[WN] Emperor's Seventh Son : 9 - 10 Part 3

9-10 Part 3

Steal the Boss's Head and the Treasure: The Shovel-Wielding Punisher

- The Truth Depicted in the Secret Ledger -

Translator : PolterGlast

Now then... I've received the secret ledger too. Next is your turn.

There is no ground here. Killing people with a shovel is troublesome. So I turned the muzzle of the gun that he just shot into me at the boss of [Wind of Yesterday].

Ha, hahahaha... Revenge, is it. What a pointless thing to do...

No, I don't particularly hold a grudge against you. Nor was I asked by anyone. This is my personal will.

Are you a madman, you bastard... Even if you kill me, nothing will change...! The head will just be swapped; [Wind of Yesterday] won't disappear! Too bad, you hypocrite!

Yeah, then it would be annoying if you died triumphantly, so I'll tell you. I took all the money in the treasury.

Ha...? A-... all, my, money... you stole, you say...

That's right. After you die, a massacre over the missing money will likely begin. Oops, it would be bad if this was heard.

I just bashed the remaining guard with the Shovel. Shooting him dead with the gun, finally, I aimed at Ansef's heart and pressed it against him.

Don't screw with me, you aberration!! Nothing will change, nothing will change! As long as there is demand, kidnappers won't disappea—

Bang, slaughtering the core of evil, I disappeared into the underground world before pursuers could catch on. ...Ah, I'm tired as expected. Even if it was evil deserving of death, it takes a bit of a mental toll.

After a while, I remembered I hadn't lit the lantern. First, let's leave this place. With the lit lantern in one hand, I proceeded through the dark tunnel.

On the way, I stopped by the underground cavity where I buried the treasure. Precious metals and gems. All were chunks of Crowns that were hard to trace. But thinking that the lives of beastmen were torn apart for things like this, I didn't feel like touching them at all.

While vaguely gazing at the hollow wealth, I just realized that my robe was covered in blood spatters. Next, remembering I was holding the secret ledger, I decided to flip through the pages roughly relying on the lantern's light.

A chill ran down my spine. Several names of powerful people were listed. Nobles and big merchants with wives and children, names of those who looked kind and didn't seem like villains were there too.

Nn, Gnose Urgos... it says. This is, no way...

I realized there was a name that shouldn't be there. Is this what he meant when he said I'd regret it back then?

Fenleet Gnose Urgos. White Wolf Yatsufusa Shuria, 130,000 Crowns...

That is the Crown Prince's name. The one who bought Yatsufusa—no, Yashu—was my older brother, the Crown Prince Fenleet of this country. Speaking of 130,000 Crowns, that's enough to buy 65,000 of Auntie's Kebab Sandwiches.

To think he had fallen this far... For someone who is the Crown Prince of a nation to be this foolish...

I felt intense disgust. At the same time, I didn't know how to handle the secret ledger. Depending on how you think about it, there's a possibility this could even become an accelerant for civil war.

A scandal of the one who should succeed the Emperor. There were mountains of guys who would jump on the board. Julius-aniue, the second son and 2nd in line to the throne; Uncle Morak, who still believes he was suitable for Emperor; and the schemer Aunt De Neil were also suspicious.

About now, Yashu must be in the carriage...

If it's Sigrun, she won't fail. I could believe she definitely succeeded. It became a bloody ending with no reward or praise, but I am satisfied.

The Crown Prince is trash; you knew that from the start. More importantly, open the book; it is glowing.

Sorry, hearing your voice got the blood circulating in my head again.

I suppose I can't call you a musclehead anymore, kukuku...

Come to think of it, there was such a quest. I see, is this what they call a lucky benefit without making any effort? Did this already agile body gain double the speed?

With this, even if pursued by the Crown Prince, I might be able to escape without a horse. It means my probability of survival has increased somewhat.

To be worried about by you... It's fine, I won't hesitate. They were evil that deserved to be defeated.

What will you do with the money?

