Episode 75: Summer! Training
Camp! The Ocean! Swimsuit Event!
The day after
MonColo. The ninth day of summer vacation.
For some reason, I
was lying on a beach chair in swimwear at the beach.
Ahead of me was the
white sandy beach with no speck of trash on it, the emerald ocean, and the
monster cards playing around in ---- their swimsuits.
The ones who had been
playing beach volleyball for a while now were the kid duo of Renge and Mea,
together with the cool duo: the Aradia of my Teacher, along with Anna’s Elf.
They were engaged in
a heated exchange of words accompanied by a volleyball for monster sports,
which does not break even when struck by the monster card's power.
"Orahh! Drop
dead, you friggin' magical girl!"
"I'm not a magical girl...... I'm a proper witch.
I'm a grown woman too......."
"What kind of a grown woman are you? You stumpy little shit!"
"You, dare to call others that...? Besides, I have bigger breasts and I'm taller than
you."
"I have a trump card, my beautiful woman form!"
"That's a foul. It doesn't count."
While Renge and
Aradia were having a barren argument, Mea and the Elf also exchanged verbal
barbs.
"Hey you, don't use the same style as Mea!"
"And I told you, we don't even share the same style
at all.....!"
"The loser of this has to get a makeover!"
"Tsk, still can't get through to you as always......!"
The beach volleyball
game between the four was quite exciting, but unfortunately, all of them were
either loli or slim-chested, so there was nothing to jiggle when they flew or
bounced around.
By the way, Renge was
wearing a sporty red and white swimsuit, and Mea was wearing a white and pink
striped bikini.
Renge's outfit was
not sexy, but it gave a sense of vitality that was so her, while Mea's was
cute, as if she was a girl who had just entered junior high school and decided
to choose a more grown-up bikini.
Jeanette (the Aradia)
also looked good in a one-piece swimsuit, and Tanya (the Elf) looked great in a
cross-design bikini, but ...... they still didn't appear to have much sex
appeal.
Yuki, who was in
charge of the referee, also wore a blue swimming suit, which brought a healthy
charm to the forefront rather than sex appeal.
In terms of sex
appeal...... it was Eliza and Suzuka, the mature duo.
Speaking of Eliza,
she was lying next to me, fanning me with a fan to create a comfortable breeze.
She was wearing a
black halter-neck bikini, which was designed for adults and showed off her
voluptuous bosom and long, slender legs.
The see-through pareo
(wraparound skirt) and straw hat-like black beach hat made her look a little
celebrity-like ...... or somehow, had a mistress-like sexiness.
When you have such a
girl fanning you with a large fan while you lie on a beach chair, you almost
feel as if you are a millionaire.
As for the other
member of the mature duo, she was just cooling off under a beach parasol.
She was sitting
quietly with her huge breasts between her legs, watching Renge and the other
girls play beach volleyball with a look of boredom on her face.
Suzuka noticed my
gaze and came over to me with a grin on her face.
"Sa~y, Master. What do you think of this swimsuit? I picked a design that I thought you would like. Does it
suit me?"
Suzuka lifted the
pareo around her waist like a courtesy and asked me what I thought of it.
I took this as
permission to take a closer look at it, so I decided to let myself observe
without hesitation.
Suzuka's swimsuit was
a lace-up one-piece outfit with a purple base color. Lace-up was a design that
laces up the cleavage and was usually intended to be sexy but not too much...
However, due to her enormous bosom, the design completely accentuated her
chest.
If Eliza's swimsuit
had the neat yet sexy appeal of an adult, Suzuka's was completely erotic, like
that of an AV actress or gravure idol's swimsuit.
If I were asked which
I liked better, I would hesitate and then say, "Both..." and become
shy.
By the way, the
swimsuits they put on were the 'Mermaid's swimsuit' artificial magic items that
I got from the packs dubbed as worthless.
In addition to its
main effect of assisting movement in the water and prolonging breath, this
magic item also had the function of changing the design of the swimsuit to
whatever the owner wished.
That was why they
were wearing a wide variety of swimsuits.
