Chapter 64
Multiple Subjugation
Translator : PolterGlast
The next day, I
decided to return to my days of battle.
I had achieved my
initial goal of defeating the Wind Bastard without using LV 10 magic.
However, this doesn't
mean I can go to the eleventh floor without any worries.
The monsters that
appear in the simulation room are different from the actual ones.
I realized this after
fighting them several times.
The monsters in the
simulation room are belligerent and attack me head-on.
Perhaps because they
can't perfectly trace the monsters, their action AI (is that the right term?)
is a bit crude.
However, their
strength is definitely real.
I continued my combat
training against the Elder Liches in the simulation room, where I literally
couldn't die even if I was killed.
In the process, I also
learned that my LV doesn't increase no matter how much I fight in the
simulation room.
It's just a
simulation, after all.
Well, even so, there's
no way I wouldn't use this room.
I decided to further
refine my knowledge of lightning magic, which is the key to my attacks.
Almost all of my
lightning magic is offensive magic.
Let's take a look at
each of them.
The LV 1 magic is
Lightning, which creates lightning.
Now that I can adjust
the output more delicately than before, I can freely emit it from anywhere on
my body, not just from my fingertips.
The LV 2 magic is Stun
Shock.
This has low attack
power, but it can stun the opponent with a certain probability.
Lightning magic has
stun and paralysis as default status ailments, but only stun has several times
the chance of inflicting it.
Let me explain each
status ailment here.
Stun is, in simple
terms, a status ailment that stuns the opponent and stops their movement for a
moment.
Among the status
ailments, the duration is short and it heals very quickly, but it can
completely stop the opponent's actions.
And paralysis, as the
name suggests, can numb the opponent and reduce their motor skills.
I don't know because I
haven't tried it on a living human yet, but I think paralysis is probably the
one I would hate to encounter in a fight against a person.
The LV 3 magic is
Lightning Bolt.
The LV 4 magic is
Chain Lightning.
The LV 5 magic is
Accelerate and Electro, which attracts iron with electromagnetic force.
I've used these so
many times that I can now use them unconsciously even during battle.
And the LV 10 magic is
Gungnir, which has the strongest penetration power among my current magic.
Of course, there are
also magics in between.
The LV 6 magic has two
types.
One is Lightning Shield,
which creates a lightning shield.
This has a counter
effect that adds a lightning attribute to the opponent's attack and repels it,
so it can be said to be a magic that combines defensive magic and offensive
magic.
However, when you have
Aegis of light magic, it's a bit tricky to use.
It would be strong if
I could use it perfectly when I want to counterattack the opponent, but it
takes time to use, so it's currently rotting.
And the other magic is
Radiation.
This is, in simple
terms, a magic that scatters lightning around me.
It's very useful when
I'm surrounded, and it can also be used as a defense and location confirmation
when the opponent can't be perceived or invisible.
Since there are gifts
and skills in this world, there should be one or two abilities that allow them
to approach me by slipping through my perception.
This magic will be
useful when facing such an opponent.
Well, the power isn't
that great, so I don't use it very often either.
The LV 7 magic is a
lightning magic sword (I haven't named it yet. I'm currently thinking of a cool
name like Sword of Extermination) and Railgun, which I've probably used the
most since coming to this world.
The LV 8 magic is
Stinger, which fires lightning needles the size of an index finger.
This also has
electromagnetic acceleration like Railgun and Gungnir, and thanks to the
original needle size being quite small, the speed is incredibly fast.
To further explain,
this magic has a high probability of inflicting both paralysis and stun status
ailments on the opponent.
However, the problem
is that both stun and paralysis are less effective against undead, and since
this magic is small in size, it cannot inflict significant damage even if it
hits the opponent.
I've tried it several
times against the Elder Lich, but it's quite difficult because if the opponent
moves even slightly, the aim will deviate from the core.
I'm not good at FPS
games myself.
Furthermore, it takes
as much time as Gungnir to use, so I haven't used it at all so far.
The LV 9 magic is Thor
Rain and Mjolnir.
The former is a magic
that can make lightning rain down on any location, and the latter is a magic
that summons a lightning hammer and crushes the opponent.
I wanted to master
these two, so I decided to use them repeatedly in the simulation with the Elder
Lich to check their usability.
The power of each
lightning strike in Thor Rain is higher than Lightning Bolt.
And the area that can
be selected is also much wider.
However, there is a
drawback that the magic is activated several seconds after specifying the
location.
It seems difficult to
use in a battle against an opponent with high mobility.
When facing the Wind
Elder Lich, it's avoided, but when facing other Elder Liches, it's a good way
to get into the attack range.
Mjolnir is similar.
When this magic is
activated, a hammer of lightning is created, which is then swung forward.
It has sufficient
power, but the problem is that the attack motion is visible to the opponent.
Also, it's not flexible.
(...Wait a minute, if
magic is about the image, then... can't I make this flexible?)
When I tried it,
thinking like that... I could do it.
As a result of trial
and error, I was able to release Mjolnir at any desired location.
Furthermore, I was
able to move the hammer freely to some extent, not just swing it forward.
I can now swing it
about three times, although it consumes MP, and I can also maintain Mjolnir to
some extent using MP.
This allows me to
prepare to activate Gungnir while keeping Mjolnir in standby mode, and then use
Mjolnir to buy time by hitting approaching opponents.
This has significantly
improved my personal combat capabilities.
By using Mjolnir and
another magic in dual activation, I now have a way to counter even when
approached.
I move Mjolnir with
one hand and use another magic with the other.
This will probably be
my basic tactic in the future.
I honestly feel it's a
shame that I haven't used it before because it's just not that easy to use.
After I was able to
win in the simulation room, I succeeded in defeating the Elder Lich on the
tenth-floor head-on.
I also succeeded in
defeating the Wind Bastard, who sometimes tried to whittle me down by running
away or using his mobility advantage.
This was the last
challenge I set for myself in order to reach the eleventh level.
The challenge was to
defeat multiple Elder Liches--.
