Chapter 80

"Holy
Enchantment"
The Knight of the Holy
Remains, who used some kind of magic or skill to spew white light from his
entire body, was blown away by my sword.
While looking at the
spurting blood, I thrust my sword out.
The color of the knight's
armor is still red.
No matter how much his
defense increases, it's still paper armor.
If his defense is low,
it's a bonus round.
But as expected of a
speed and attack type.
He uses his high-speed
mobility to catch me in the after-attack stiffness of my thrust and unleashes
an accurate counter.
But unfortunately, my
mobility is even higher.
"Jaunt"
The knight's sword
cuts through empty air.
And as if striking the
extended arm's muscle, my sword, which suddenly appeared next to him, thrust
into it.
I couldn't cut off his
arm, but I was able to break his armor.
Blood spurted out from
the arm inside, but perhaps because he had no pain, he used his wounded right
arm to counterattack.
I saw the sweeping
slash that didn't hesitate to involve his own body--
"Jaunt"
I used Jaunt again and
moved to the opposite side.
The diagonal slash I
unleashed with all my might hit its mark, striking the Knight of the Holy
Remains' body hard.
--Ultra-high mobility
combat using Jaunt, the teleportation magic.
That's my first trump
card.
When I pursued my own
sword style, I quickly reached my limit.
No matter how many
times I fought without using any buffs, my pure swordsmanship alone couldn't
even compare to the degraded version of the Knight of the Holy Remains.
What I came up with
after much thought was my own sword style, created by combining teleportation
with original swordsmanship.
Jaunt, the space-time
magic that enables teleportation, varies depending on the distance you jump.
The MP consumption
also increases in proportion to the distance... but conversely, if it's a very
short distance, you can teleport without consuming that much MP.
Dodge the opponent's
attack with teleportation, teleport to a position where your attack will hit,
and slam your sword down.
It takes some skill to
gain momentum or move out of the opponent's field of vision, but I've already
mastered that.
Since I became
proficient with this sword, I have not been defeated one-sidedly.
"Wave
Strike"
Anticipating the
moment my figure disappeared, the knight unleashed a ranged attack while
turning around.
If you know I'm moving
into your blind spot, you can deal with it that way... or so you'd think.
"Jaunt"
I used teleportation
again, reappearing at the spot where I launched the first attack a few seconds
ago.
While dodging the
opponent's ranged attack, I swung my sword down.
A counter aimed at a
blow from a blind spot... can be avoided with re-teleportation!
I run around freely,
repeatedly teleporting and swinging my sword.
The armor bursts, and
the blood that scatters from me and the blood that bursts from the knight mix
and bounce off each other.
The sparkle of the
sword and the brilliance of magic mix, and intense light envelop each other's
bodies.
Different lights
attack each other, weaving through each other's gaps, and the intersecting
shadows writhe strangely like a single living creature.
The sword becomes dull
as I swing it many times.
I replace it and cast
magic to eliminate any openings.
Apparently, the knight
can't use magic and his sword at the same time.
So if he tried to use
recovery magic, I'd hit him with a blow.
Combining sword
attacks and magic made it easy to prevent him from concentrating.
Of course, I'm not
completely unscathed either.
Some of the blows that
were unleashed the moment I took an attack were terrifyingly sharp, and I took
quite a few hits because I was late in moving with Jaunt.
I already have wounds
all over my body.
I'm treating the
really dangerous ones, but I'm losing too much blood, so I sometimes feel
dizzy.
What's more dangerous
is the rate at which my MP is decreasing.
I'm constantly casting
multiple buffs while swinging my sword and using magic, and when I can't do
anything with my swordsmanship alone, I use Jaunt to teleport and change my
stance.
It's no wonder that
even with mana recovery skills, it's just a drop in the bucket.
(This won't do...)
There's also the
accumulated fatigue from continuous magic use.
My head is already
duller than it was at the beginning.
No matter how
well-trained my body is, it won't last long.
The knight's wounds
are far more numerous and deeper than mine.
But even so, he
continued to cling to me and swing his sword.
By the way, the color
of his armor has returned to white.
But it seems he's the
same as me.
The Knight of the Holy
Remains unleashed a blow that seemed like an AoE attack, took some distance,
and then held his sword at eye level.
Because he took some
distance, I could see his figure.
His armor was now
shattered in various places, and there was no trace of its original beauty.
Despite being a
soulless Revenant, the fire burning in his eyes was not that of someone who had
given up on the fight.
I was going to
immediately cancel his recovery magic if he used it, but it didn't seem like that.
What I felt was an
explosive increase in mana.
Thanks to having over
3000 MP, I could feel the mana, unlike before.
Whether it's sword or
magic... he seems to be keeping up.
"Holy Magic
Chaos"
Black mana began to
cover the Knight of the Holy Remains' body, which was enveloped in a white
aura.
At first glance, it
seemed like a blindfold, but when I saw the mana increasing further, that
thought disappeared.
He was about to
unleash his strongest attack--feeling that, I immediately decided to play my
last card.
The remnants of mana
that couldn't be poured out spread through this space, trying to unleash a
powerful blow.
It accompanied sound,
pressure, and shock, diffusing and dissipating throughout the tomb.
"Shooo..."
Black and white, two
opposing mana mixed together.
When the haze cleared,
there was the figure of the knight, his right half skeleton and his left half
Revenant.
While looking at him,
who was lowering his posture slightly, closing his eyes, and concentrating, I
also prepared to activate my magic.
And... the knight's
left eye snapped open.
The Knight of the Holy
Remains jumped up.
The cross slash that
lingered in the air was clad in light and darkness, waiting for the moment of activation
with even a sense of pressure.
Responding to his
all-out attack, I also unleashed my strongest magic.
"Grand Cross
Chaos!"
"Eight Keys
Lightning!"
And our strongest
attacks collided--.
