[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Rest Day

Translator : PolterGlast

A week has passed since the subjugation of the Berserk Bear horde.

During this time, we've been completing quests, and while feeling the drop in intensity from our exploration of Hest Forest, we've been spending our days having fun.

The balance of taking quests casually and doing good deeds with focus is working well, and personally, I think we've got a good system going.

And—today is our first rest day in a while.

I'm being summoned by the Guild Master tomorrow, so after going to the Adventurer's Guild, I plan to head to the old abandoned road to get a report and hear various things from Bane.

Depending on the information from Bane, we plan to hunt the Silver Golem as a good deed the day after, so we've suddenly made today a rest day.

"Ah, Graham-san! Good morning!"

Since it was a rest day, I had planned on hitting the town for some solo street food and day drinking for the first time in a while, but Ginia, who had heard that I was still staying at a cheap inn, suggested we go inn-hunting together.

So, even though it's my day off, here I am, meeting up with Ginia.

"You were already here? I thought I came a little earlier than our meeting time."

"I got all restless thinking about exploring the town with you... so I came early!"

"I'm glad you were looking forward to it, but I'm sorry to make you hang out with a geezer on your day off."

"Not at all! I was the one who suggested it in the first place, and I was really looking forward to it! Well then, we're wasting time, so let's get going!"

Feeling a little guilty, I started walking towards the central street, following Ginia's lead.

Still, the central street right off the bat, huh.

There are a lot of inns, but it's a place I had excluded from my list of candidates precisely because it's the prosperous part of town.

Depending on the price, if it's cheap, then of course the central street would be nice, but...

"First, let's get something to eat! You haven't had breakfast, have you, Graham-san?"

"I haven't, but are we going to eat right before we look for an inn?"

"A day starts with a meal! Besides, there's a cake shop I wanted to go to, so is it okay if we have breakfast there?"

"You're the one showing me around, so anywhere is fine with me, but... we are going to look for an inn, right?"

"Of course! I've even done my research! Well then, let's go to the cake shop!"

I like sweets, so I'm happy, but starting with a meal right away makes me a little anxious.

Well, it's Ginia, so I'm sure my worries are needless.

We made some light chatter and arrived at a stylish cake shop.

It had a storefront that I would never be able to enter on my own, and in fact, everyone in line was a woman.

"What a stylish shop. And there's a line even though it's morning."

"It's only this short because it's morning. Around noon, there's a huge line! That's why I made this our first stop!"

"I see. So it's a shop you can only eat at in the morning. Also... is it really okay for me to go in?"

"Of course! Come on, let's get in line!"

Feeling a little out of place, we waited in line for about ten minutes.

We were shown inside and guided to a table by the window.

"Welcome. Have you decided on your order?"

"I'll have today's cake and a tea, please."

"I'll also have today's cake and... this swirly bread. And a coffee, please."

"That's two of today's cake and a croissant. And for drinks, a tea and a coffee."

"Yes! Thank you!"

We placed our order with the stylish waitress and were waiting restlessly when our food was brought out right away.

A cake that looked delicious at a glance, and a freshly baked bread that was called a croissant.

My feeling of being out of place was blown away, and my mouth started to water with the urge to eat.

"It's the best shop in Biodasdal for a reason. The quality is amazing! Shall we dig in?"

"Yeah, I can't wait to eat. Let's eat."

After saying our thanks for the meal, I put the pure white cake, topped with colorful fruits, into my mouth.

"Wow, this is good... What is this delicious cake?"

The cake was so good that the words just slipped out of my mouth.

I thought the white part was whipped cream, but it had a cheese-like flavor, and because it wasn't overly sweet, it went perfectly with the fruits on top.

I was even moved by the flavor, which felt like it had all been perfectly calculated.

"It's really delicious! I'm glad you seem to be enjoying it too, Graham-san!"

"This is by far the most delicious sweet I've ever eaten. I would never have been able to come to this shop alone, so I'm grateful to you for showing it to me, Ginia."

"Fufufu, I didn't think you'd be this happy! Let's come back together on our next day off!"

"Yeah, I'd love for you to invite me."

I polished off the cake in no time, and also finished the croissant that only I had ordered.

The croissant was also packed with the delicious flavor of butter. This was a highly satisfying shop.

The after-meal coffee also had a calming flavor, and I truly think this was the best breakfast of my life.

This... I really have to apologize properly to Ginia for having doubted her.
