Chapter 48
Henceforth

"Iyaaaaaaaaaaa!!"
The Sorcery Wraith
swayed, making a high-pitched scream-like sound.
The movement of once
to the right and once to the left is the preliminary movement for that monster
to release magic.
What flew towards me
was a giant fireball.
The size is about 3
meters in diameter.
It's about two sizes
larger than the normal Fireball.
I use the agility that
has increased tremendously by raising my LV to avoid the opponent's attack.
When the fireball
lands on the ground, it scatters flames around it.
It is similar to the
Blast Fireball, a fire magic learned at lvl 6, but its range is much wider.
I thought I had
sufficiently dodged the fireball, but it flew right at me.
"Whoa!"
I took an even bigger
backstep to keep my distance and looked at the spot where the attack landed.
The power of the
fireball itself seems to be high, and the ground is being pushed hard as if it
had been stepped on, and the scorch marks extend beyond the range of the
impact.
Is it closer to an AoE
attack than a single attack?
Like Chain Lightning
in my magic.
(I see... if this
attack had rained down on the group of knights who were in a group, it would
have been tough)
It would have been
tough no matter how durable they were if they were constantly bombarded with
such magic.
However, although the
power is high, the speed is not that fast.
It's only slightly
slower than the movement speed of the Grim Reaper and Null Zombies themselves.
This would be no
problem, and could be avoided even after seeing them.
"It's my
turn--Judgment Ray!"
As long as the
opponent's HP is unknown, the first blow should be with all my might.
I released the
Judgment Ray, which I had finished preparing to activate while avoiding the
magic.
The LV 10 magic, which
initially took nearly 10 seconds to activate, has now been shortened to about 5
seconds, which was my initial goal.
By the way, my current
new goal is to be able to release magic firmly in about 3 seconds even while
fighting.
"Ooooo..."
The Sorcery Wraith,
which was hit by the pillar of purification light, disappeared from the spot
without a trace after making a small sound at the end.
Apparently, with
Judgment Ray, you can kill with one blow without any problems.
But it's stingy that
it can release AoE magic but doesn't leave anything behind.
Unlike Null Zombies,
there is no experience gain.
When I open the
status, my LV has increased by 1 for the time being.
Apparently, the zombie
attack with Null Zombies was too effective, and the LV increase was slower than
before.
This floor itself is
not very rewarding.
I'll proceed while
practicing fighting, and after I stick around for a while, I'll head to the
tenth floor as it is.
...I was thinking like
that, but I decided to change my mind on the way.
I can't afford to
waste time.
So, in addition to
just practicing fighting, I decided to find a way to solve the long-standing
concerns myself.
The Sorcery Wraith,
which moves fast and uses magic, was the perfect opponent for that.
That concern is--how
to deal with the situation where I can't defeat the opponent even if I use the
LV 10 magic, which is the strongest blow I can unleash.
If I can't defeat the
opponent with one blow from Judgment Ray and Gungnir, I'll be in a pretty tight
spot.
To be honest, I don't
want to assume it, but it's not impossible that enemies that can't be defeated
unless they got hit by Judgment Ray many times will appear in the future.
Whether the first blow
is repelled or withstood, what awaits beyond that is a long battle.
I have to buy time to
release powerful magic again against an opponent with considerable ability.
During the search, it
would normally be easier to fire high LV magic in rapid succession, but the
reason why I actively use Chain Lightning and Lightning without doing so is
actually to anticipate this.
I decided to learn how
to buy time to release a trump card while using fast-casting magic against the
Sorcery Wraith.
"Lightning!"
"Oooh!?"
A blow of lightning
strikes the Sorcery Wraith strongly.
The Lightning released
in a zigzag trajectory hits, but even though the magic attack power is high, it
cannot be defeated with one blow.
The opponent is
clearly a magic type, so I guess the magic resistance is high.
"Lightning!
Lightning! Lightning!"
Lightning magic has
the effect of giving status abnormalities of stun and paralysis with
probability.
Therefore, if you fire
many shots in a row, you can stop the opponent's movement with a considerable
probability of two arrows of damage and status abnormality.
I do this to buy time.
I count the time while
moving back, assuming that the opponent can close the distance.
Three, four... five!
"Gungnir!"
The lightning spear I
released reached in an instant, scorching the Sorcery Wraith's body and
continuing to advance further.
Okay, if it's a single
opponent, it's easy to buy time.
The problem is when
I'm attacked by more than one.
It's quite difficult
if they attack from outside the Chain Lightning's area of effect at the same
time.
For the time being, I
dared to collide with as many Sorcery Wraiths as possible and repeatedly
practiced buying time using lightning magic.
In the middle of the
practice, the group's maximum of four was not enough, so I dared to make a
sound and took on eight in total, four each in front and behind.
Thanks to the good
compatibility between me, who is a long-distance type, and the Sorcery Wraith,
I can handle it without any problems even if I do it in a fairly unreasonable
way.
What I felt there was
my own lack of pure moves.
Many times I found
myself wishing that while I was using magic to buy time, I could also be
preparing to launch a high LV magic at the same time.
Considering the
future, I might try to work on it--dual activation of magic.