I had eleven pieces
of this worthless magic item, but when I look at this view, I feel like I'm
good with it.
And if you think
about it, there wasn't that much to spare for me with Athena, Nike, and Silky
the maid master.
It would have been
embarrassing for me to go to the store to buy them in bulk, so I'll just be
glad that I won them from the packs.
As I was feeding my
eyes while thinking about this.......
"Maro,...... you have a terrible dirty look on your
face,......."
My Teacher, who had
arrived before I knew it, looked at me and said that with a frown on his face.
He was wearing a
large swimwear that covered his knees and a T-shirt plus a hoodie on top, which
hid his skin.
But I didn't bother
to mention it.
"By the way, Teacher, I bought a guild pack the
other day, and I won that medicine, so I'll give it to you."
"Oh! Thank you! That's
hard to come by, so that's helpful. Hmm, is the regular price okay?"
"No, it's free. I'm indebted to you in many
ways."
"That's not right. This kind of thing has to be
settled properly even if we are close friends. How about exchanging it for a
D-rank card?"
After saying that, he
pulled out a bunch of cards from his card case and handed them to me.
I took them and
looked at them, but none of them seemed to interest me.
Although there were
some girl cards mixed in here and there, the variety of my D-rank cards had
increased considerably with the recent packs, and there was nothing that would
stimulate my collector's desire.
And, at that moment.
"Oh, there's a Menja. Is it OK to take this? I'll make up the difference with the money."
"Menja? Ah,
you got Fenja. Yeah, that's fine. You can keep the money."
"Teacher...... you said yourself that we have to be
strict about this kind of thing."
I said this with
astonishment, and Teacher smiled at me.
"It's supply and demand. It's a fair exchange
between something I can't always get even if I have the money and a card you
can't use when you only have one card."
"...... Well, if that's what Teacher says, then it's
all good."
Since this was a
sensitive topic, I backed off and said so.
"That said, I'm glad we could do the camp properly,
even if it turned out a little differently than we had planned."
"You're right... I'm sorry that you have to
accommodate my circumstances."
As I said this, I
thought back to how I came to be in this ocean dungeon.
---- Yesterday. At
noon on the eighth day of summer vacation.
We had gathered at
the family restaurant near the school after being summoned by Anna.
"I apologize for causing so much trouble regarding
the holding of the camp due to my incompetence."
Anna, who had been
released on bail after a week's detention, opened her mouth in apology and
bowed her head.
Her face was filled
with guilt as well as a sense of liberation at having gained her temporary
freedom.
However, she would be
bound for another round of supplementary lessons in a week.
"So! It's a short time until the next supplementary
lesson starts, but I would like to have a training camp!"
""Oo~h!""
Anna's declaration
was met with thunderous applause from Teacher and Sayo.
Anna, who was
accepting it with a nod, suddenly noticed that I was the only one not clapping
and tilted her head.
"About that..."
I raised my hand and
said,
"Sorry, I don't think I'll be able to participate
this time."
My decision not to
participate sent shock waves through the Adventurers' Club.
"W-, whawha whawha, why?"
"Actually....."
I told Anna, who was
upset, that I was going to participate in the MonColo race.
"It's like that, so I'm sorry! I really want the prize, the succubus with [Zero
existence] skill."
I apologized,
knocking my head against the table, to which Anna nodded and said, "I
see......."
"If that's the case, let's use this training camp to
prepare for that race."
I rounded my eyes at
this unexpected suggestion.
"That's very nice to hear, but...... is that
okay?"
"Well, the plan itself is already in a mess because
of me. It's not easy to go on an overseas expedition or conquer a C-rank
dungeon in a week. ......In fact, having a clear goal is much more motivating
than just attacking a random dungeon! Right,
everyone?"
Both Teacher and
Oribe nodded enthusiastically at Anna's confirmation.
"Of course."
"It would be more fun that way."
"Ooh! Thank
you!"
I was so moved that I
knew I had found the right friends.
