Chapter 4
Carefully
Translator : PolterGlast
The door, with its
slightly peeling paint, disappeared without a sound as I passed through it.
When I looked back,
there was nothing there.
I see, so this is what
happens when I leave home...
By the way, when I
tried to summon it again, I was able to make it appear without any problems.
The sight of my home
standing in the middle of a grassland was very surreal.
When I checked my
stats, I found that it cost 20 MP to summon my home.
There's no limit to
the number of times I can summon it, so I'll go back home if I get tired or
nearly die.
I might even go home
to recharge my batteries every time something unpleasant happens.
After all, I'm a
shut-in who's suddenly been transported to another world, so it's best to be a
little cautious.
By the way, my current
outfit is probably quite different from the standard in this world.
I've tried to wear
clothes that look the part, with a plain white shirt on top and faded, ripped
jeans on the bottom.
I borrowed my dad's
Inverness coat because I thought it would be cold, but it's actually hot
because it's spring.
But it's silly to use
20 MP just to put the coat away, so I should just put up with it.
I'm also wearing the
sneakers I used to wear when I was going to school.
They're breathable and
thin, so I don't feel any weight when I walk.
I've been regularly
applying waterproofing spray, so they're barely dirty.
"Wow... it's so
green..."
I was so overwhelmed
by the sight before me that I could only come up with such a stupid comment.
I could feel the solid
feel of the earth under my feet.
The sound of the grass
rustling in the wind, and the sound of birds chirping in the distance.
The strangely greenery
smell that wafts through the air.
It's mixed with the
earthy smell of rain.
It's a great
wilderness that you wouldn't see in Japan.
Being surrounded by
nature like this makes me realize how insignificant I am.
It's not that simple
to just say that I was stupid to be so hung up on little things and stay at
home... but I felt a little lighter.
"It's so vast...
it's green all the way to the horizon... as expected of another world..."
I observed my
surroundings while muttering to myself, which is obviously becoming more and
more frequent due to the fact that I've been cooped up in my home even after
coming to another world.
The grassland I came
to was apparently quite large, and I couldn't see the end of it even when I
looked left and right.
Come to think of it...
huh?
Has my eyesight
improved?
I can focus on things
in the distance very easily.
When I strain my eyes,
I can even see the veins of leaves in the far distance.
My eyesight, which was
barely good enough to not need glasses, had improved so much that I was
surprised.
I think it's probably
around 2 or 3, not just 1.
I also noticed a few
other changes in my body.
When I moved my body
lightly, I noticed that my movements were much sharper than I expected.
"My body moves so
well that I can't believe my agility has dropped by 2 after being a shut-in for
a month."
Apparently, my body
has been transformed into something special by coming to another world.
I don't think I can
quit being human or break rocks with my bare hands, but my specs have improved
enough to run 50 meters in under 6 seconds.
Or maybe it's because
the god has reconstructed my body.
Thank you for
everything, god.
When I offered a light
prayer to the sky, I thought I saw an illusion of the god giving me a thumbs
up.
"Buhiiiiii~!"
"W-what?!"
Just as I was about to
finish my prayer and eat the pastry I had brought with me, a loud noise
suddenly rang out.
I instinctively ducked
down and searched for the source of the sound.
...I was so
overwhelmed by the emotion of landing in another world that I had completely
forgotten that this was a world of swords and sorcery inhabited by monsters.
The danger level is
vastly different from modern Japan.
I'm currently LV 1.
If this is a world
where "LV 100 is full-fledged adult,
while LV 1 is only for elementary school students!", then I could
be in trouble right away.
When I raised my head
slightly to see, I couldn't help but swallow my saliva.
"Bufuu..."
In the distance, I saw
an odd-looking monster that looked like a big pig's head attached to a very
muscular human body.
That's... a monster.
Perhaps because my
hearing has improved, I can even hear its breathing clearly.
Its appearance was
exactly like that of an orc from a fantasy novel.
But my first encounter
is with a monster, not a person...
I know I can go back
home if I need to, but my body is stiff with tension.
I noticed that my
palms were sweating profusely.
Should I retreat, or
should I fight?
I need to choose
carefully--.
