Volume 7
Protagonist
Nozomu Bountis
A young man from Oire
Village in a frontier country.
He enrolled in
Solminati Academy to fulfill a promise to his childhood friend and lover, Lisa
Hounds, and threw himself into rigorous training.
However, he was caught
in a cunning plot born from the jealousy of his other childhood friend, Ken
Notice, and also fell from grace due to the effects of his ability
"Ability Suppression," which severely limited his own abilities. He
was labeled as the lowest of the low.
In despair, he entered
the demonic beast-infested forest alone, clinging to the baseless fantasy that
Lisa might turn back to him if he became stronger, where he was attacked by
demonic beasts and nearly died.
At that time, his life
was saved by the master of swordsmanship, Shino Mikagura, and from then on, he
studied swordsmanship under her tutelage.
The training she imposed
on him was so harsh that it made the academy's training seem like child's play,
but it caused the talent he possessed to blossom, and he quickly became
proficient in swordsmanship.
However, while the
harsh training gave Nozomu the power he sought, it also ended up giving him an
excuse to run away into training.
And two years later,
he accidentally wandered into the sealed world where Tiamat was confined, and
as a result of fighting her, he defeated her through a series of miracles with
astronomical odds. He ended up absorbing her power and soul, and from there,
his strange fate began.
Overcoming the death
of his master, and while being aware of his own escapism, in the academy life
he faced once again, he formed connections with many new friends, starting with
Irisdina and Mars, and gradually deepened their bonds.
However, during the
special general exercises, he clashed with Mars for not using Tiamat's power
against an attacking corpse dragon.
After that, while
waiting in the forest to talk again, he was attacked by the revived corpse
dragon, and at that time, he was deceived by Tiamat's illusions and turned his
blade on Irisdina and the others.
However, he was freed
from the illusions by their devotion.
Despite the oversized
bomb known as Tiamat that he was carrying, and the fact that he had turned his
blade on them, he cherished his comrades who had worried about him, and in the
midst of that, he decided to settle the distorted relationship between his
childhood friends and began to act.
He tried to contact
Lisa many times to let her know who he was now, and in a joint class set up by
his homeroom teacher, Norun, he fought a close battle with Jihad.
Furthermore, from the
fact that he had built a close relationship with the honor students of the
academy, Irisdina and the others, the rumor that Ken had spread began to
gradually fall apart.
After that, due to
Ken's rampage, driven by jealousy and impatience, and the intervention of Abyss
Grief, Lisa was captured in a predation barrier, but with the cooperation of
his comrades, Zonne, and Jihad and the others, he rescued Lisa and defeated the
Ken who had merged with Abyss Grief.
After that, he was
unconscious for a while, but he recovered safely.
And just as he was
about to settle his relationship with Lisa, at the place where they had
arranged to meet, he was attacked by Azel, who had been chasing Tiamat.
At that time, Lisa was
injured. The enraged Nozomu went on a rampage, synchronizing with the hatred of
Tiamat, who hated the dragon race.
The rampaging Nozomu
was brought back to his senses with the cooperation of the rushed-over Irisdina
and the others, Lisa, and Zonne, but he was ashamed of having turned his blade
on his comrades twice, and he realized that he had been depending on Irisdina
and the others without noticing.
And deciding to face
the fate he held within himself in the true sense, he said goodbye to the
childhood friend with whom he had once made a promise.
Protagonist's
Abilities
His rank at the
academy is D-, but in reality, he is a powerhouse far beyond that.
The swordsmanship he
has mastered is the Mikagura-ryu style of swordsmanship, which originated from
a festival and has been systemized over many years to be practical.
His skill in
swordsmanship is already comparable to his master, Shino Mikagura, and his ki
control is particularly outstanding. Its precision is such that it made Jihad
say that he had surpassed him.
Also, perhaps because
he had continued to train against demonic beasts in the forest and other
places, his ability to sense presences is also excellent, and he can perform
martial arts with his sword still in its scabbard.
What he excels at is a
ki technique called "Phantom," which applies a hyper-compressed ki
blade to his sword, and it has a cutting power that can easily bisect steel
armor.
Also, due to his own
small amount of ki, most of the offensive ki techniques he uses are inevitably
highly lethal.
Nozomu himself also
understands the lethality of his own ki techniques, and he does not use
offensive ki techniques in his usual training.
But when facing an
all-out Nozomu, combined with his own skill in swordsmanship, it is dangerous
to even cross blades with him in close-range combat. One must not challenge
this man to a close-range fight.
On the other hand, he
is not good at using magic.
Although he can
control his magic power to some extent, he could not use magic due to the
effects of his ability suppression and had not even been able to train, so his
control of formulas is far too immature.
Therefore, he can
hardly use general formula-based magic at all.
However, if he can
secure enough magic power, it seems there is some room for him to use
formation-based magic to some extent.
Also, if it is a
ritual martial art, which completely relies on the precision of his martial
arts for its formula, he can use it without any problem.
When he releases
Tiamat's power, his nearly inexhaustible amount of ki and drastically increased
physical abilities, combined with his highly lethal ki techniques and
outstanding swordsmanship skills, make him even more difficult to handle.
His ability in that
state is such that, according to Shino Mikagura, he even has the potential to
defeat an SS-rank existence, of which there are only a few on the continent.
On the other hand,
since the interference from Tiamat also increases, depending on Nozomu's own
mental state, it carries the risk of him going on a rampage.
Also, since Tiamat's
power is too great to be contained in Nozomu's individual body, just by
releasing the power, his body begins to self-destruct.
Soul-Sealing Chains
A unique ability that
had awakened when Nozomu became a dragonslayer.
It is a transformation
of the ability "Ability Suppression" that Nozomu possessed, which
occurred when he became a dragonslayer. He himself did not notice that it had
awakened and had thought that it was still an ability suppression all this
time.
Its ability is, as its
name suggests, the sealing of a soul.
It is a unique ability
that seals an existence connected to the user's soul, and it has a binding
power so strong that it can even seal Tiamat.
However, for that
reason, it has also bound Nozomu's own soul, and most of his abilities have
ended up being sealed.
A unique ability named
by Zonne, who had examined Nozomu's soul. However, since Zonne himself cannot
interfere with what is happening to his soul, the details are unknown. The
above abilities are what Zonne has found out as a result of observing Nozomu's
state from the outside.