"I would have loved to have the whole Adventurers'
Club participate if possible, but since the open call has already been closed,
there's really no way around it. As a representative of the Adventurers' Club,
I wanted Senpai to win at all costs. For now, let's start with a summary of the
rules of the competition."
〜Basic rules〜
・There will be a total
of 100 players. All of them are three-star adventurers. Only girl cards may be
used.
・Players must conquer
a total of three D-rank dungeons, and compete for the total time.
・Players will receive
10 stars at the start and another star at the finish line according to the
order of placement.
・The first place gets
500 stars, the second gets 300 stars, and the third gets 200 stars.
・If a player
encounters another player on the way to the finish line, he or she will compete
against the other player by betting on these 'stars'. Players who lose all
their stars will be disqualified.
・Stars can be
exchanged for prize cards or money after the competition. The first stars
distributed are a substitute for the performance fee, but the stars of players
who fail to reach the goal cannot be redeemed for cash.
・The order in which the
prizes are awarded will be based on the order of arrival to the finish line. In
case of a tie, the one with the most stars will be awarded first.
・The time limit is one
week. In the unlikely event that no one finishes the race, the stars owned at
that point will be redeemed for cash.
・No actions which
destroy the safe zone (no fighting near the safe zone). Besides being
criminally punishable, the program will be forced to cancel the event, and we
will demand compensation for the damages. In addition, theft, assault, and
anything else that offends the law or public order and morals is prohibited in
general. After an immediate disqualification, the case will be reported.
・Any and all damages
incurred during the race are the sole responsibility of the player, and the
program will not compensate for such damages. However, in the event of an
emergency, the program will be responsible for any rescue calls and will not
charge fees for rescue or medical treatment.
・In the event that an
Irregular Encounter is confirmed, the race will be suspended and the players
will remain on the spot until an announcement is made (evacuation to the
nearest safe zone will be permitted). The professional adventurers of the
program will be responsible for defeating the Irregular Encounters and rescuing
the players, but if the professionals are deemed to have failed to do so, the
race will be called off at that point.
・In the event that the
race is called off due to unavoidable circumstances, a compensation of
1,000,000 yen will be paid for each star earned up to that point in time. In
addition, 100 stars shall be granted separately to the three players who have
completed the most floors.
〜Supplementary Rules〜
・The use of magic
items during the race is basically unrestricted. However, magic items of
summoning are not allowed.
・The route to the
finish line is not the shortest, but rather a route that requires finding and
passing through checkpoints along the way. Without passing through the
checkpoint, the player should not move on to the next floor. At the
checkpoints, there are also checks for dishonesty using the skill of detecting
falsehoods.
・The checkpoints are
hidden by magic items, but there are hints scattered throughout the floors, so
players must look for them first.
・Each player will be
given a drone to take pictures and prevent cheating. If a player destroys
his/her drone or that of an opponent, he/she will be disqualified at once. If
the drone is accidentally damaged, a new drone must be acquired at the nearest
checkpoint as soon as possible.
・Of the three
dungeons, two can be completed in any order, but the other one must be
completed last. The dungeons are the Midday Ocean and the Underground dungeon,
respectively. The last dungeon will be announced after the two are completed.
・If a player encounters
another player - even momentarily within a 10-meter radius of each other - they
have three minutes to choose 'fight or flight' and send it to the management.
Those who did not make a choice will automatically be considered to have chosen
to flee.
・If the player chooses
to fight, he or she will declare at the same time how many stars he or she is
willing to bet. The player who bets one or more stars may play up to four cards
on the field. The one with the lesser number is limited to three cards. In case
of a tie, both players are allowed three cards. The loser gives the betting
star and must remain on that floor for one hour. If the number of bets is
small, there is less demerit in case of losing, but they are at a disadvantage
in the fight.
・If a player chooses
to flee, he or she can avoid the battle by handing over one star. However, the
party who chooses to flee must stay on the same level for one hour.
・If both parties
choose to flee, or if both parties are more than 50 meters away from each
other, the battle itself is avoided. The same opponent will not make contact
decisions for 10 minutes.
