Chapter 76
VS Silver Golem
Translator : PolterGlast
Their appearance is
almost the same as the Golem we fought the other day.
The only differences
are that their bodies are silver, and the core hidden inside their bodies is
larger.
Four in the front, and
six in the back.
They are approaching
slowly, and in the meantime, the three of us decide how to defeat them.
"Ginia, Aoi. How
do you want to fight? If you'd prefer a one-on-one situation, I can create that
for you."
"I'm fine like
this!"
"I'm fine like
this too! Aoi-chan and I will each take on two and defeat them in one go!"
"...Alright. In
that case, I'll fall back and provide support."
I'm a little worried,
but since the two of them insisted they could do it, I'll let them try.
I'll move to a support
role, ready to cast healing magic on Aoi instantly, and prepared to help Ginia
at a moment's notice.
"I'll go
first."
Ginia drew her sword
and took a stance.
Up until now, she had
been using her old sword, but the one she just drew is the one I picked out for
her when we were looking for an inn.
It's a slender but
long-bladed sword, which I chose thinking it would be a good match for Ginia's
counter-style.
I'm a little scared
that this is her first time using it—but Ginia herself is smiling.
Ginia smiling is a
sign that she's in good condition. Since she had a hard time with the Berserk
Bear, she hadn't smiled once during a battle.
It's not that her
movements were bad, but when she's smiling, it's proof that Ginia herself is
enjoying it, which also adds a lightness to her movements.
"[Magic
Armament]."
The moment Ginia
whispered that, she began to cloak her drawn sword in magic power.
It's the same
technique I used when I first met Bane and cut down the Ghost Wizards.
I simply used my
technique to cloak my katana in magic power, but it seems Ginia is doing it
with a skill.
It's a bit late to be
thinking about this, but I don't know what skills Aoi and Ginia have.
I only just learned
about [Limit Break], and maybe after we defeat the Golems and return to the
city, I should ask...
No, I've heard that
many people don't want to reveal their skills, and it's more surprising to see
them for the first time, like with [Limit Break]. Maybe not asking is the best
thing to do.
As I was thinking that
while watching Ginia's [Magic Armament], the distance between Ginia and the
Silver Golems closed.
Two Silver Golems
charged straight at Ginia, who was smiling and taking light steps.
The massive Silver
Golems were the first to enter her range.
One of them swung its
rock-like fist high and brought it down towards Ginia.
I was preparing my
magic so I could help her right away, but Ginia easily dodged the oncoming
fist—and sliced through its arm.
Although she had aimed
for the presumably fragile joint, she had perfectly cut down the rock-like arm.
And it wasn't a
counter-attack using the opponent's strength, but a direct overhead swing that
sliced through the fully extended arm.
Ginia doesn't have the
physical strength to perform such a feat, and just cloaking her sword in magic
power shouldn't change things so dramatically.
While finding it
strange, I kept my eyes fixed on Ginia's movements.
The Silver Golem,
which had lost one of its arms, showed no signs of distress, perhaps because it
has no sense of pain.
It was trying to
attack bravely with its remaining arm and legs, but... Ginia easily dodged the
Silver Golem's attacks, and the moment its movement stopped, she destroyed its
core with a thrust.
It was several times
faster than a normal Golem and should have had power on a different level, yet
she defeated it with ease.
Although it has the
clear demerit of being unusable once her magic power runs out, Ginia, who has
mastered [Magic Armament], is strong.
"Ginia, that's
amazing! Your movements are already on par with a B-rank adventurer! ...I can't
lose to you. Graham, I'm counting on you for healing support!"
"Yeah. Go ahead
and blast away."
Inspired by Ginia, a
fired-up Aoi slapped her cheeks, took aim at the approaching Silver Golem—and
unleashed her fist.
She shattered its core
along with its torso in one blow, but because she punched it with her bare
hands, Ginia's fist was also in a nasty state.
I immediately cast
healing magic on it, but I'm a little worried.
"Ginia, are you
okay? If you have a dagger, you should attack with that."
"It hurts like
hell, but it's okay because you'll heal me, Graham! Like I said before, I can't
control it precisely, so I have to use my fist! Four more... I'll smash them
with all my might!"
A muscle-brain style
with no thought for the future.
She could have bought
something like brass knuckles, and I really wish she had consulted me
beforehand.
I thought about
coating Ginia's hands with earth-attribute magic, but it's quicker to just cast
healing magic the moment her fist connects.
I switched my focus
from Ginia to Aoi and concentrated, preparing to cast my magic.
I kept my aim
constantly on Aoi as she toyed with the Silver Golem with her swift movements,
and the moment she stopped to take a stance, I sent a healing spell to where
she was about to move.
And just as her fist
touched the Silver Golem, I succeeded in casting the healing magic.
It requires a lot of
concentration, but the high degree of difficulty might actually be quite fun.
