I, having defeated the
Greater Rat, the first-floor boss, fought it again.
To be honest, after
defeating the first Greater Rat, my Explorer level rose to 3.
Furthermore, I had acquired
a new job, so I changed to that job and challenged the Greater Rat for a second
time.
Hero (英雄/Eiyuu)1 of the
Two-Handed Sword: One who wields a two-handed sword with both wisdom and
courage. Can use the Command (Minor), Area HP Auto-Recovery (Minor), Body
Reinforcement (Minor), and Buster Slash (Minor) skills. Acquisition condition:
Demonstrate wisdom and courage, and single-handedly defeat the first boss
monster.
Skill: Command
(Minor): Increases the STR, VIT, AGI, INT, MIN, and DEX of all individuals
under command by 5 percent. Can command up to 10 individuals. (Passive Skill)
Skill: Area HP
Auto-Recovery (Minor): Recovers the HP of self and all individuals under
command. The recovery amount is 1 HP per minute. (Passive Skill)
Skill: Body Reinforcement
(Minor): Increases own STR, VIT, AGI, INT, MIN, and DEX ability scores by 10
points each. (Passive Skill)
Skill: Buster Slash
(Minor): Two-handed sword technique. Launches a slashing attack with double ATK
to enemies within 5 meters of the sword tip. Consumes 5 MP. (Active Skill)
The new job, Hero of
the Two-Handed Sword, has the same STR and VIT values (8, not including
equipment and skills) at Level 1 as a Level 3 Explorer. Other abilities are
slightly lower, but due to the effect of the Body Reinforcement skill, which
adds 10 points to STR, VIT, AGI, INT, MIN, and DEX respectively, it's far
stronger than an Explorer.
By the way, the effect
of the Command skill doesn't apply to me. This is an enhancement skill for
people "under command."
Since I'm changing
jobs at low levels, it's hard to tell my true strength, but I thought this was
good.
I asked Anneliese
about the Hero of the Two-Handed Sword, and she said that heroes are rare jobs
that rarely appear. Still, a fair number of heroes have appeared in the past.
I thought it was a
landmine job like Hero (勇者 (Yuusha)1, but I
decided to use it after hearing that many people in this world have become
Heroes (英雄/Eiyuu)1.
Besides, I could just switch to another job once I leave the dungeon.

The Greater Rat's
movements seemed very slow. The positive bonus from Body Reinforcement is
incredible. And since it consumes no MP, it's incredibly reliable.
"Hup!"
I moved faster than
the Greater Rat and split its body in half.
I won effortlessly,
without even needing to exploit the attack pattern's opening. Even though the
Greater Rat was so difficult before, I could win this easily just by changing
jobs.
Eiyuu-type jobs are
apparently on par with Yuusha, if not better. They have high combat power, but
also the advantage of being able to strengthen allies.
They can't use magic
like Yuusha, but their skill composition more than compensates for that.
"If Eiyuu is on
par with Yuusha, why is there Hero Summoning?"
"The appearance
of Eiyuu depends on luck, but Yuusha appears if you summon them. This is more
reliable."

So, if you prioritize
efficiency and certainty, it's Yuusha, huh?
With good weapons and
armor, one should be able to defeat the boss alone. However, one has to show
wisdom and courage, which raises the bar for acquisition.
In my case, I saw
through the Greater Rat's attack pattern and bravely went on the offensive,
thus fulfilling both conditions and defeating the boss. Thanks to that, I
gained the Hero of the Two-Handed Sword.
"Oh, my level went
up."
I didn't expect to
level up from just one monster. As expected of a Level 5 boss.
"Did you gain a
new job?"
"If it were that
easy to gain a job, there'd be no appreciation for them, right?"
Both Explorer and Hero
(Eiyuu) have quite difficult acquisition conditions. I happened to have a good
weapon, so I was able to acquire it, but new jobs don't appear that easily.
"Is that so?
That's a shame."
Even though it's my
job, Anneliese looks so disappointed as if it were her own! She's too cute!
"Anyway, can we
hunt Greater Rats until Hero reaches Level 3?"
"Yes. I'll
accompany you."
We entered the second
floor from the boss room, then immediately used Dungeon Move to return to the
first floor's boss room entrance.
Perhaps because the
Greater Rat's level was 5, my Hero of the Two-Handed Sword job reached Level 2
in that one battle.

Level 3 after two or three more battles.

pieces of mouse meat (800 Grill), 1 sharp front tooth (1,000 Grill), and 3
Greater Rat tails (4,500 Grill). A total of 6,300 Grill (equivalent to about
63,000 yen).

for lodging, food, and equipment maintenance.
Also, the items left
in the boss room were all worthless. It seemed silly to bring them back, so I

Even normal boss drops
fetch a decent amount. Boss farming is perfect for making money.
This is also possible
because of the Explorer's Dungeon Move skill. Even with just this, Explorer is
a good job, yet no one tries to acquire it.

shops or craftsmen who can maintain this equipment?"
The Mithril Two-Handed
Sword is maintenance-free due to its auto-repair, but the armor isn't.
I hadn't taken damage
before, but today I was hit many times by the Greater Rat.
Anneliese thought for

care of it."
