Chapter 86
The Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild
Translator : PolterGlast
After a light tour of
the city with the Guild Master as our guide, we arrived at our destination: the
Adventurer's Guild.
Befitting the Royal
Capital's Adventurer's Guild, its size was immense, a building three times
larger than Biodasdal's.
"Whoa... The
Adventurer's Guild is on a whole other level too! The adventurers also look
strong!"
"I'm sure many of
them are strong. Biodasdal only has one A-rank adventurer party, but the Royal
Capital has countless A-rank adventurers. There are over ten S-rank adventurer
parties, and even a party of the highest rank, SS."
"You were
provoked about that and ended up mentioning my name, right, Guild Master?"
"That's not it! I
was asked if there were any promising adventurers, and when I mentioned your
name, Graham-san, they mocked me... and I just snapped and talked back."
"I know how you
feel, Guild Master! I don't know how many times I thought about punching the
people who were making fun of Graham-san at the Adventurer's Guild!"
"I also found
myself on the verge of killing someone before I knew it. I knew in my head that
I shouldn't cause trouble for Graham-san, but..."
The Guild Master and
Ginia are both too hot-blooded.
I'm just a geezer who
only recently left his village; they could just let people say what they want.
I'm happy that they
get angry for my sake, but my wish is that they'd just stay calm rather than
getting into trouble and putting themselves in danger.
"I don't mind
being made fun of, so you two don't have to get angry. I'm used to being mocked
in Biodasdal."
"I understand
that you have a tolerant personality, Graham-san, but... it's precisely because
I respect you so much that it's difficult to control myself."
"I think it can't
be helped if you get angry! You'd get angry too if Ginia was being made fun of,
right, Graham?"
"That... I might
get angry."
"See? The ones
who make fun of you are in the wrong, so it can't be helped if we get
angry!"
Now that she mentions
it, that might be true, but the feeling that I don't want them to get angry for
my sake is still strong.
"It's not really
my place to say this, but... how about we all just agree to be careful not to
cause any trouble? Even if we're mocked, we'll keep it to a light warning—how
about that?"
"Yeah. I think
that's for the best."
"Wait, are we
going to get mocked that much?"
"I don't really
want to say it myself, but we will definitely be mocked. I think a guy named
Guanza and an old man called Shiro, in particular, will trash-talk you
mercilessly."
"Are those two
adventurers?"
"No, they're
Guild Masters, like me. The Guild Masters are all a bunch of bastards, so
please be very careful not to get into any trouble."
Perhaps because he was
reminded of the two, the Guild Master's expression openly soured.
I don't know what kind
of people they are, but I'd rather not get involved with them.
After that
conversation in front of the Adventurer's Guild, we finally went inside.
The inside was also,
as expected of the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild, on a different level
from Biodasdal's, starting with the number of reception counters.
In the back, there was
something like a tavern, and in the front, a super-massive quest bulletin
board.
There also seemed to
be few low-rank adventurers swaggering around unnecessarily, and it looked very
orderly.
"It's so spacious
inside! There's even a tavern in the back!"
"That tavern is
for forming parties. The guild acts as a mediator, and the flow is that you
talk in that tavern, and if you get along, you form a party."
"Huh, that's a
good system. The Adventurer's Guild introduced me to Ginia, and after a few
things, we ended up forming a party. I'm very grateful for that matchmaking system."
"Ugh... I'd
rather not remember that time, but it's thanks to that that I'm able to be in a
party with you now, Graham-san."
"You two were
introduced by the Adventurer's Guild and formed a party? That's the first I've
heard of it."
"We're still indebted
to her now; we owe everything to that receptionist. I don't know if I should be
saying this, but I'd like you to make sure she's well-treated."
"Now that I've
heard that, I'll make sure that receptionist's treatment is improved."
Whoa, it pays to speak
up.
She's helped us out so
much, and I'd be happy if this improved her treatment even a little.
We had that
conversation while looking around the Adventurer's Guild, and then we finally
headed to the Guild Master's office.
The Guild Master spoke
with a guild employee from the Royal Capital, and we were smoothly shown to the
back rooms.
The back area was also
very elaborately designed. We went up the stairs to the third floor.
The second floor was
apparently for various conference rooms and was an exclusive floor for S-rank
adventurers. It seems that skilled adventurers are well-treated.
And on the third
floor, there were only two rooms: one for the sole SS-rank adventurer party in
the entire Royal Capital, and the other for the most important person in this
Adventurer's Guild, the Guild Master.
Incidentally, the
Royal Capital's Guild Master is a former S-rank adventurer and is a first-class
adventurer in her own right.
Even after becoming
the Guild Master, she has apparently enlivened the Royal Capital's Adventurer's
Guild to an unprecedented degree. Now, she has gathered so much fighting
strength that even the bigwigs of the Royal Capital can't stand up to her.
The Guild Master seems
to have a hard time with her, but I'm very much looking forward to meeting her.
We stood before the
unusually luxurious door to the Guild Master's office, and after confirming a
reply from the other side—we entered the Guild Master's office.
