[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 276

Chapter 276

The Royal Capital After a Long Time

Translator : PolterGlast

During the week until the summons came, we devoted ourselves to interpersonal combat training without taking on any requests. Until now, I had been conducting mock battles with Ginia and Aoi as a swordsman, but during this week, I conducted mock battles by acting out various types of combatants. Dagger users and dual-wielders, of course, but also sword dancers with irregular movements, and a martial artist style fighting at ultra-close range. In addition, we also had mock battles with long-range attack styles such as archers, mages, and priests.

It felt like they were constantly forced to struggle against me as my style changed with every battle, but I believe there is meaning in the experience they gained. Truthfully, I wanted to help them get into the habit of winning as well, but in just one week, we couldn't reach that point. That being said, I think they were able to grow significantly during this interpersonal combat strengthening week.

And then――a letter of summons arrived for the Guild Master, and we came to the Royal Capital with the Guild Master for the first time in a long while.

Hey, Graham! I can finally see the Royal Capital!

True. As expected, it takes time by carriage.

Because your legs are faster, Graham-san. ...A carriage is more comfortable, though, so I prefer traveling by carriage.

Me too! Traveling while being carried by Graham is way too fast, yet it has no stability!

They're saying terrible things about it, but for me personally, there are no disadvantages other than getting tired. While letting the two's words slide, I fully enjoyed the cityscape of the Royal Capital for the first time in a while.

Just like last time, we're heading to the Adventurer's Guild first, is that alright? I'm sure the guild has booked an inn for us, so I want to get the greetings out of the way first.

Of course it's alright. It's been a while since I've seen Saris too, so I'm looking forward to it.

That's right! We get to see Saris-san! I wonder if he's doing well?

I want to show him how much we've grown. We couldn't show him any good sides of us last time, after all.

I don't think that's true. It's true that Graham-san stood out way too much, but he was praising you and Aoi as well, Ginia.

When we subjugated the monsters closing in on the Royal Capital, Ginia and Aoi had also played an active role. Just as the Guild Master said, Saris should definitely evaluate the two of them highly as well. While thinking such things, we arrived straight at the Adventurer's Guild.

Biodasdal's Adventurer's Guild is also splendid, but as expected, the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild is on another level. Partly because it was my first time seeing it in a while, I couldn't help but be impressed by its size even though it was my second time.

I am Dwayne, the Guild Master of the Biodasdal Adventurer's Guild. I came after receiving a summons; is the Guild Master here?

Dwayne-sama, correct. He is in the Guild Master's office on the third floor, so I will guide you there.

Saying so, the cute receptionist guided us to the Guild Master's office. Then, after knocking, we entered the room where Saris was waiting.

I wondered who it was, and it's Graham. And Ginia and Aoi... Dwayne, it's been a while for you too.

Hey. Why was I, the one who was summoned, addressed last?

Don't sweat the small details. I can tell at a glance that Ginia and Aoi have grown stronger. As for Graham... I really can't tell.

Saris-san, it's been a while! You remembered our names, didn't you!

Thank you for remembering the names of mere adventurers.

You guys are by no means mere adventurers. We even had you save the Royal Capital, after all.

We didn't do anything. It's just that Graham-san is amazing.

Right, right! Graham also beat everyone in the mock battle tournament all by himself!

In response to Saris expressing his gratitude, Ginia and Aoi made remarks that lifted me up. Since he could even tell that they had grown stronger, I think he truly remembered them properly, though.

When I asked the Guild Master, his reaction was vague, but do you plan to hold a mock battle tournament this time as well?

That is the plan. I'm just worried about everyone being defeated by Graham alone again, though.

I'd appreciate it if it's held. Also, it's planned that not just me, but Ginia and Aoi will be the main ones fighting this time.

So you've been training them after all. They both looked like they've gotten stronger, so it's no surprise. I'll look forward to seeing them in action.

Saying that with a laugh, Saris stood up from his chair and came over in front of us. I hadn't noticed while he was sitting, but I could see a large scar that wasn't there last time on his right arm.

Saris-san. What happened with that scar on your right arm?

A strong monster appeared a little while ago. I was drafted to help at that time, but partly due to being out of practice, I pathetically ended up getting injured.

It's a bite wound, right? Did a monster that strong appear?

No, they weren't monsters that were all that strong. It was a pack of Venom Panthers, and I was just overwhelmed by their sheer numbers. I truly messed up because of my rustiness.

Judging from how he was hiding the scar in embarrassment, it seems he truly was defeated by Venom Panthers. It's not certain information, but the subjugation of Venom Panthers should be an A-Rank request. I think things change when it's a pack, but I was honestly surprised that Saris sustained an injury.

You don't look like you're out of practice to me, but were their numbers really that great?

