[WN] Shut-In : Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Fate

Translator : PolterGlast

Although it should have been relatively close, the orc didn't seem to notice me, perhaps because its eyesight wasn't as good as mine.

The orc was holding a large, grub-like insect in its hand, sniffing excitedly.

Apparently, the insect was freshly caught, and it was wriggling.

Speaking of which, that insect is pretty big... it's about the size of a puppy.

I was a little relieved that it hadn't noticed me.

I guess it couldn't help but shout when it saw its delicious giant grub.

That orc might be a gourmet reporter (definitely not).

I watched the orc single-mindedly devouring the caterpillar with gusto.

For now, its attention is completely focused on the grub.

This is my chance to strike him by surprise.

I'm a little scared to go into actual combat right away, but I should definitely test the power of my magic.

...Okay, I'll try a hit-and-run tactic for now.

I stood up, pointing my right hand at the orc and my left hand behind me.

Then I activated the [Home] gift with my left hand.

I summoned my home from the subspace, grabbed the doorknob with my left hand, and opened the door.

After preparing to escape immediately, I decided to unleash my magic with my right hand.

I don't know how strong my opponent is... so I'll use the strongest magic I can use right now.

I'm going to use the strongest lightning magic I can unleash, which I can use when my lightning magic reaches LV 10.

I couldn't use magic in my home, so this is the very first time I'm actually using magic.

Speaking of which... it takes a long time to use it, even though it's my first time.

It takes 10 seconds just to prepare, so maybe it's a spell that's meant to be used when someone is buying time for you.

"--Gungnir!"

The lightning magic Gungnir is a spell that fires a powerful lightning spear.

Lightning formed into the shape of a spear by magic power is accelerated even further by lightning, using the principle of a railgun, and fired at ultra-high speed.

I was hoping to take it down somehow... but the result was beyond my imagination.

Boom!!!

The lightning spear I unleashed flew with a tremendous sound.

The spear pierced through the orc's body, charring it in an instant.

And even after piercing through it, its momentum didn't diminish at all, and it continued to tear through the grassland at tremendous speed.

Thanks to the shock waves it was scattering around as it crackled with electricity, the grass in its path was scorched at an incredible rate, leaving a terrible scene as if the place where Gungnir had passed had been dug up by heavy machinery.

Perhaps because the sound and light of that single blow were so intense, the birds that had been pecking at seeds on the ground took off all at once, and the giant grub that the orc had been eating earlier popped out of the ground.

"...That was a bit overkill."

I don't know if it was the lightning magic that was bad, or if it was bad to use LV 10 magic... probably the latter.

...I'll seal LV 10 magic for a while, yeah!

"I had no idea which way to go... but I guess I'll go in the direction Gungnir flew off to for now."

I'm probably the only one in the world who would go in the direction they unleashed Gungnir when they didn't know which way to go.

Perhaps my magic attack has caused damage to people or buildings.

I hope nothing happened...

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

And a miracle happened.

When I traced Gungnir's path, I found a road that was clearly man-made!

By the way, the road was slightly torn up by Gungnir's shock wave.

So I quietly fixed it with earth magic, which I'm not very good at, and continued on as if nothing had happened.

I'll take the fact that I destroyed the road to my grave.

Then, I walked along the road for a while.

As I was making my way along the road, confirming that orcs and goblins could be defeated even with level 1 magic, I saw a large town.

That's probably... Grisnia, the capital of the Grust Kingdom.

--The capital of the country that summoned us class 1-A, and the place where I was supposed to be transferred to. A fateful place.
