"Gosh! That sly teacheeeeer!"

"Anri, please calm down a bit."

While watching my best friend downing cheap liquor next to me at the counter, I ordered water just in case. The well-mannered, bearded master quickly prepared a glass of water for me.

This is my favorite bar in the administrative district. It's characterized by its chic atmosphere and stylish interior, which makes extensive use of glossy wood.

I had invited Anri out for a drink after work, and we came here, but my best friend immediately ordered strong liquor and emptied her glass one after another.

Since she started assisting with the tenth rank, my best friend had been getting upset fairly often, but today she was more disgruntled than usual.

Apparently, she had been nagged relentlessly by Kaskel-sensei about a certain student. Furthermore, she had been invited to a meal with considerable condescension.

"What was that about wasting time on worthless pebbles being pointless, huh?! Are you even a teacher?!"

My best friend spat out, "You incompetent teacher!" and chugged sake straight from the bottle, causing me to sigh.

Kaskel Mathiart is the homeroom teacher of the second-year tenth rank, which Anri is assisting. In other words, she is Anri's de facto immediate superior.

Being from the noble class, he is apparently quite proud and treats the tenth-rank students, who rarely get any recognition, with indifference.

"On top of that, what was that about how he's an imperial noble once he returns to his hometown?! Does he have to act superior just to invite someone to a meal?!"

"Oh dear..."

Anri is generally always smiling and has a big heart, but even she has her limits. Seeing her this furious, Kaskel must have been making some persistent advances.

Indeed, my best friend is beautiful. She has a figure that fully embodies feminine softness. Her motherly smile is attractive even to another woman, and being by her side always brings a sense of peace. She's definitely a keeper.

She has received many confessions from men, even back in our student days. Thinking about it makes me a little annoyed.

However, there's no sign of a man in my best friend's life right now. Her mind is completely occupied with the student in question.

"So, how has the student that the princess is so concerned about been lately?"

As I said this, I swapped the sake in front of Anri with the water I had ordered. It was about time I stopped her from drinking so much.

I also changed the subject to try and calm her agitated feelings, even a little.

"...Absolutely no good. Always alone, always covered in injuries. He's still going into the Spasim Forest by himself, and he won't listen even when I tell him to join a party."

Anri, who had gulped down the water I had switched, suddenly collapsed onto the counter.

My best friend, who had been so furious just a moment ago, had become unbelievably dejected.

Oops, I had invited Anri out for drinks, intending to cheer her up since she'd been a little down lately, but it backfired. Should I have brought up a different topic?

"What should I do~? Oh, right! What if I just stay with him all the time~?"

"...Huh?"

For a moment, I couldn't understand what my best friend was saying. My thoughts weren't connecting at all.

A few seconds later, I finally remembered the environment of the student in question. He was one of the students in the tenth rank whose grades were particularly stagnant, and he must have been the target of scorn within the class.

"That's a great idea! That way, Nozomu-kun won't be exposed to unreasonable violence, and it'll also be helpful for him since he's hit a wall with his abilities~!"

"No, that's..."

My best friend suddenly started saying something completely off the wall, and I realized I had been too late in stopping her from drinking. Originally gentle and laid-back, when Anri drinks, her already somewhat detached thoughts sometimes wander off in completely bizarre directions.

"We'll take classes together, eat together, train together... yeah! We can do it, we can do it!"

"No way that'll work. Professionally, there will be times you have to be apart, and there will definitely be places where you can't keep an eye on him."

I tried to steer her back on track, even a little, but I had no idea how effective it would be.

Even though Anri is popular with the students, she's a new teacher. If she gives special treatment to one student, it will create resentment from the others.

Besides, he lives in the dorms. They will inevitably be separated after school. Anri can't be by his side all the time.

"Then, we can just live in the same house~! I have a room available, just right..."

"No, no, that would be a problem!"

This wasn't good. This naturally airheaded girl, completely ignoring her position and reality, had set a course to be with Nozomu-kun 24/7.

I had no choice but to persuade her from a different angle and make her give up on this idea...

"In the first place, just like with me, Nozomu-kun hasn't opened up to you that much yet, right?"

"Ugh..."

In reality, he hadn't opened up to anyone in the academy. I had tried counseling him several times, but there had been no progress. Honestly, I think it would be better for him to look for a different path rather than staying at the academy like this...

"If you stick to him too persistently, it'll have the opposite effect. In fact, there's a higher possibility he'll avoid you even more... huh?"

"Waaaaah! Norn, you idiot~!"

"Ah, hey, wait!"

Suddenly bursting into tears, Anri jumped up from her seat. Then, bam! She forcefully slammed open the entrance door and dashed outside.

She must have been unconsciously not holding back. The hinges of the door, opened with such force, snapped off, and the door itself flew away.

The detached rectangular door fell onto the road visible beyond the square door frame at the bar's entrance.

At the same time, the air inside the bar froze. Well, of course. The scene before them wouldn't look like something a petite woman, even an adult like Anri, could do.

Often misunderstood due to her appearance like a sheltered young lady, Anri is actually a teacher at Solminati Academy.

Furthermore, she excels in Ki Arts and is an expert in wielding various weapons from all over the world and throughout history. However, right now she was like a rampaging wild horse. I had to chase after her quickly...

"Sorry, Master. About the repair costs..."

"The hinges were bad to begin with. I was planning to repair it soon anyway, so don't worry about it. More importantly, you should go after her quickly."

The master, wiping glasses with a composed expression, was the only one in the deathly silent bar who seemed unfazed. I felt a surge of gratitude for his consideration. He was a truly wonderful person. I was a little drawn to him.

"Thank you... Heyyy, Anri! Don't go rampaging through the night streets with your Ki-enhanced body! You're going to cause trouble~!"

For now, I put all the money in my wallet on the counter and chased after my best friend.

From far away, I could hear the sound of paving stones being crushed with heavy thuds. It seemed she had run off in that direction. Honestly, I can use magic, but body enhancement isn't really my forte!

Later, the story of two women rampaging through the administrative district spread through the academy, and Anri and I were summoned to the faculty office, where we both received a scolding.

By the way, the master I thought was a little nice was already married. His wife was petite but seemed to have the same kind of warm, nurturing aura as my best friend. Damn it...
