[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 202

Chapter 202

Emergency Request

Translator : PolterGlast

The return trip was uneventful, and I arrived safely in Biodasdal. I ended up returning later than planned, but well, it was within expectations.

Before heading home, I first needed to report to the Guild Master. The information on the wanted posters was solid, and I needed to thank him for putting them together.

"Oh, Graham-san. You've returned."

"Yeah. I took care of one of the monsters from the wanted posters."

"As expected of you, Graham-san. You work fast. Did you defeat the Crimsonroid first as planned?"

"No, the Guild Master of Locorante issued a ban on subjugating the Crimsonroid, so I went all the way to Brembia to subjugate the Meteor Demon Bird."

Telling him that, I handed the wanted poster for the Meteor Demon Bird to the Guild Master.

"So you subjugated the Meteor Demon Bird, Graham-san. I gave it a 2-Star (2) rating based on pure combat power, but it's a flying monster, so it must have been difficult to fight, right?"

"Well, I did go to subjugate the Meteor Demon Bird, but the bird in question had already been defeated by someone else."

"...Hm? Is that true? There shouldn't have been any humans around Brembia capable of subjugating the Meteor Demon Bird, though."

"Well, it wasn't a human who defeated it. I went all the way to the Meteor Demon Bird's nest, but what I found there was a member of the Demon Race."

"The Demon Race...? The story jumped so much I'm not following, but what on earth do you mean?"

I explained what happened in the Meteor Demon Bird's nest to the bewildered Guild Master.

"I see. So the Demon King's Army is making moves in various regions, and they had made contact with the Meteor Demon Bird."

"Yeah, that's the gist of it. The Meteor Demon Bird was defeated by a clown-like Demon Race, and I defeated that Clown Demon."

"This is way too disturbing on several levels. We might need to strengthen the watch around Biodasdal as well."

"Yeah, you can never be too careful. Anyway, I'm going to continue using the wanted posters to hunt down strong monsters. There's a high chance I'll run into the Demon King's Army there, just like this time."

With that, I finished my report to the Guild Master. All that was left was to tell him to notify me immediately if a call for reinforcements came from Locorante, but—the door to the Guild Master's office was suddenly flung open.

"Guild Master! It's an emergency! A request for reinforcements has arrived from the city of Locorante!"

"Locorante...? Ah? The city where Graham-san was refused permission to subjugate the Crimsonroid!"

Since I had just returned, the timing was perfect, but the request for reinforcements came many times faster than I had imagined. A call for reinforcements at this timing could only mean one thing: the Crimsonroid had undoubtedly made its move.

"I warned the Guild Master of Locorante repeatedly, so I'm sure this is a request for me. I'll head over immediately."

"Graham-san, I'm sorry. Having you head out when you've just returned."

"No, it's fine, don't worry about it. In reality, I haven't actually defeated a single monster from the wanted posters yet. The Crimsonroid was a target of mine anyway, so it’s perfect."

"It's a real lifesaver that you say that. I'm counting on you."

"Yeah. It might be strange to call this an exchange, but I'd like to ask you to handle the sale of the Meteor Demon Bird materials. Will you accept?"

"Of course. Buying materials is the Adventurer's Guild's job in the first place. I'll make sure to sell them for as high a price as possible."

"Thank you. I'll be off then."

After thanking the Guild Master, I handed over the Meteor Demon Bird's claws I had brought back. Looking forward to seeing how much they would fetch, I quickly left the Adventurer's Guild.

Before making a U-turn back to the city of Locorante, I should go see Ginia and the others. It's an emergency request and I don't have time, so I'll probably only be able to give them a brief report, though.

When I returned home, Lia and Anne, hearing the sound of the door, came running. Gree also came to welcome me a moment later, and I felt happy at the sight.

"Welcome home, Graham-sama!"

"Were you able to subjugate a strong monster? I'm curious to hear about the monsters!"

"I want to hear too! Was there a monster as strong as the Cruuhamillion?"

"No, it wasn't on the level of the Cruuhamillion. Or rather, I have to head out again immediately. Are Ginia and the others here?"

"Ehh!? You just got back, but you're leaving already!?"

"An emergency request has been issued, and there are people in trouble, just like Anne, Lia, and the others were. I want to help because there are people in trouble."

"If you put it like that, we can't complain...! Ginia-san and Aoi-san are in the courtyard!"

"Thanks. I'll go talk to them."

After lightly patting the children's heads, I headed for the courtyard. In the courtyard, Ginia and Aoi were having a mock battle, both completely focused. I felt bad interrupting such a tense match, but since I have urgent business, it can't be helped.

"Ginia, Aoi. Got a minute?"

"Eh? ...Graham-san, you were back!"

"Ah, it's Graham! You're back already!"

"I came back, but I have to head out again immediately. I stopped by just to report that."

"Eh! You're leaving again!? Take us with you!"

"No, an emergency request has come in this time. If it wasn't an emergency, I was thinking of having you two, Ginia and Aoi, handle the subjugation, but since it's an emergency, I have to head there right away."

"Mmm... If you put it that way, we can't force our way along to follow you."

"So I guess that means a little more time off for us...!"

"I've seen the monsters on the wanted posters, and I know you two can handle anything up to a 2-Star (2), so I'll bring you along later on. Just wait a little longer for now."

"Yay! We'll wait quietly this time!"

"Please be extremely careful, Graham-san."

"Yeah. Take care of the kids for me."

Telling the two of them that, I decided to head straight for Locorante. Before leaving the house, I received the sandwiches that Tricia and Maud must have hurriedly made for me, and I dashed off at full speed toward the city of Locorante.