Zirant's words floated up on the Book of the Evil Dragon. Conversing with her like this seems to turn hesitation into decision.

Leave it as is, throw it away here. If I release such dirty money into the world, who knows what it will cause. Above all... money disappeared from the organization. This fact has higher value than the treasure here.

Umu, then do so. Gems and gold were originally in the depths of the earth. Even if it vanishes from this world, it has merely returned to the realm where it truly belongs.

Well, that's how it is. I covered the treasure in front of me with soil and buried it in a world unseen by anyone's eyes. Someday someone might discover this treasure.

By then, the curse placed on the treasure will likely be lifted. Due to things like this, families were separated, and a person's life turned into slavery.

I defeated an evil organization. Let's think simply like that.

I feel it is overly simple, though. But you are not wrong. You defeated an evil organization. Well done, my Apostle Ashley.

Treating me completely like an Apostle. What a calculating dragon.

I buried everything. Leaving the underground world where the cursed gold sleeps, since I can't return to the palace in the middle of the night, I ended up imposing on that tavern-inn again.

Yo Shinza, did you get kicked out of the woman's house or something...?

Don't be ridiculous.. More importantly, has Sigrun returned?

Ah... about that, seems you got dumped. Here...

Returning to the tavern-inn, the foul-mouthed innkeeper handed me a letter on rough paper. Inside, along with Sigrun's signature, was this:

I'm going south. Let's have a drink when I return, it's a promise.

Saying it one-sidedly in a letter isn't a promise. Putting it in my pocket, I looked at the drunken innkeeper.

She says she's going south.

That's good, peace for a while. Ah, almost forgot, this is a treat from Sis.

A small amount of fire liquor was poured into a ceramic cup and placed on the counter. I really don't understand her style... I downed it in one gulp while standing and returned the cup to the innkeeper.

Yes, good work. A room is open; you're staying, right?

Please.

If Sigrun is with her, Yashu will be safe. Imagining Sigrun rampaging restlessly in the wagon and Yashu being bewildered, I fell asleep in the tavern-inn's bed.

Sigrun is a kite with a cut string. She will stir up storms herself and turn the journey south into a great adventure. Honestly speaking, it's a shame I can't join them...

Protect the Beastman and Eliminate the Cause Completed

  • Reward: Direction Sense Lv 1 (Acquired)
  • You will no longer mistake directions. Grasp north, south, east, and west with your skin at any time, and you shall connect your underground tunnels to the destination.

[WN] A Hero From a Remote Village : Chapter 190

Chapter 190

Souvenirs

Translator : PolterGlast

Translator’s note: I changed Ria to Lia.

In order to return even a little faster, I intended to pick up the pace compared to the trip there, but I arrived in Biodasdal three days after leaving Furo Village, the exact same as the trip there. Considering that the travel time remained the same even when I felt like I was flying, I realized that the number of days it takes on foot couldn't be shortened any further.

At any rate, I was relieved that I was able to return safely to Biodasdal. I had taken it a bit too easy in Furo Village, and I wanted to go show my face as soon as possible.

Catching sight of food stalls selling goods for the first time in a while, my eyes naturally wandered, but I headed straight for my house. Given the time of day, Ginia and Aoi might be out on requests, but Lia and Gree should be there.

Thinking about this, I opened the door to the house... And for some reason, Lia was standing right in the entryway.

"Graham-sama! Graham-sama has finally come back!"

"Whoa there. It's dangerous, so don't jump at me so suddenly."

It was a welcome as if she knew I was returning. I caught Lia, who had launched herself at me like a bullet, gently set her down, and patted her head.

"I'm glad to see you're doing well, Lia. Did you know I was coming back?"

"Yeah! I sensed your presence, Graham-sama!"

"No, no! Lia was just waiting in the entryway almost every day!"

Denying Lia's words, it was Aoi who emerged from the back of the house. Ginia, Gree, and Anne were there too, and I felt somehow relieved by our reunion after so long.

