[WN] Hidden Reincarnated Hero : Chapter 34

034 If I Used the Grimoire...

We continued, defeating Labyrinth Oxen, and arrived in front of the boss room. Three parties were waiting in line. The 5th-floor boss seemed to be a popular monster.

"Its defense is high, but its attacks are straightforward, and only one appears at a time. That's probably why it's popular," Anneliese explained. Since there's only one and it's easy to handle, it can be hunted relatively safely. Furthermore, the rare drop rate varies by monster, and the 5th-floor boss has a relatively high rare drop rate, making it famous as a lucrative boss. It's what you call a money-making monster.

While listening to this, we rested, and then it was our turn. There were no relics, so the previous party must have defeated the boss safely. Since the defeat method is well-established for this monster, it's unlikely for a party to be wiped out.

The 5th-floor boss was a Labyrinth Great Ox Lv18. It was enormous. Much larger than a regular Labyrinth Ox.

"Haaah!" A deep, heavy thud resonated through my stomach.

"That kid pushed back the Labyrinth Great Ox..."

Rosalina was incredibly powerful. Where did such power come from her slender body?

I also swung my Mithril Two-Handed Sword from the side of the Labyrinth Great Ox. This monster truly only attacks in a straight line. I had thought it was due to the narrow passages when fighting regular Labyrinth Oxen, but it seems to be a characteristic of this monster type.

Since we knew the strategy, we easily defeated the Labyrinth Great Ox. There was no struggle, no injuries.

"Still, you did well to withstand and push back the Labyrinth Great Ox's charge," I said, asking if she could teach me the trick, thinking I might be able to do it too.

"It's not about strength, but timing," Rosalina replied.

"Timing?" I asked.

"When the ox comes charging, you just hit it with a thump," she explained, using gestures. It was an explanation made by a genius. All I understood was that it was about timing.

"A rare Labyrinth Great Ox Horn dropped!" Anneliese exclaimed, holding a large horn.

"Since one of these is worth 11,000 Grill, it truly is a money-making monster," I noted. Even the regular drop, Labyrinth Great Ox Hide, was 3,200 Grill. And since the rare drop rate is good, if you challenge it a few times, a Labyrinth Great Ox Horn will drop. Though not definitive proof, we got one on our first try.

The drawback is the long queues. However, the combat time is short, so the wait isn't too bad. After some thought, I decided to proceed to the 6th floor. I still had some money left. I'd go as deep as possible while I had the chance. That way, my income would inevitably increase.

*

The Explorer's Guild booklet didn't have information on the 6th floor. They simply didn't sell it.

"Anneliese, have you ever explored the 6th floor?" I asked.

"I acquired a grimoire halfway through the 4th floor and then moved my base to the capital, so I haven't explored the 6th floor," Anneliese explained. She had moved her base to the capital shortly after acquiring a grimoire and changing to a Mage, so she had no experience with the 6th floor.

From here on, I would have to map it myself. Fortunately, the Explorer job has Mapping. With Mapping, I wouldn't get lost.

The passages on the 6th floor were more than twice as wide as those on the 5th floor. The already high ceiling was even higher, creating a sense of openness. Would large monsters appear, or would they surround us with a huge number of monsters?

"Alright, let's see what appears," I mused.

The monster that appeared on the 6th floor was a Gargoyle. A flying, demonic stone statue. That's why the ceiling was so high, I thought.

Thanks to Detailed Appraisal, it was easy to grasp the Gargoyle's characteristics. However, reading the appraisal results took time.

"Rosalina, buy me some time," I instructed.

"Yes!" Rosalina sprang forward, jumping and closing in on the Gargoyle, which was flying quite high.

"Hup!" Rosalina's fist struck the Gargoyle.

The Gargoyle's sharp claws lunged at Rosalina, but she kicked the Gargoyle, spun several times in mid-air, and landed. What acrobatic movements! I could never do that.

The Gargoyle was hard, just as its appearance suggested. It was unfazed by Rosalina's attacks.

Detailed Appraisal also showed its VIT was abnormally high, and it had Physical Attack Resistance (Minor) as a skill. "A monster with a skill, that's a first," I thought. With high physical attack resistance, it seemed even Rosalina couldn't defeat it.

