Chapter 147
A New Power
「Ah, right. I should tell Lirica
and Priola at this stage. About the Gift I possess.」
「...The Gift you received from
the Creator God, correct?」
「...Right, I've been wondering about
that too. Is it really that unusual to meet that God?」
The
handsome God I met is apparently called the Creator God. Since Gods don't have
names, he is generally just called the Creator God. He is the genuine God who
created this world, and even in this world where Gods actually exist, it seems there
are hardly any people who can actually meet a God. My being able to meet him
was apparently quite a miracle. Perhaps it was a connection I grasped precisely
because I was destined to become a splatter. It pays to be a shut-in! (Positive
thinking)
「Being able to meet a God means you
have received that much favor...」
「In other words, it is considered
proof that you have been bestowed with an equally powerful strength.」
Priola continued Lirica's words. I
see, that certainly might be the case. Although I chose after they were
somewhat distributed to everyone, I was able to choose a usable Gift
myself, and if anything, I managed to draw the jackpot Gift known as Home.
Creator
God, thank you very much. Thanks to you, I feel like I can keep doing my best
from here on out.
「Oops, sorry, let's get back on
topic. Regarding my Gift...」
I
walked with Lirica and the other towards the point where the door was
placed and touched the doorknob. My Gift, which I haven't told anyone
about yet, except for Miku. I never really imagined I'd end up telling
my disciple, the daughter of the Demon Lord, before my classmates.
Beyond
the door that only I can touch lies my nostalgic home. ...No, it's no longer a
door that only I can touch.
「This is my Gift, Home...
A Gift that recreates my home from before I was transferred to another
world using magic.」
「The Home Gift...」
「I have lived a long time, but this
is the first time I've heard of such a Gift...」
The
two looked around the entryway of my home with deep interest. The narrow
hallway, the replica of a painting I don't really understand hanging there...
Having them stare at it so intently makes me feel a little embarrassed. I
wonder why inviting friends to your house makes you feel strangely restless.
Ideally,
I'd like to welcome them properly and guide them inside my home, but we don't
have much time right now, so we just went back out through the door. The place
the door leads to is, of course, a spot close to the Demon Territory Zwaarth's
city. To avoid standing out, I chose a spot behind a rock this time.
「Wh-Where is this...?」
「It's a rocky area in the Demon
Territory Zwaarth. It's about a ten-minute brisk walk to the city of
Ronack from here.」
「Don't tell me... long-distance
teleportation magic!? I thought that was a legendary feat only attainable at
the absolute pinnacle of Space-Time Magic...!?」
Ah,
excuse me, it's nothing that grand. It's just the power of my Home. The
distance I can teleport with Jaunt has increased compared to before, but
it'll probably still take a while before I can move back and forth as freely as
I can with Home.
「My Home Gift allows me
to place a door at any arbitrary location and exit to any location of my
choosing. So I can also use it as teleportation magic like this. And actually,
my Gift leveled up a little while ago, and I became able to obtain this.」
Perhaps
feeling anxious about where we were, Lirica seemed to be on guard
against our surroundings. I handed it to her. What lay there was a
single key. That's right, this is the new power I obtained—a spare key.
「This is a key connected to the
sub-space of my Home. I'm giving this to you, Lirica. It's a
single-use item, but by using this, you'll be able to enter Home.」
The
ability of the spare key is to generate one key per day that allows someone
other than me to enter Home. To think that an ability allowing people
other than me to use Home would be unlocked at this point... If other
people start living here with this power, would it even be my 'home'
anymore...? I feel like I'm going to experience semantic satiation with the
word "home".
「For now, the only place you can
enter using this spare key is from the spot where I placed the door. Can you
see this door, Lirica?」
「Y-Yes, I can see it! A door is
floating in mid-air!」
「You can only return to Home
from the point where that door is floating, so be careful.」
Lirica is in a position where she is being
targeted by a demon leader named Odd. To make it easier for her to
escape when push comes to shove, maybe I should place a door near the city too.