Fufu, I started retraining from scratch after getting injured. I may not reach my prime, but I have the confidence to fight even an S-Rank adventurer one-on-one.

Considerable confidence could be seen from the fearlessly smiling Saris. It's probably true that he retrained himself, and I'd like to try sparring with him if there's an opportunity.

[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 275

Chapter 275

Talk of a Summons

Translator : PolterGlast

About a month has passed since the day I woke up after losing consciousness due to the effects of naming. During this past month, I've been dealing with various visitors. Not only did [Crimson Rose] and [Battenberg] come to visit, but Spencer and Usman from the Wishul Kingdom came as well. Well, Spencer's objective seemed to be the Guild Master, so I only exchanged a few words with him, but I gave Usman various technical instructions. He brought a lot of souvenirs, and happily accepted the simple instructions, after all. He even started saying he would bring his army along next time so that everyone in the army could receive instruction, but as expected, I politely declined.

We were able to build a good relationship with the Wishul Kingdom, which was initially in a precarious state, and partly because I received a reward from Spencer, our funds becoming abundant is a big deal. After purchasing this house, our funds were nearly exhausted for a time, but we've saved enough money to be able to purchase another house. That being said, our current living expenses are nothing to scoff at, and we can't waste money. Gree has become an adventurer and is beginning to become independent, but since there are children we newly took in, I have no plans to purchase a new house until this one feels too cramped. In the worst-case scenario, there is also Bane's house on the Old Abandoned Road, so it's probably best to keep the money saved.

While we are living peacefully like that, what remains a concern is the movements of the Demon King's Army. Although I haven't received any urgent reports from either the Guild Master or Bane, I've heard that casualties have been occurring here and there in other cities. If these were large-scale attacks, I would rush to support them, but since they are small-scale, the current situation is that I can't make a move even if I wanted to. Partly because Bane has completely unified the vicinity of Biodasdal, damage related to the Demon King's Army is close to zero. He mentioned there had been contact, but it seems there hasn't even been contact since he refused them, after all.

As long as we are living in Biodasdal, it's the same peace as always, but the Guild Master mentioned that there is a strong perception within the kingdom that danger is approaching. Because of that, it seems the Guild Masters of the Five Great Cities will be summoned to the Royal Capital in the near future. It sounds similar to last time, and I hear that influential adventurers from each city will also gather. It seems the respective Guild Masters will select the participants for the other cities, but as for me, it appears I've been directly called upon by Saris. I hadn't seen Saris in a long time, and I don't dislike going to the Royal Capital, so of course, I gave my consent without a second thought. Right now, the situation is that I'm on standby until that summons comes.

I wonder if the summons will come soon~! I want to go to the Royal Capital for the first time in a while!

We have money now, after all. Last time, we were somewhat daunted by the size of the Royal Capital, but next time it looks like we'll be able to enjoy it from the bottom of our hearts.

Since I had already explained the circumstances to Aoi and Ginia, I could see they were looking forward to it. They've been staying at home taking care of the house a lot recently, and I think the fact that they can head to the Royal Capital completely in a vacation mood is also a big factor.

They said 'in the near future,' so I think we'll hear something within a week. Let's make sure to properly complete requests until then.

Requests are important too, but if we're gathering at the Royal Capital... won't there be mock battles too? If so, I want to polish my interpersonal combat skills!

Graham-san, haven't you heard about that from the Guild Master? If there are mock battles, I also want to polish my interpersonal combat skills. Last time I relied entirely on you, Graham-san, after all.

I haven't heard anything. It seemed like it was decided suddenly last time too, and I think the possibility of there being none is higher.

That being said, if a mock battle tournament is held, it seems Ginia and Aoi will say all sorts of things to me. It might be a good idea to confirm with the Guild Master, and unless he tells me it's absolutely not happening, it might be fine to tackle interpersonal combat.

Ehh! If there's a possibility, let's do it! I want to receive instruction from you, Graham!

...Understood. I'll try asking the Guild Master for now. Depending on his answer, let's decide how to spend our time going forward.

We have plenty of leeway regarding money, and Ginia and Aoi have been completing requests for me even when I was absent, after all. I should listen to a little bit of their selfishness, and I think there's no problem in making it an interpersonal combat strengthening week.

And so, I headed out to ask the Guild Master about it. I was expecting a 'yes' or 'no' response, but what returned was vague. It seems the Guild Master, like me, hasn't been told whether there will be mock battles or not. However, since adventurer parties from each city will be gathered this time as well, he said there is a possibility mock battles will be held to deepen interactions.

Well, with this response, the period until the summons comes is interpersonal combat strengthening week. I can also train Lia, Anne, Tracy, and the others, so let's give them rigorous technical instruction. While thinking of a training menu in my head, I made preparations for the interpersonal combat strengthening week starting tomorrow.