Alright, I understood.

"Gargoyles are weak to magic. Hold it off a little longer!" I shouted.

"Yes!" Rosalina replied. Fortunately, I had a grimoire in my Item Box. If I used this, I should be able to become a Mage. There was a slight chance of becoming a Sorcerer, but if that happened, I'd simply rely on Anneliese.

I opened the grimoire, and it was written in different characters than the ones I was familiar with in this world. But for some reason, I could read it. I guess I have a language cheat.

They were called magic characters, and as I read, the magic characters floated up and flew into my eyes. It wasn't uncomfortable, but it was a little scary.

After waiting for a while for the magical sight of characters floating up and entering my eyes, the grimoire seemed to have fulfilled its purpose and quietly disappeared.

I brought up the list of selectable jobs from my status. There it was! But it wasn't what I expected. There was a job called Enchanter there.

·        Enchanter: One who manipulates enhancement magic. Enchanters appear with a probability of 1 in 10,000. Can use Magic Power Enhancement (Minor), Enchant: Hard (Minor), Enchant: Accelerate (Minor), and Enchant: Fire (Minor) skills. Acquisition condition: Use a grimoire.

·        Magic Power Enhancement (Minor): MP value +40, INT value +15, MIN value +10 points. (Passive Skill)

·        Enchant: Hard (Minor): Hardens the target, nullifying all damage. Consumes 8 MP. Duration 10 seconds. Cannot be used for 2 minutes after activation. (Active Skill)

·        Enchant: Accelerate (Minor): Doubles the target's AGI value. Consumes 8 MP. Duration 30 seconds. Cannot be used for 5 minutes after activation. (Active Skill)

·        Enchant: Fire (Minor): Imbues the target with fire attribute. When the target attacks, it deals additional fire attribute damage to the enemy. The power of additional damage depends on the caster's MATK value. Consumes 10 MP. Duration 5 minutes. Cannot be used for 6 minutes after activation. (Active Skill)

Oh, no, I hit the 1 in 10,000 chance. This probability is even worse than the 1 in 30 for a Sorcerer. Why did it have to appear now?

It wasn't a Mage, but I changed jobs.

Job Enchanter Lv1

Magic Magic Power Enhancement (Minor), Enchant: Hard (Minor), Enchant: Accelerate (Minor), Enchant: Fire (Minor)

Unique Skills Detailed Appraisal (Medium), Item Box (Medium)

Job Enchanter Lv1

VIT = 9

AGI = 7

INT = 25

MIN = 20

DEX = 14

ATK = 74

DEF = 42

MATK = 75

MDEF = 60

"Ugh..."

The moment I changed jobs, the Mithril Two-Handed Sword felt incredibly heavy. This was a dangerously heavy weight. I thought my shoulder would dislocate. I stored the Mithril Two-Handed Sword in my Item Box. It felt like the job rejected the weapon. Thinking I couldn't equip swords, I tried equipping the Steel One-Handed Sword, but it was still heavy. The Iron One-Handed Sword was also no good. Furthermore, the Steel Shield was also too heavy to equip. The Iron Shield too.

However, the Steel Breastplate was fine. The Labyrinth Cowhide Headgear, Labyrinth Cowhide Gloves, Labyrinth Cowhide Boots, and Lucky Necklace were also usable. It seemed the weapon slots for holding in my hands were the problem.

"Anneliese. I'm sorry, but could I borrow your staff?" I asked.

"Please, use it as you wish," Anneliese replied, respectfully offering her staff. She's cute no matter what gesture she makes.

The staff wasn't heavy. If this were also out, I'd want to ask what I could equip. I'll have to go look for Enchanter equipment tomorrow.

Job Enchanter Lv1

Race Human

Abilities

HP = 57

MP = 181

STR = 6

VIT = 13

AGI = 7

INT = 26

MIN = 21

DEX = 9

Thanks to the armor, my DEF was decent, but my ATK was pathetic. I guess it meant that Mages and Sorcerers shouldn't rely on physical attacks.
