[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 182

Chapter 182

Mischievous Child

Translator : PolterGlast

Once again, Aka and Yoru welcomed me, and I followed their guidance to Bane. As soon as I entered the mansion, the sight of a rarely panicked Bane jumped out at me.

"Bane, what's wrong? Why are you in such a panic?"

"Graham-sama! I-I'm sorry. The Red Wyvern's child has gone somewhere, and I am currently looking for it."

"You mean it escaped?"

"It is more accurate to say it is hiding rather than escaped. It loves mischief, and I am truly at my wit's end."

I stopped by because I was curious about the Red Wyvern's child, but judging by his distress, it seems to be acting out quite a bit.

"Is it being rebellious?"

"No, it feels more like it is playing pranks because it wants to see you, Graham-sama. It seems to believe that you, the first thing it saw after being born, are its parent..."

"Is that so? It would have been easier if it thought Bane was its parent... My ignorance of Red Wyvern habits really bit me there. Anyway, I want to see the Red Wyvern's child, so let me help search."

"I apologize. In that case, could you search the second floor? I will focus my search on the first floor."

"Got it. Are there any rooms I shouldn't enter?"

"There are no such things! This mansion belongs to you, Graham-sama!"

"I-Is that so? Then I'll search without hesitation."

Brushing off Bane's comment, I received permission and decided to search the second floor. Actually, this was my first time setting foot on the second floor, but like the first floor, the construction was impressive.

It felt like many rooms were unused, but I went into them one by one to look for the Red Wyvern. While being captivated by the architecture of the rooms, I continued my search... and the moment I entered a certain room, a black mass lunged at me.

"Guaa-a!"

"...So you were here. Wait, this room is pretty scorched."

It seemed it had been hiding in this room and jumped out the moment it saw me. It looked healthy, smiling and adorable, but parts of the room were burnt, indicating it had been playing by breathing fire.

Scorching things is still cute enough, but I'm very worried it might burn the whole place down once it grows a bit more. Anyway, I'm glad I found it.

"Bane is looking for you, so let's go back."

I told the Red Wyvern, which was rubbing its head against my chest, and returned to the first floor where Bane was. The Red Wyvern was lightly scolded, but it tilted its head, seemingly not understanding.

"Phew, I am glad it was found. Still, this child's mischievous nature is quite a handful."

"Sorry for causing you trouble, Bane. Also, I hate to say this while you're tired, but the room was slightly scorched."

"If it is just that much, it is fine. I am just glad it didn't turn into a fire."

"Sorry to leave the care of a prankster to you. But I'm glad the Red Wyvern looks healthy."

I patted the head of the Red Wyvern held in Bane's arms. It narrowed its eyes in pleasure; seeing it like this, it really is just simply cute.

"Not at all. Even so... this child isn't turning red. Was the father a Black Wyvern, I wonder?"

"I think that possibility is high. I don't see a future where its body turns red from here, so we might end up calling it a Black Wyvern."

Including that aspect, I have a very strong desire to decide on a name. Calling it "Red Wyvern" right now is awkward, and having the name change as it grows would be even more uncomfortable.

...However, the fact that I can't easily name monsters is extremely troublesome. It would have been easier if there weren't weird restrictions like that.

"Anyway, I'll be going now. The next time I can show my face will be in about two weeks, so if anything happens, please handle it on your end, Bane."

"Understood. Please take care, Graham-sama."

Seen off by Bane and the Red Wyvern, I left Bane's mansion. After this, I planned to stop by the village that helped me before, and then run all the way to Furo Village.

—So, having moved from the old abandoned road, I arrived at the village I stumbled upon by chance before coming to Biodasdal. My preparations were perfect, and I didn't have any specific business here this time, but I stopped by because I wanted to say a word of thanks to the old woman who gave me vegetables.

I thought it would take time to find her, but the old woman who had been kind to me was selling vegetables at the village entrance, just like last time. Relieved to see her looking healthy, I immediately headed over to her to express my gratitude.

"Oya, you're the person who came before. Ho ho ho, I'm glad to see you looking so well."

"You remember me?"

"Of course. Only few people stop by this village, you see. Besides, you were crying, so I remember you clearly."

Apparently, she remembered my face because I had cried. Feeling a bit embarrassed, I conveyed my thanks properly.

"Granny, thank you so much for that time. Thanks to you, I found a goal for my life."

"I don't recall doing anything that significant, but I am happy you say so."

"I'm going to repay the kindness I received from you to many more people. I intend to make my deeds reach even this village, so please stay healthy, Granny."

"That is something to look forward to. Ho ho, you've given me something to live for."

Chatting with the old woman with her gentle smile, my desire to do good deeds grew stronger once again. With a renewed spirit, I advanced, aiming for Furo Village this time for sure.