・If the players
mutually choose to fight, but no combat occurs because they move through the
floor, flee to a safe zone or checkpoint, or take a large distance from each
other, the player who is judged to have fled is considered to have lost.
∙ No direct harm is
allowed to be done to players or cards except during the battle. It is also
prohibited to physically block the pathway or do any other obstructive
behavior.
∙ Contact with other
players will not be considered during the first hour of the race and at the
safety zones and checkpoints on each floor.
∙ Stars can be
replenished for 2 million yen per star or a D-rank card. Stars can be purchased
at the starting point and each checkpoint. However, the number of stars that
can be replenished in this way is limited to 10 (if the number of stars owned
is more than 10, replenishment is not possible).
〜Special rules〜
∙ Special missions
will be issued from time to time by the program.
∙ Depending on the
outcome of the mission, professional adventurers may be released as
hunters.....
〜About the rules of
battle〜
∙ Only the ten cards
registered in the deck may be used in battle. If all cards are Lost, the player
will retire.
∙ The winner and
loser will be determined by declaration of surrender, or the player who
receives a direct attack as a master first, or the player whose summoned cards
are completely wiped out. The player whose deck has less than three cards is
eliminated from the race.
∙ Ten defensive magic
items for the protection of adventurers will be distributed at the beginning of
the race and will be replenished at checkpoints. In the unlikely event that the
magic items are used up, battle is forbidden. Players must immediately return
to the previous checkpoint to replenish their defensive magic item. If they
encounter another player, they must announce that they have used up their
defensive magic items and give the other player a star to avoid the battle.
Once a star has been given to an opponent, there is no need to hand over
another until the next time the defensive magic item is replenished.
∙ When encountering a
battle between two players, you must not interfere with the battle. Nor may
they engage in a match with a defeated player after waiting in line.
∙ In case of
cheating, all stars will be confiscated and the player will be disqualified.
... The succubus with
[Zero existence] skill can be exchanged for 150 stars. So, I would like to be
in the top three at least, but since the priority for the exchange is in the
order of arrival, I needed to win to ensure that I could get it.
"I see...... it seems that they have made some holes
in the rules intentionally, but basically there doesn't seem to be any
problem."
Anna said after
reading the rules.
"Holes?"
"There are many holes, but the most obvious one is
that they don't prohibit adventurers from forming a clique to fight in a series
of battles, and adventurers who lose their defensive magic items must
unconditionally hand over their stars. There's a possibility that some teams
will launch a wave of battles to crush the potential winner."
As I tilted my head,
Oribe took the opportunity to speak up.
I see, you can't challenge the loser to battle for an
hour, but there is nothing that says you can't challenge the winner. ...... It
doesn't guarantee that someone won't bribe an opponent who has given up on
winning the race and turn them against their competitors.
My Teacher then said,
"Furthermore, it says that one may not interfere in
a battle, but it doesn't say that one may not attempt to challenge the monsters
in the dungeon to a battle. If you are attacked in the middle of a monster
battle, you have to pull back the excess cards. Moreover, monsters have a habit
of giving priority to the first player they engage in battle with. So it is to
their advantage to challenge a player who is in the middle of a battle with
monsters."
So if you're set up
while engaging a monster, it's two against one instead of a three-way battle.
Since victory or defeat depends only on a direct attack on the master and total
annihilation of the party, even if it is the monster that directly attacks you,
you would still lose the game.
If it's a monster on
the way, you can still take care of it before the time limit of choosing how to
confront another player, but the problem is when you're in a battle with the
boss......
"Well, if you read deeply into it, you may find
other holes, but I'll let Senpai find them yourself through practice."
"Practice?"
When I turned my
head, Anna puffed out her chest confidently.
"Yes! We're
going to actually try a race within the Adventurers' Club, using a dungeon with
environments similar to those of the race. Senpai will take part just like in
the actual race, while the other members of the club will assume the role of
the other players."
I see, that sounds interesting.
"Let's start with the ocean dungeon! Today is the preparation period, and tomorrow we will
meet at the dungeon of our choice! Then,
we are dismissed!"
And so we were off to
a mock race training camp for adventurers only.