[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 274

Chapter 274

Flight Ability

Translator : PolterGlast

Partly because she sucked out my power, it seems she has acquired a number of convenient abilities. If she grows a little more, she should be able to enter the city by changing into her human form, and I feel she will be useful in various ways. If I could make one more wish, it would be for her body in her dragon state to grow larger. If she does, movement through the sky will become possible, after all.

You've achieved an evolution beyond what I imagined. I want to try riding on you, Blut, and right now I'm even thinking I want you to grow up quickly.

I want to try giving you a ride too, Master~!

Reverting to her human form, Blut said that while jumping up and down. I want her to learn properly under Bane, and in the future, I'd like to travel the world together.

Flight practice is essential, isn't it. There are various undead of all sizes, so let's practice properly carrying them until your body grows larger.

Yeah! I'll do my best for you, Master~!

As far as I'm concerned it's nothing but something to be grateful for, but the undead forced to keep her company seem like they'll have a hard time.

The majority of undead are resistant to physical damage, so they are optimal. She can practice without worrying.

It certainly makes them perfect for practice, huh. I suppose I'll leave that area to Bane's domain and take my leave soon.

If there aren't any particular problems, it'd be a help if you had her practice flying. If you find out anything else about Blut, let me know. Well then, I'll be returning to Biodasdal.

Understood. If anything happens, I will report it to you at any time.

Ehh~! You just woke up, but you're already going home, Master~?

There are people worrying about me, after all. I'll come visit again in the near future, so listen properly to what Bane says until then.

Yeah! You absolutely have to come visit, okay!

I raised my heavy hips, patted Blut's head, and then left Bane's house. Even so... my body is far too heavy. My physical condition is so bad it's hard to believe I slept for three days. It might partly be because I slept too much, but it's certain that the naming is affecting me. I have to get my physical strength back quickly.

While thinking such things about my overly heavy body, I returned to Biodasdal at the fastest speed I could manage. Because I have absolutely no memories of while I was sleeping, it feels unbelievable that three days have passed since I left Biodasdal. Well, there's no way Bane would lie, and I think the reactions of Ginia and the others I'm about to meet will make me truly realize the period of time I was asleep.

My stomach was also overly empty, but I returned home without taking any detours. When I rang the house bell, I could hear footsteps hurriedly approaching the entrance as usual.

Aah! It really is Graham-sama! We were worried about you!!

Graham-san, welcome back!! Is your body alright!?

My bad for making you worry. My body is somewhat heavy, but I don't have any particular injuries, so I'm fine.

While patting the heads of Lia and Anne, I apologized for making them worry. Together with those two, I entered the house and headed to where everyone was waiting in the living room.

You were safe, weren't you, Graham-san. When I heard the story from Bane-san, I really thought my heart was going to stop.

Because he came to tell us you suddenly collapsed! You hadn't returned for three days since then, and although we were told not to come, we were just about to go check on you! I told Lia and Anne too, but my bad for making you worry. Various unexpected things happened, and I just kept sleeping while fainted.

It's not an illness, right?

Yeah. My body itself is the very picture of health, so there's no need to worry.

Because being healthy is one of my few redeeming qualities, after all. I've never contracted a serious illness, and I was genuinely surprised that I ended up sleeping for three days this time.

Collapsing even though you're healthy is more worrying, though! At any rate, if you're safe, I guess it's fine!

Graham-san, will you eat? You somehow look like you've lost a little weight, so if there's anything you want to eat, I'll prepare it.

In that case, we will make it, so please tell us anything you'd like.

Leave it to us. We'll make anything.

Tricia and Maud, who had been quietly watching up until now, said that while puffing out their chests. I'm overly hungry, and there's a ton of things I want to eat, but...

Because I was in a situation where I couldn't eat meals, I'd like to ask for something that's easy to digest and mildly flavored. Honestly, there's a lot of things I want to eat, and since you're putting your spirit into it, I do have the feeling of wanting to eat something else, though.

You don't need to worry about it at all. We will make something easy to eat and good for digestion.

Leave it to me.

Hurrying to the kitchen, the two of them immediately began cooking. I don't know what they will make for me, but it's my first meal in a while. Moreover, I can't help but look forward to being able to eat Tricia and Maud's cooking.

Ah, Graham-san is smiling, which is rare!

It's true! Are you looking forward to Tricia and Maud's cooking~?

It's my first meal in a while, after all. ...It's embarrassing, so please don't point it out every single time.

Ahaha! Graham is embarrassed!

You shouldn't tease him that much.

I also look forward to our daily meals, and I don't think it's something to be embarrassed about.

Because it was unconscious, it was embarrassing to have my smile pointed out, but... If everyone who looked so worried is now acting happily, I suppose I'll contentedly accept this cute teasing.
