In order to return even a little faster, I intended to pick
up the pace compared to the trip there, but I arrived in Biodasdal three
days after leaving Furo Village, the exact same as the trip there.
Considering that the travel time remained the same even when I felt like I was
flying, I realized that the number of days it takes on foot couldn't be
shortened any further.
At any rate, I was relieved that I was able to return safely
to Biodasdal. I had taken it a bit too easy in Furo Village, and
I wanted to go show my face as soon as possible.
Catching sight of food stalls selling goods for the first
time in a while, my eyes naturally wandered, but I headed straight for my
house. Given the time of day, Ginia and Aoi might be out on
requests, but Lia and Gree should be there.
Thinking about this, I opened the door to the house... And
for some reason, Lia was standing right in the entryway.
"Graham-sama! Graham-sama has finally
come back!"
"Whoa there. It's dangerous, so don't jump at me so
suddenly."
It was a welcome as if she knew I was returning. I caught Lia,
who had launched herself at me like a bullet, gently set her down, and patted
her head.
"I'm glad to see you're doing well, Lia. Did you
know I was coming back?"
"Yeah! I sensed your presence, Graham-sama!"
"No, no! Lia was just waiting in the entryway
almost every day!"
Denying Lia's words, it was Aoi who emerged
from the back of the house. Ginia, Gree, and Anne were
there too, and I felt somehow relieved by our reunion after so long.
"You waited for me every day, Lia? Thank
you."
"Jeez! I was hiding it because it's embarrassing, but
you blew my cover, Aoi-chan!"
"What's wrong with being found out! You're happy too,
right, Graham?"
"Well, yeah. I'm glad not just Lia, but everyone
else is doing well too."
"I'm relieved to see you looking well too, Graham-san.
Was your home village alright?"
"Yeah. Everyone was doing fine, and if anything, it had
even become peaceful."
"I'm glad to hear that! There were a lot of movements,
so I thought things might have gotten terrible in your hometown, Graham!"
I would have to share the various pieces of information I
extracted from Cougar with the two of them later. I couldn't talk about
it now with Lia, Anne, and Gree present, though.
"Sorry for making you worry. It might not be much of an
apology, but I brought back materials from the monsters I defeated as
souvenirs."
"I want to see, I want to see! The monsters near your
hometown are super strong, after all!"
"I'm curious as well!"
"Graham-sama! Lia wants to see too!"
Considering they were parts of monster corpses, I didn't
really want to show them to Lia and Anne, but since they were
cleanly harvested, I suppose it's fine. However, I wanted to wash my body
before showing the souvenirs.
"Of course I'll show you, but let me take a shower
first. I've only been able to bathe in rivers, so my body feels pretty
gross."
"Ehh, you're going to keep us in suspense!? You can
just show us first!"
"No. Aside from me feeling gross myself, I don't want
to wander around this house with a dirty body."
Since it's already my own house, I wanted to keep it as
clean as possible. With that said, I ignored the complaining Aoi and
headed straight for the bath.
Taking a bath for the first time in a while refreshed both
my body and mind. There are baths in Furo Village too, but they only
have drum-can baths where you have to regulate the temperature yourself using
magic.
Not only is it a hassle, but it also falls short in terms of
relaxation, so a bath that automatically reaches the perfect temperature feels
exceptionally good. Surprisingly, the biggest perk of coming to Biodasdal
might have been the bath. Feeling this way in the large bath of this house, I
returned to everyone waiting in the living room.
"So slooow! You finally came out!"
"It's been a while, so I ended up indulging myself. I
was able to reaffirm that the bath in this house is the best."
"It's true that the bath in this house is wonderful.
It's large and clean."
"Right? I didn't particularly prioritize the bath when
deciding on this house, but now that I know what it's like, I don't feel like I
can ever go back to just showers."
"Hey! Enough about your bath review, show us the
souvenirs already!"
Just as I was starting a discussion about baths with Ginia,
Aoi hurriedly came to stop it. I wanted to talk about the awesomeness of
the bath a little longer, but since I'd kept them waiting, I decided to hand
over the souvenirs right away.
"Alright, alright. Sorry for keeping you in suspense.
These are the souvenirs I brought back this time."
Saying that, what I presented to everyone were the claws of
the Thunder Scale and the fangs of the Coral Shisa. They ended up
being similar parts, but when it comes to usable monster parts, it's either
hard claws or fangs. Or perhaps fur, so they inevitably end up being similar.
"Graham-sama! These are pretty!"
"Woooow. Did you get all of these, Graham?"
What caught Lia and Gree's attention were the Thunder
Scale's claws, which Nagi and Ran had defeated. They were
still imbued with electricity, and the coloring was beautiful, so I understood
perfectly well why they caught their eye.
"Those claws aren't from me, but from the residents of
my home village."
"The monster that has these claws is definitely
dangerous! Are there other capable people besides you, Graham!?"
"Yeah. Naturally, I'm the strongest, but I think
everyone else is quite strong too."
"Did someone from the village defeat the monster with
these fangs as well?"
"No, that's from a monster I defeated. I was attacked
by a pack of the monsters possessing those fangs, and I harvested them when I
wiped them all out at once."
"A pack of monsters with such vicious fangs!? Your
hometown really is way too terrifying, Graham!"
The reaction was better than I expected, and everyone was looking at them with deep interest. I was unsure if they were appropriate to call souvenirs, but bringing back monster materials might have been a huge success in the end.