"You waited for me every day, Lia? Thank you."

"Jeez! I was hiding it because it's embarrassing, but you blew my cover, Aoi-chan!"

"What's wrong with being found out! You're happy too, right, Graham?"

"Well, yeah. I'm glad not just Lia, but everyone else is doing well too."

"I'm relieved to see you looking well too, Graham-san. Was your home village alright?"

"Yeah. Everyone was doing fine, and if anything, it had even become peaceful."

"I'm glad to hear that! There were a lot of movements, so I thought things might have gotten terrible in your hometown, Graham!"

I would have to share the various pieces of information I extracted from Cougar with the two of them later. I couldn't talk about it now with Lia, Anne, and Gree present, though.

"Sorry for making you worry. It might not be much of an apology, but I brought back materials from the monsters I defeated as souvenirs."

"I want to see, I want to see! The monsters near your hometown are super strong, after all!"

"I'm curious as well!"

"Graham-sama! Lia wants to see too!"

Considering they were parts of monster corpses, I didn't really want to show them to Lia and Anne, but since they were cleanly harvested, I suppose it's fine. However, I wanted to wash my body before showing the souvenirs.

"Of course I'll show you, but let me take a shower first. I've only been able to bathe in rivers, so my body feels pretty gross."

"Ehh, you're going to keep us in suspense!? You can just show us first!"

"No. Aside from me feeling gross myself, I don't want to wander around this house with a dirty body."

Since it's already my own house, I wanted to keep it as clean as possible. With that said, I ignored the complaining Aoi and headed straight for the bath.

Taking a bath for the first time in a while refreshed both my body and mind. There are baths in Furo Village too, but they only have drum-can baths where you have to regulate the temperature yourself using magic.

Not only is it a hassle, but it also falls short in terms of relaxation, so a bath that automatically reaches the perfect temperature feels exceptionally good. Surprisingly, the biggest perk of coming to Biodasdal might have been the bath. Feeling this way in the large bath of this house, I returned to everyone waiting in the living room.

"So slooow! You finally came out!"

"It's been a while, so I ended up indulging myself. I was able to reaffirm that the bath in this house is the best."

"It's true that the bath in this house is wonderful. It's large and clean."

"Right? I didn't particularly prioritize the bath when deciding on this house, but now that I know what it's like, I don't feel like I can ever go back to just showers."

"Hey! Enough about your bath review, show us the souvenirs already!"

Just as I was starting a discussion about baths with Ginia, Aoi hurriedly came to stop it. I wanted to talk about the awesomeness of the bath a little longer, but since I'd kept them waiting, I decided to hand over the souvenirs right away.

"Alright, alright. Sorry for keeping you in suspense. These are the souvenirs I brought back this time."

Saying that, what I presented to everyone were the claws of the Thunder Scale and the fangs of the Coral Shisa. They ended up being similar parts, but when it comes to usable monster parts, it's either hard claws or fangs. Or perhaps fur, so they inevitably end up being similar.

"Graham-sama! These are pretty!"

"Woooow. Did you get all of these, Graham?"

What caught Lia and Gree's attention were the Thunder Scale's claws, which Nagi and Ran had defeated. They were still imbued with electricity, and the coloring was beautiful, so I understood perfectly well why they caught their eye.

"Those claws aren't from me, but from the residents of my home village."

"The monster that has these claws is definitely dangerous! Are there other capable people besides you, Graham!?"

"Yeah. Naturally, I'm the strongest, but I think everyone else is quite strong too."

"Did someone from the village defeat the monster with these fangs as well?"

"No, that's from a monster I defeated. I was attacked by a pack of the monsters possessing those fangs, and I harvested them when I wiped them all out at once."

"A pack of monsters with such vicious fangs!? Your hometown really is way too terrifying, Graham!"

The reaction was better than I expected, and everyone was looking at them with deep interest. I was unsure if they were appropriate to call souvenirs, but bringing back monster materials might have been a huge success in the end.
