glared lightly
at Aoi. Perhaps having an idea that she had leaked unnecessary
information again, Aoi looked away from me and pursed her lips.
"Aoi, why are you looking the other way?"
"Ugh... Don't glare at me like that! I just told them
that there are lots of strong monsters in Graham's home village, that's
all!"
"That is exactly the unnecessary part. Don't make them
anxious. Anyway, Aoi, look after Ria and the others while I'm gone. Ria and the rest, don't hesitate to ask
Aoi to help with your sword training."
"Aoi-sama, we're counting on you!"
"I want sword instruction too."
"Ehh—!"
She was immediately being swarmed, but she has to do at
least that much. If they are receiving sword instruction, they'll likely forget
their anxious feelings.
"Anyway, I'm leaving things to you while I'm
gone."
"Yes. Aoi-chan, Tricia-san, Maud-san, and I will
manage somehow!"
"Well, you're visiting home, so take it easy! In
exchange, buy us souvenirs!"
"There are no souvenirs. It's a truly rural village,
after all. However, if I can harvest some good monster materials, I'll bring
those back."
After telling them that, I left Biodasdal alone,
aiming for Furo Village. Although I said that, I intend to stop by Bane's
place before heading to the village.
I'm curious about the progress of the Wyvern child, and I need to inform Bane of my absence for a while. Before heading to Furo Village, I took a detour to the old abandoned road.
