Chapter 44
LV 4
Translator : PolterGlast
After working hard to
subjugate Null Zombies for a while.
I couldn't hide my
smile at how malicious this floor was.
Thanks to the railgun
and [Home], I've been able to level up more smoothly than I could have
imagined.
As always, the compatibility
between the [Knight's Holy Remains] and me was excellent.
I can't help but
suspect that it was made so that I could level up without worries.
But for me, the eighth
floor is a spot for leveling up, and it boasts a difficulty that would put the
pride of adventurers who have struggled to get this far into disbelief.
Those who have trained
their magic to a high LV will have a hard time because their magic doesn't
work.
Similarly, those who
have trained their physical LV or body-enhancing skills will be attacked by the
sheer number of Null Zombies and their immortality, and will be devoured by
them.
Null Zombies, like
cockroaches, keep popping up no matter how many you kill.
Amazingly, once a Null
Zombie crawled out of a grave, a second one would crawl out from the same spot.
It's a literal
infinite spawn. It's helpful in terms of experience points.
In order to conquer
this floor, you have no choice but to acquire combat ability that allows you to
instantly kill the Null Zombies that appear, or to keep running away by
specializing in speed and escape to the ninth floor, or to use auxiliary magic
such as Wind Search and Shadow Dive to avoid combat as much as possible.
By the way, it seems
that Varrietta-san and his companions hunted as fast as they could the moment
the Null Zombies appeared and moved on without letting them use their roars.
Huh, me?
I'm the fourth option.
First, I wait for the
first Null Zombie that appears to call out its friends, and then I defeat the
Null Zombies that pop up one by one with a railgun.
And when the Null
Zombies increase to the point where I can't defeat them all, I go back home.
If you do this, you
won't be defeated, and you can hunt Null Zombies as long as your magic power or
concentration lasts.
For some reason, after
half a day, the Null Zombies that were there in such large numbers have
disappeared.
All the holes that
should have been empty have been completely filled. A dungeon is such a
mysterious place.
I used the lightning
magic Electro, which generated electromagnetic energy, to put the iron products
I used in the railgun back into the item box, and then started walking around
and hunting Null Zombies.
This is my routine
these days.
By the way, my
skeletons' armors have already been completely torn to shreds due to the
relentless pounding I've been putting on Null Zombies' bodies.
Or rather, the
corroded parts are peeling off and new parts are corroding again, and recently
it has gone beyond worn out and is starting to give off some kind of black aura.
I'm using it while
being scared, thinking, "This doesn't have the grudge of a Null Zombie or
something, does it...?"
Corrosion stopped
after it started emitting a black aura, so for the time being, the wear and
tear seems to be suppressed to a certain extent.
Since I've only been
hunting Null Zombies for the past ten days or so, my nose is completely broken.
Recently, my appetite
has been reduced due to the stench that penetrates even when I stuff tissue in
my nose, and I've been managing to eat by using strong spices such as garlic
and chili peppers at home.
"Is it time to go
to the next floor...?"
I suddenly thought of
this while relaxing at home.
Even though I can hold
infinite Null Zombie sessions, it's getting harder to level up.
It's a great hunting
ground so I can still level up, but it's becoming much less efficient.
Besides, I want to say
goodbye to this smelly floor.
So I decided to head
to the ninth floor for now.
After taking a good
rest, I decide to check my status, which I do regularly.

Good, all the stats
are rising evenly.
With this much, I
should be able to handle the monsters on the ninth floor.
Mana recovery has also
risen to 9, and now it recovers 18 MP in 10 minutes.
Thanks to that, I can
use magic almost without running out of breath... wait, huh?
"...Nn!?"
A strange sound came
out from the back of my throat.
When I looked
closely--the LV of [Home] had risen to 4!
I was thinking of
going to the ninth floor, but plans have changed.
First, I have to
verify the new power of [Home]!
