[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 11

Chapter 11

The Flying Slash

Translator : PolterGlast

An opponent with a presence this weak is probably something even Ginia can fight.

I could just defeat it myself, but I'll at least try proposing it to her.

"Looks like a monster has shown up. This isn't a subjugation quest, so we don't have to fight it, but... it's a very weak monster. Do you want to try fighting it, Ginia?"

"What! Me, fight it!? Please, you go first, Graham-san! I don't think I can beat it..."

"I think you could if I give you instructions, but shall I take care of it first?"

"Yes, please!"

Appearing as if it had jumped out of the forest was a goblin with a filthy green body.

It's a type I don't see often, but it's probably a common species of goblin.

"That's a weak, common goblin. Even you could beat that one, Ginia."

"U-um... I lost to that goblin!"

"Eh...? Y-you did?"

I've never fought a common goblin myself, but that's because they tend to die on their own before they can even fight me.

When a horde of goblins attacked the village before, they were so weak that they were dying just by getting caught in the crossfire from their own allies.

In terms of simple strength, it's probably on par with a Horned Rabbit. I find it a little hard to believe she lost to this goblin.

The thought of defeating it with my bare hands to lecture Ginia on how to fight crossed my mind... but I should probably just aim for an instant kill here.

I gripped the hilt of my katana and lowered my stance.

And then—I drew and sheathed my sword in a single instant.

The moment the sword settled into its scabbard, the head of the goblin, still far in the distance, flew into the air, and its body collapsed to the ground a moment later.

A violent spray of blood erupted, but due to the distance, none of it reached us.

"—And, that's that."

"...................Huh? W-what... what did you just do!? All I saw was the goblin's head suddenly go flying!!"

Ginia, in her excitement, grabbed my side and began to shake me back and forth violently.

"Hey, stop. All I did was send a slash flying."

"S-s-send a slash flying, what's that!? I've never even heard of a feat like that!!"

"Just calm down for a second."

"How can you expect me to calm down after seeing that! --That was too cool!"

After that, I was bombarded with questions in front of the forest until Ginia finally calmed down about five minutes later.

I didn't think she would get this excited over a simple attack without any skills imbued in it, which flustered me, but I was simply happy to be praised so openly.

"Have you finally calmed down?"

"I'm sorry... I got a little carried away. But that was truly amazing! I now understand that when you see something truly incredible, you can't even comprehend what's so amazing about it!"

"I'm happy for the praise, but it wasn't that difficult a thing to do."

"Really? I've never heard of sending a slash flying. I thought it was an attack using magic! Which is amazing enough on its own!"

"I can use magic too, by the way. I'm pretty good with fire-attribute magic."

I had tried to see if I could make a prosthetic arm with earth-attribute magic, but it required far too delicate magic power manipulation, so using it as a replacement for a hand was impossible.

Creating a crude arm, like a large earthen fist to smash things with, is possible though.

"You're superhuman! That's not the strength of a rookie adventurer! Are you sure you're okay with me in your party?"

"You just don't know about it, right, Ginia? In a town this big, there must be tons of guys with my level of skill."

"I've never heard of anyone like that! ...You know, now that I think about it, I'm starting to get really mad at the people in the Adventurer's Guild who were making fun of you! You should just go and punch them out!"

Ginia passionately explained her point while swinging her fists around.

For my part, just having someone get angry on my behalf like this was enough to make me feel better.

Besides, I don't really like fighting people.

There are exceptions like yesterday, of course, but I'm too scared of what would happen if I accidentally killed someone.

"Let's just get inside the forest. We haven't even stepped foot in it yet."

"I'm sorry! I got too excited at the entrance. But with you here, Graham-san, I'm not scared of the forest at all! Let's charge right in and find those Great Lemons!"

"Yeah. I'm leaving the task of finding the Great Lemons to you, Ginia."

"Yes! You can count on me!"

We composed ourselves once more and entered the southeastern forest to search for Great Lemons.
