Chapter 20
Fatigue
Translator : PolterGlast
Light magic is quite
versatile.
Attack, defense,
recovery, buffs... it has all the magic you need in any situation.
Its weakness might be
that it lacks offensive spells, but that weakness can be easily compensated for
if you can use other attributes.
Besides, there is also
a magic sword spell, so I think I can fight in close combat with it... I still
need to practice close combat to avoid being cornered, though.
I wonder if
Varietta-san would teach me swordsmanship if I asked him.
Recovery magic exists
in other attributes as well, but there are fewer types.
No matter how much I
master one attribute, I can only use Heal and High Heal as far as light magic
is concerned.
Well, as for the lack
of firepower, we can only compensate for it by using offensive spells of other
attributes.
In that case, it's
best to use lightning magic, which is fast and powerful.
Lightning magic has
the highest firepower among the magic I can use now.
There's no doubt that
its original firepower is high, but that's not the only reason for its high
firepower.
It seems that the
concept of skill LV is not just about increasing the number of magic you can
learn.
Probably LV is also
related to the activation speed and power of the spell.
I became convinced of
this because the gap between Earth Lance, which creates an earth spear from the
ground learned at Earth Magic LV 1, and Lightning, learned at Lightning Magic
LV 1, were too great.
It was doubtful
whether Earth Lance could defeat a zombie, and it took about three seconds to
use.
On the other hand,
Lightning has a smooth activation and a shorter time to release than Bind.
Moreover, its power is so high that it can easily defeat a zombie and scorch
its body.
There is also
space-time magic, which has the same LV 10 MAX, but this has more tricky magic
such as item boxes that can put things in and Jaunt that can teleport to
another location, and there are almost no pure offensive spells.
Thanks to that, it
might be a blessing in disguise that I was able to try all the space-time magic
in the grassland yesterday.
Oops, my thoughts have
gone all over the place.
In any case, I'll
mainly use light magic and lightning magic for a while.
Lightning magic also
emits a little smell... but that's something I can't afford to turn my back on.
Although Alistella is
a game-like world, it is undoubtedly a reality.
So basically, I think
it's just right to be overly cautious.
My strategy in the
dungeon is always going to be "Prioritize Life."
"Okay, I'll stop
here for today."
I decided to end
today's exploration when I returned to the stairs leading to the third floor
again.
I've used a lot of
magic spells for practice, so my MP has decreased quite a bit, and more than
anything, my physical and mental fatigue has become stronger.
I activated the [Home]
gift and used MP to return to my home.
"Phew... I'm
tired... (sniff sniff)"
I sniff my own body.
I didn't notice it
until now because I was always in the stench of rot, but when I entered my home,
I immediately realized how smelly my body was.
If I stood in front of
the air purifier, the smell meter would probably turn bright red at an
incredible speed and the air would be purified.
"For the time
being..."
I took off all my
clothes and sprayed deodorant on my body.
After removing the
minimum amount of smell, I used Refresh on the clothes I was wearing to restore
them to their original state.
Then I put on clean
socks and went straight to the bathroom.
I scrubbed my body
thoroughly with a towel to remove the ingrained smell.
--I have a very good
compatibility with the [Knight's Holy Remains].
First of all, almost
no one comes to this dungeon, so I can use the power of the [Home] gift without
worrying about people's eyes.
I don't have to worry
about people's eyes or take an inn as camouflage, so it might be more
comfortable than Grisnia without exaggeration.
Also, the dungeon has
a self-repair function.
Corpses and equipment
in the dungeon disappear before I know it, and traces of dungeon destruction
disappear after a few hours.
No matter how powerful
magic I use, I don't have to worry about environmental destruction.
And the drawback that
adventurers hate this dungeon, which is that the stench of death and rot sticks
to their bodies, can be greatly reduced by using the [Home] gift.
Use Refresh to restore
items to their previous state, and use the shower to cleanse my body
thoroughly.
If the smell still
doesn't go away, I can overwrite the smell by spraying perfume in my home.
In addition, if I
return to the house when I am tired, I can avoid being attacked by monsters
while I am sleeping or distracted.
Thank you, [Home]
gift.
I can't disrespect my
home by sleeping with my feet towards it anymore.
"Phew..."
Fortunately, the smell
didn't stick to me that much, and it completely disappeared after I showered
and washed my body.
I dried my hair with a
hairdryer and returned to my room, then jumped into bed.
When I checked the
time, it was right before 2:00 PM.
The exploration time
should have been less than six hours, but... I was incredibly tired.
I didn't realize that
the tension of thinking that monsters might come would wear me down so much.
If I were a normal
adventurer, I would definitely give up within a few days.
"I'm sleepy..."
Unable to suppress the
urge to fall asleep right away, I lay myself down on the pillow and mattress.
I could reflect and
decide on my next course of action tomorrow.
I put on the futon and
drifted off to sleep--.
