035 Enchant:
Fire

"Rosalina, I'm
going to cast Enchant: Fire now. Just bear with it a little longer."
"No
problem!"
I solidified the image
of activating the spell and cast Enchant: Fire.
I felt something drain
from me. My MP was consumed. Other jobs had skills that consumed MP, but I
never felt the MP depleted. The Enchanter seemed sensitive to MP consumption.
A small, charming
flame, like a candle, flew towards Rosalina and clung to her arm. The fire then
flared up and engulfed Rosalina's fist. Huh, isn't it hot?
"Rosalina, are
you okay?"
"I am completely
fine!" Rosalina replied. She dodged the Gargoyle's attack, then kicked off
the floor upon landing and charged at the Gargoyle. It was good that her
movements weren't hindered. If they were, I would have deemed it a useless
skill.
The moment she
punched, the flame on her fist burned the Gargoyle. The Gargoyle's HP, which
had only been decreasing by 1 or 2 points, dropped by 83 points with that
single blow. This meant the additional effect shaved off over 80 points. Even
with the Gargoyle's low MIN and MDEF values, could it really deal that much
damage?
As my Enchanter level
increases, the additional effect will probably become even stronger. And if
Rosalina activates her active skills Iron Fist or Kick Attack, and her unique
skill Fighting Spirit, she should deal even more damage. Though, if she
activates Fighting Spirit, I don't think Enchant: Fire will be necessary.
Rosalina defeated the
Gargoyle. She didn't take any hits, but her attacks barely scratched it before.
With Enchant: Fire on her, she easily took it down.
The fact that Rosalina
struggled so much suggests that a party composed only of Swordsmen or Lancers
probably couldn't defeat Gargoyles. Gargoyles are slow due to being made of
stone, but they fly and are very hard. If things went badly, Swordsmen might be
wiped out.
"Rosalina, who
struggled so much, defeated the Gargoyle after receiving Master's magic. What
kind of magic is that Enchant: Fire?" Anneliese asked. Was it a spell even
a Mage like her didn't know?
"Enchant: Fire is
a spell that imbues a target with the fire attribute. It adds a fire-attribute
effect to the attacks of explorers who can only use physical attacks, like
Rosalina, and deals fire-attribute damage to the enemy. For jobs with many
attacks, like Rosalina's, I think it's very effective."
"Such magic
exists... It's like creating a demonic sword with magic." Come to think of
it, there are demonic swords. With an Enchanter, the idea of creating a temporary
demonic sword might not be wrong. Since it's not just Enchant: Fire, I think
it's a job every party would want at least one of.
"The job I got
from the grimoire this time was a rare one called Enchanter," I explained.
Rosalina had picked up the drop items and returned while I was talking.
"Think of an
Enchanter as a job that strengthens allies with magic, instead of attacking
directly," I continued.
"Understood.
Rosalina-san, that sounds good for you, isn't it?" Anneliese said.
"Yes!"
Rosalina replied energetically, though she probably didn't quite grasp it.
Still, since she'll respond instinctively, that's fine.
"However, Master,
you're as unreasonable as ever."
"Hm?"
"Normally, you
can't change jobs without going to a temple," she said.
It's too late to worry
about that now.
"And all the jobs
you acquire are rare ones."
I've thought that too.
I happened to acquire Hero of the Two-Handed Sword and Sword Master because I
met their acquisition conditions, but this Enchanter is entirely a matter of
luck. 1 in 10,000 is something that rarely appears.
"Mages themselves
are rare, but you managed to draw an even rarer Enchanter. As expected of
Master!"
"As
expected!" Rosalina chimed in, not really understanding but going along
with the flow. I gently patted her head.
"You understand
this, but all talk about my jobs is a secret, okay?" I warned.
"Of course, I
understand completely," Anneliese replied.
"Yes!"
Rosalina affirmed.
To be honest, my Hero
of the Two-Handed Sword job is now Level 14, and I learned the Ice Slash skill
at Level 10. This Ice Slash is a skill that launches an ice-attribute slash,
perfect for attacking flying Gargoyles, and because it's an ice-attribute
attack, it deals damage effectively.

That day, we
progressed halfway through the 6th floor and then exited the dungeon. If we
went all the way to the boss room, we wouldn't make it back for dinner. Since
the servants were going to prepare such delicious food, not eating it wasn't an
option.
Chef Zoppa's skills
were truly remarkable. He really lived up to his claim of becoming a cook to
eat delicious food himself.
At the Explorer's
Guild, I exchanged our items for money. Thanks to the bandits, I still had
items from the 4th floor in my Item Box, so I exchanged those as well.

※ 6th Floor Total: 7,800 Grill.
The grand total was
105,350 Grill, which was enough to cover the Mondark family's salaries for
three days' worth of item exchanges.
Interestingly, the
Gargoyle's only normal drop item was an F-rank magic stone. Perhaps it's
because they're animated stone statues?
Also, I took home 4
pieces of labyrinth beef dropped from Labyrinth Oxen. It's about 4 kilograms,
so I plan to keep it in my Item Box and take it out periodically. I also
acquired a Petrification Dagger (25,000 Grill), a rare drop from a Gargoyle,
but I decided not to sell it and keep it.
The Petrification
Dagger has a 15 percent chance of activating petrification. I think
petrification would activate if I kept poking at an enemy. By the way, even
when I, an Enchanter, tried to equip it, it still felt heavy. It seems all
swords are a no-go.
This Petrification
Dagger was also sold at Golteo-san's shop, with a retail price of 50,000 Grill.
It's double our exchange value, but I think that's because the Explorer's Guild
is at least involved as an intermediary. It's possible there are even
wholesalers involved.