Previously, it was difficult to completely fix the location even when using Door
Placement, but perhaps because I've spammed the Home Gift so
much, I can now do it completely freely.
Currently,
the number of demons I've defeated is roughly a little over 300. Therefore,
there should still be just under 700 demon combatants in that city. If we
include non-combatants, there are apparently around 2,000 of them. And just as
I imagined, it seems that even though it's a territory of the Subjugation
Faction, demons from the Integration Faction and Neutral Faction
are mixed in. My guess that there are probably humans there too wasn't wrong
either. Thank goodness... I'm glad I didn't just give in to momentum and try to
crush everything.
Because
of that, I decided to ask Lirica to stay behind and look after the house
this time. Since we aren't going to massacre everyone, we need to prevent her
existence from being known to avoid information leaks.
「Sorry, Lirica, looks like I'm
leaving you out.」
「N-No! Rather, I'm extremely grateful
to be allowed to use your Gift, Masaru-sama.」
While
we head to Zwaarth, I decided to have her use the training room at Home
right away. Ah, by the way, I've already expanded the training room to its
limit by pouring MP into it. The space has expanded even further,
reaching a size that probably not even a ridiculously large gym in the
countryside could match. I try to use it at least once a day, and thanks to
maxing it out, there is now a machine prepared that can improve a total of 5
stats in a single training session. By the way, I can still only use the one
that increases stats by 3. However, it seems to increase based on the amount of
usage, so I'm just taking my time with it.
「So, what I want you to do, Lirica,
is... this!」
「Th-This is...」
Sitting
there with a heavy thud was a running machine that (subjectively) looked
like it was waiting for someone to run on it. The first thing I want her to
train is her agility. After accumulating a fair amount of combat experience,
I've realized that agility is still the most important thing. Just being faster
than your opponent means you can attack them unilaterally, so as expected,
agility resolves everything.
「I see, so this is... a magic tool to
develop arm strength by lifting it like this!」
「W-Wait, no! That's not it, so don't
move it too much!」
Having
made a mysteriously incorrect deduction, Lirica gripped the part of the
running machine where you rest your hands and tried to lift it, so I hurriedly
stopped her. I explained to her how to use the machine, that one set takes
three hours, and the stat values it increases.
「A magic tool that raises your stats
just by training... To think such a thing existed in this world...」
「Could this be... a divine artifact
of national treasure class...」
Lirica and Priola's eyes were
sparkling as they looked at the running machine. So this is the impression
people of this world have... But it's true that an apparatus capable of
increasing stats regardless of LV is amazing, isn't it? It seems there
is no way to raise stats in this world other than leveling up.
(If
that's the case, then my power is...)
There's
no doubt it would be highly coveted by those whose LV has plateaued, or
those in situations where they can't easily raise their LV. If this
power gets exposed too much, Odd might frantically try to hunt me
down instead of Lirica. Come to think of it, talking with Lirica
reminded me of when I met the Creator God, and he told me to use this skill to
save the world. Indeed, this Gift—which not only allows me to raise my
own magic LV but also train others—might truly possess the potential to
change the world.
「Will you be okay with three hours of
running?」
「Yes, I used to do that much
frequently back in my hometown!」
Since
demons seem to have different base physical specs, it should be fine. After
confirming that, and making sure to properly prepare a plastic bottle for
hydration, I started it up. The remaining time was displayed, and the running
machine began to move.
「Wow, amazing! It started moving!」
The
belt moved, and Lirica started running to match it. It started at a slow
pace but gradually sped up, maintaining a speed that would definitely exhaust
you if you were running a marathon at that pace.
「Do your best, Lirica. If you
still have energy after the three hours are up, it's fine to do another set.」
「Huff, huff... Yes, understood!」
Watching Lirica, who seemed to be maintaining the pace with relative ease, I suddenly felt a moment of calm realization, wondering if running was really the right thing for a master to have her do first. ...W-Well, since I know from personal experience that leveling up will eventually hit a plateau anyway, there's no problem having her train first! Man, I feel like I've done something master-like for the first time. I really hope Lirica goes as far as breaking past the limit of her agility, just like I did!
