[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 207

Chapter 207

The Visitor

Translator : PolterGlast

Two weeks have passed since the subjugation of the Crimsonroid. Having traveled continuously, I focused on resting my body while completing regular requests over these two weeks.

Thanks to that, I am not just fully recovered; my body is practically itching for action. However, Ginia and Aoi seem to be itching for action even more than I am, frequently pleading with me to let them fight strong monsters.

"Hey, hey, Graham! Let us fight a strong monster already! You said you were going alone to gather information, but you ended up defeating them all by yourself!"

"It was an emergency, so it couldn't be helped. I want to let you two fight strong monsters too, but..."

Muttering that, I looked at the wanted posters the Guild Master had prepared, but there weren't any monsters of an appropriate strength nearby. Judging from my bout with the Crimsonroid, I think a 3-Star (3) monster would be the perfect opponent, but... there aren't any.

"Are there no suitable opponents?"

"Yeah. It would turn into a long-term expedition, so we can't just head out casually. The closest monster on the wanted posters is a 5-Star (5), which is tough."

"You mean the highest difficulty? I don't really mind, though!"

"If it's too strong, I'll end up being the one to defeat it, right? If that happens, it's highly likely it will just be a wasted trip that took up travel time."

Even though I said closest, it's near Klingark, so it would take at least two days for a round trip. If they could face it even for a little bit, I think it would be worth heading there, but the 3-Star (3) Crimsonroid was stronger than I expected. Considering there's a possibility they wouldn't be able to do a single thing against a 5-Star (5), we can't head there casually.

"Does that mean we won't be able to fight strong enemies for a while?"

"That's how it is. I do plan to go subjugate them as soon as we have the time, though."

At my words, the two of them looked overtly disappointed. Just a little while ago, they seemed like they didn't want to fight strong monsters, but they've truly grown... or rather, they're becoming battle maniacs.

While I was thinking about such things, the house bell rang. Visitors are quite rare to begin with, but this is the first time the bell has been rung at night.

"Who could it be at this hour?"

"I don't know. I'll go check."

Remaining cautious just in case, I opened the door... and standing there was the Guild Master.

"Guild Master...? What brings you here at this hour?"

"I have something to discuss with you, Graham-san, so I dropped by after work. May I come in?"

"Of course. Come in."

I invited the Guild Master into the house. Since he went out of his way to come, I thought it was an emergency, but he didn't seem panicked, so it didn't feel like urgent business.

For now, I'll show him to the reception room and hear him out. After asking Tricia to brew some tea, I decided to immediately hear what the Guild Master had to say.

"So, what brings you here? It doesn't seem like an emergency."

"Yeah. It's not exactly an emergency. Our timing just didn't align for me to call you to the Guild Master's office, so I came here instead."

"Is that so. It was a sudden visit, so I ended up bracing myself for nothing."

"Sorry for surprising you. Considering the time, I'll get straight to the point... The monster materials I was holding onto have been sold."

Saying that, the Guild Master pulled a bulging hemp sack from his chest pocket. It seems he brought the money from selling the Meteor Demon Bird and Crimsonroid materials.

"So you managed to sell them properly this time as well."

"It was a request from you, Graham-san, so of course. Besides, both the Meteor Demon Bird and the Crimsonroid are famous monsters. I had no trouble finding buyers for their materials."

My expectations were already rising just looking at the bulging hemp sack, so it seems it's safe to expect a lot. Taking a breath, I checked the contents of the hemp sack.

Inside were a massive amount of gold coins. And I could see platinum coins mixed in here and there.

"This many gold coins... Guild Master, is it really okay for me to accept this?"

"What do you mean 'is it okay'? It's the money from selling the materials you obtained, Graham-san. Use it however you please."

"Thank you. I'm constantly indebted to you, Guild Master. Thanks to this, I won't have to worry about managing this place for the time being."

"I'm definitely the one indebted to you, though... Well, as long as I can be of help to you, Graham-san, I suppose it's fine."

Although he didn't seem entirely convinced by my words of gratitude, the Guild Master swallowed his objections. The Guild Master always seems to be thanking me, but it's obvious I'm the one being taken care of.

"If you're ever in trouble, tell me anything. If it's something I can do, I'll do it."

"It's nothing but peaceful thanks to you, Graham-san. There isn't anything troubling me, but... ah, that's right. Graham-san, do you remember a Guild Master named Lynette?"

Lynette... If I recall correctly, she was the Guild Master who brought the party Battenberg along with her.

"I remember. She's the Guild Master who brought Battenberg, right?"

"Yeah, that's right. That Lynette sent a request asking you to come over, Graham-san. It's entirely up to you whether you go or not, but if you have free time, I think it might be worth a visit. After all, the city where Lynette is located is known as the Dungeon City."

It's true that I'm somewhat interested in a Dungeon City. The dungeon in the Royal Capital was interesting too, and just the word 'dungeon' alone raises my expectations.

Besides... there should be about two monsters from the wanted posters near the Dungeon City. If it's a dungeon, there's a possibility there are monsters perfectly suited for Ginia and Aoi, so going there might be a viable option.
