[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 163

Chapter 163

A Town Overflowing with Exotic Atmosphere

Translator : PolterGlast

After hitting the jackpot with that shop, we stayed one night in the stopover town, feeling fully satisfied. From there, we passed through one more stopover point before safely arriving at the city of Klingark.

"Oh, that seems to be Klingark."

"Whoa! The Royal Capital was amazing, but Klingark is amazing too! It feels like a city overflowing with an exotic atmosphere!"

"It really is. The foot traffic is incredible too; it's so lively you wouldn't think a plague is spreading."

Just as Aoi said, the cityscape was overflowing with an exotic feel. The Royal Capital felt like a high-spec version of Biodasdal, but Klingark felt like a city of a completely different style.

"The lanterns are pretty! I can see things like food stalls too!"

"It seems there are many cities like this on the eastern side of the continent. I heard Klingark is a city livened up by immigrants from that country."

"Heh. You're knowledgeable, Ginia."

"I researched Klingark before we left. I heard there are many unique dishes too."

"If it's good, I want to eat it! But, I'm scared of the plague so I might not want to go into crowds!"

"True. Once we go to the Adventurer's Guild and get information, I want to get away from the center of Klingark."

"It's a shame, but if we get sick and can't move before heading to the subjugation, it would defeat the purpose."

It was a rare kind of city that made me excited even before entering, and I did have a desire to tour it slowly... but we didn't have the leeway for that. We should defeat the Dragon Zombie first; sightseeing would have to come after.

So, after completing the entry inspection, we kept our sightseeing to a mere glance and headed straight for the Adventurer's Guild. The Guild was located in the center of the city, and judging by the large building, one could tell it held authority just like in the Royal Capital.

"Huge building! Biodasdal should make theirs this big too!"

"Impossible. The city itself is decent-sized, but the vicinity of Biodasdal is too peaceful. The value of adventurers isn't very high there."

"That feels like it's Graham's fault, though! You defeated all the dangerous monsters by yourself!"

"When you think about it, it's a difficult problem. Peace is definitely better, but danger raises the value of the Guild and adventurers. Since Graham-san nips danger in the bud beforehand, getting no evaluation for it feels a bit unreasonable."

"I didn't kill monsters to get evaluated, so I honestly don't really care. ... But still, there are probably plenty of adventurers who wouldn't be satisfied with that. That might be why adventurers don't gather in Biodasdal."

In a peaceful city, adventurer demand is low, and since there are no strong monsters, adventurers don't grow. The Guild Master often laments this, but this is something I can't do anything about no matter how much I think on it.

"Why don't you ask Bane to stage a performance to make the city feel a sense of crisis? Bane is like your minion, Graham, and while it wouldn't actually be dangerous, demand for adventurers would rise! I think it's a good plan!"

"Absolutely not. That would force Bane into too much of a villainous role, and living with anxiety is mentally exhausting for people. If it's peaceful, then peace is fine. A world where adventurers aren't actually needed is the correct one."

"Ehh! I thought it was a good idea..."

Rejecting Aoi's stupid plan immediately, we entered the Adventurer's Guild. Not only was the exterior impressive, but the interior was also well-built... however, the adventurers themselves were the same as everywhere else; many looked like bad-mannered thugs.

Ignoring the adventurers who glared at us just for passing by, I decided to make an appointment with the Guild Master at the reception. Surprisingly, the receptionist let us through easily, and we were guided to the Guild Master's office.

"This Guild Master's office is in an amazing location too."

"The former Guild Master was Guanza, so there's a possibility he had it custom-made. The room feels weird and awfully new."

"Ugh! Definitely! He was a vain piece of trash, after all!"

"Come to think of it, has Guanza returned to Klingark? If he has, do we have to meet him?"

"If we can hear the story from the Guild Master, I don't think we need to meet him... but if we can't, we'll probably have to hear the details from Guanza."

"Ugh, I don't want to meet him!"

Aoi stuck out her tongue and made a blatantly disgusted face. Even if he had turned over a new leaf, she hadn't forgiven him yet.

"Excuse me. I have brought the guests."

"Thank you. You may return, Nick-san."

"Yes. Excuse me."

The Guild Master was a surprisingly soft-spoken person. He looked like a gentle, mild-mannered man—a male in his thirties with glasses and narrow eyes that seemed to be always smiling.

However, his body was quite well-trained, and the arms and hands visible from his sleeves were covered in scars. Like Dwayne and Salis, he seemed to be a combat-oriented Guild Master who had risen from the ranks of adventurers.
