Chapter 57
Wind Bastard
Translator : PolterGlast
After diligently
leveling up on the tenth floor for a while...
I had completely
gotten used to hunting Elder Liches, and now I could hunt more safely than
before.
Furthermore, I was now
able to defeat them in combat even if the Elder Liches were relatively close to
each other.
The reason for these
changes was probably due to the improvement in the activation speed of my LV 10
magic.
I've heard a saying
that life-threatening combat is better than a hundred training sessions, and at
least in this Alistella, that seemed to be the case.
In a situation where I
didn't know when a new Elder Lich would come, I literally poured my heart and
soul into shortening the time it took to activate magic.
Thanks to that, I can
now extract mana in an instant, and the speed of attribute assignment and magic
construction has also increased significantly.
As a result, the time
required to activate LV 10 magic, which used to take about five seconds, has
now been shortened to less than three seconds.
This shortening is
quite significant.
Being able to fire a
barrage of spells in less than three seconds allows me to defeat opponents
without giving them time to counterattack, enabling one-sided combat.
The Elder Liches,
noticing the combat sound, would come towards me at a greatly increased speed,
but in my current state, even if they were relatively close, I could fire two
spells to defeat the first one, and then fire two more spells at the
approaching Elder Lich to defeat them as well, enabling killing streaks.
However, doing this is
quite a stretch even in my current state, so I only do it when I have enough
concentration left.
Considering the
future, it's definitely better to put myself in a tough situation, so I tried
to do this consecutive combat as much as possible while maintaining a high
level of concentration.
Perhaps because the
Elder Liches are extremely powerful monsters, my LV increases as I defeat them.
The combat time and
number of times shouldn't be that high, but it's more efficient than that Null
Zombie hunting.
Well, as expected, the
intervals between level-ups have recently become longer.
But since I can still
level up, I plan to continue until the very end.
However, Elder Lich's
battles consume a lot of MP.
I use random
teleportation and search, and above all, I have to fire LV 10 magic in rapid
succession to defeat them.
I'd like to reach a
point where I can defeat them with magic other than LV 10 if possible, but...
even with mana recovery, I run out of gas quickly.
By the way, my current
stats are like this.

My LV is about to
reach 200.
Recently, I no longer
feel the fear I felt when I first saw the Elder Liches.
I think I've reached a
level range similar to theirs.
Even at this point, I
think I can probably take on two Elder Liches at the same time and defeat the
Wind Bastard.
But I plan to do that
only after my LV stops increasing completely.
After all, the
eleventh floor awaits me after that.
Until the tenth floor,
I knew what monsters would appear, but from here on, it's completely unknown
territory.
I don't know what kind
of floor it is, and I don't know what monsters will appear.
So I'm thinking of
challenging it with the utmost preparation.
As part of that, I
decided to do some expansion in parallel with leveling up, which has been
slowing down.
Of course, I chose to
strengthen the training room... not the simulation room.
I don't know how far
this [Knight's Holy Remains] continues, but the monsters that will appear in
the future are probably stronger than the Elder Liches.
In that case, I won't
have any trouble leveling up for a while.
So I decided that it's
better to improve my combat skills than to raise my stats slowly.
Besides, if I improve
my combat skills and learn to defeat Elder Liches with less MP, I can fight for
a longer time.
And the current method
of just spamming LV 10 magic will probably reach its limit somewhere.
I decided to take this
as a good opportunity to do something about the combat skills that I had been
neglecting.
And today, my MP
finally fills up.
I finished the battle,
raised my LV by another two levels, returned home, and excitedly replenished my
MP.
Then... clang clang!
I heard a louder sound
than before.
The place I heard it
from was, as expected, my own room.
When I entered the
room... there it was.
Next to the training
room door, a pure white door was enthroned.
I slowly opened it.
There... was a pure
white space.
"Please select an
opponent to train with."
A light board suddenly
appeared.
On it, all the
monsters I had fought so far were lined up.
Scrolling through, I
chose one monster without hesitation.
And then what appeared
there was...
"Clack-clack!"
There appeared--the
Wind Bastard, the Wind Elder Lich, who clacked its teeth as if mocking me.
