[WN] Shut-In : Chapter 69

Chapter 69

Coffin

Translator : PolterGlast

The basic strategy for conquering the eleventh floor is the same as the tenth floor.

First, use the simulation room to thoroughly learn the opponent's tactics, then devise a way to win and achieve victory.

Interestingly, I can summon Revenants as a group or individually.

This made training much more efficient.

By summoning Revenant (Knight), I was able to steal their swordsmanship, and by summoning Revenant (Mage), I was able to see how well I could handle magic combat.

Thanks to that, I acquired various skills.

It would be quicker to show you than to explain each one.

The Revenants' experience points seem to be much higher than the Elder Liches', and by defeating them in groups, the pace of leveling up, which had been slowing down, started to pick up again.

Thanks to that, I finally broke through the 200 mark, and my skills increased rapidly (and thanks to taking a bath every day, I was able to raise my Water Magic LV to MAX).

Let's take a look at the skills I learned from the Revenants.

First, the swordsmanship-related skills: Swordsmanship, Dual Swordsmanship, and Drawing Technique.

The first two skills were acquired from the Revenant I encountered first, and the last one, Drawing Technique, was acquired from the Revenant (Samurai), who was dressed like a samurai at the gate where I defeated them (it's also labeled as Revenant (Samurai) in the simulation room).

I honestly don't know how to acquire skills.

I had been swinging my sword in my spare time, hoping to acquire swordsmanship, but it didn't work at all.

But when I closely observed the movements of the Knights, Samurai, and Light Warriors, and tried to swing my sword in the same way to steal their techniques, I acquired the skills without spending much time.

The power of a magic sword aimed at a vital point is comparable to LV 10 magic.

And since it's better to have a way to fight even when approached, I plan to continue developing these skills.

The first skill I acquired from fighting the Revenants was Mana Perception.

The same Mana Perception that Varietta-san had.

Thanks to this, I can now perceive the opponent's mana, although very roughly.

Due to the low LV, the accuracy is quite low.

I can only rate it in three levels: low, normal, and high (by the way, Elder Liches and Revenants are all rated as high, so it's not very useful at this point).

The perception ability is like that, but there were some by-products as well.

The biggest of these was that I was able to perceive the movement and transformation of mana more clearly than before.

This allowed me to track and imitate the way mana is used when my opponent is a monster that uses magic.

The skills I gained by continuing to practice like that are the last two, AoE casting and body enhancement.

--Since I came to this world, I've always thought.

Why is there Behoma but no Behomurā in this world? 1

1 Recovery spells that appear in the popular Japanese role-playing game series "Dragon Quest."

Behoimu: Recovers more HP.

Behoma: Fully restores a single ally's HP.

Behomurā: Moderately recovers HP for the entire party.

Behomazun: Fully restores the HP of the entire party.

Apparently, the trick was in the skill system.

This skill, as the name suggests, is a magic that expands the effect of the chanted magic to a certain range.

When you use this skill to specify a range and then use recovery magic, you can apply recovery magic to all creatures in that specified range.

By the way, the mana consumption is about three times higher when specifying a range, so it balances out if you use it on three or more people.

However, the problem is that it recovers all creatures, so it also recovers enemies within the range.

Therefore, it's better to use it like the Revenant (Priest), who was dressed as a monk and taught me this skill, by specifying a range and buffing allies first.

Body enhancement is a skill that is quite self-explanatory.

This skill allows you to strengthen your body by circulating mana inside your body and transmitting it to your muscles and bones.

Using body enhancement strengthens your body in a different way than using Accelerate or Quick.

It's not like your motor skills are clearly improved by magic, like when you use magic, but rather like you can exert about 1.5 times more power than before, as an extension of your original physical ability.

To give an analogy, buff magic is like attaching a powerful external engine to increase speed, and body enhancement is like replacing or tinkering with internal parts to increase speed.

Well, in this way, I was able to get stronger on the eleventh floor without any problems.

"Ho, ho, ho!"

I was scared at first, but now I'm used to running on this path of light.

If you walk on the path of light for a while, there's a gate, and if you defeat the monsters on the stage beyond the gate, the next path of light continues.

By the way, it's possible to go back through the gate, and I would go back the way I came after fighting four rounds, and then do three battles, repeating the battles as a set of seven.

However, the leveling up here is also approaching its limit.

I can still raise my skill LV, but apparently, skills don't grow very easily, so I can't just focus on that.

So I dared to go forward from where I had been turning back until now, and came to the gate that would lead to the twelfth floor.

"..."

That gate, unlike the divine gates of light that had been opening until now, was pitch black.

The matte black gate, which had no gloss at all, had no decorations at all, and gave a somewhat simple and sturdy impression.

I thought of this floor as a floor that imitated heaven.

If so, what on earth is this gate further down from heaven?

What lies beyond is hell, or...?

Nervously, I slowly touched the gate.

I pushed the heavy gate with all my strength and entered the darkness.

What was there was... a large bouquet of colorful flowers and a white coffin placed to be surrounded by them--.
