[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 134

Chapter 134

Explaining the Situation

Translator : PolterGlast

The day after going to check the Greatest family's home with the Guild Master. Since we went around looking at other potential sites after that one as well, I couldn't participate in the drinking party held at the tavern.

Because of that, I haven't been able to report to the two of them yet, so telling them about yesterday is today's top priority. I left the inn a little early and waited in front of the tavern, our usual meeting spot... when the two of them appeared, rubbing their sleepy eyes.

"Morning. You two look quite sleepy."

"Yaaawn, morning. We were drinking until late because we were waiting for you, Graham. ...Hey, why didn't you come yesterday!? You promised we'd have a drinking party!"

Switching from a sleepy tone, Aoi suddenly shifted gears and snapped at me. True, even though it got late, perhaps I should have at least shown my face.

"Sorry. We were looking at various places, and it took longer than expected, so I decided not to stop by the tavern."

"We heard the circumstances beforehand, so if it got late, it couldn't be helped. So, did you decide on a candidate location for the orphanage?"

"Yeah, I actually went to see it. The Guild Master found multiple candidates... but the former home of a noble family called Greatest was overwhelmingly the best."

"Even I've heard of the Greatest family! You're going to buy that house, Graham!?"

"It's not decided yet, but if it's an amount I can afford, I want to buy it."

Aoi seemed to know of the Greatest family, and her eyes were sparkling. Although it couldn't be helped since I didn't know, if we were actually going to see the property, I should have taken the two of them along.

"That's too amazing! It's truly an adventurer's dream!"

"Certainly. It's something I couldn't even have considered a little while ago. Adventurer is an amazing profession."

"No, no! The amazing one is you, Graham-san! Before meeting you, Graham-san, I couldn't earn anything at all despite trying for a month, you know!?"

"Ahaha! That's just because your methods were bad, Ginia, but it's also a fact that Graham is too amazing! He's just naturally way too strong, so I think he could have earned money even if he wasn't an adventurer!"

The two of them are giving me too much credit, but in my case, a large part of it is being blessed with luck. After all, everyone I met has been kind to me.

"Anyway, leaving aside talk of me, that's roughly what happened yesterday."

"Roger! I understand why you couldn't show up yesterday! So... what are we doing today? Accepting a high-reward request?"

"No, the high-reward requests we can accept are nothing special. We plan to take requests just like before, but today I'm planning to take a request near the Old Abandoned Road."

"That means we're going to see Bane-san for the first time in a while!"

"That's right. It's been a while since we returned from the Royal Capital, but things were hectic, so I hadn't been able to go show my face."

Just as Ginia guessed, I plan to go see Bane for the first time in a while while completing a request. I want to hear if anything happened during my absence, too.

"In that case, let's go see if there's a good request in that direction!"

"Right. If we tell her, I'm sure the receptionist will introduce one to us."

Cutting the conversation short in front of the tavern, we decided to head to the Adventurer's Guild. First, we'll complete the request, and then go to Bane's place.

After completing the request that the receptionist selected for us, we headed to Bane's place as planned. The Old Abandoned Road had become even cleaner than when I came before, and the path was firmly paved.

"It feels like it gets cleaner every time we visit! Is Bane-san cleaning it?"

"Nine times out of ten, I think Bane is instructing others to clean it. If it's this clean, people might start passing through again."

"They definitely won't! The reason no one approaches the Old Abandoned Road isn't because the road is bumpy and hard to travel, but because they're afraid of the 'Magician of Death'!"

"I don't know the details, but Bane-san was a famous monster, wasn't he? Now that he's gained even more strength after being named by Graham-san... it's true that no matter how clean it becomes, people might not approach."

He possesses decent strength now, but I feel like Bane before his evolution wasn't that big of a deal as a monster. ...Well, even so, he had power equivalent to a Red Ogre, so from a normal person's perspective, he was probably an object of terror.

As we advanced along the Old Abandoned Road discussing such things, a Ghost Wizard appeared from the front. Since I can sense magic power, I can detect its appearance beforehand, but to the two of them, it seemed to appear suddenly, and they let out small shrieks.

"Graham-sama, we have been waiting for you. I shall guide you to Bane-sama."

"—Appearing suddenly is too scary!"

"Seriously! Think a little more before appearing!"

"...My apologies. I will be careful from now on."

The Ghost Wizard apologizing profusely to the two. Once again, the sight of a monster apologizing to humans is too strange. Thinking that while calming Ginia and Aoi down, I headed toward Bane guided by the Ghost Wizard.
