067 Royal
Capital Dungeon 6th Floor

We reached the 6th
floor of the royal capital dungeon, and upon returning to the Duke's mansion, I
received a summons from the Duke. I cleaned myself up in the bath and had
dinner with the Duke.
"Were you in the
dungeon?" the Duke asked.
"Yes," I
replied succinctly. He then asked about the number of monsters in the dungeon.
"I didn't feel
there were that many monsters," I stated.
"Right, I
suppose. Since it was just yesterday, it would have been the 1st floor, or at
most the 2nd," the Duke mused. I didn't tell him it was actually the 6th
floor. Moving with Dungeon Move was a secret. I figured it would be troublesome
if it became known.
"His Majesty is
currently ill and confined to bed. The audience is set for the 25th day of the
1st month, and Princess Ermelda, acting as regent in His Majesty's stead, will
preside. Do not be reckless and get injured before then." Oh, so the King
is sick. I haven't heard many rumors about the King. Is he intentionally being
hidden, or is he just an inconspicuous person who doesn't generate rumors?
An audience on the
25th to receive the reward for the demon subjugation, and on the 30th for the
New Year's greetings audience, huh? It's a hassle; I wish it would end quickly.
"Don't worry, I
won't be reckless," I assured him. I even avoided the monster house, so
I'll be fine.
"Regarding the
reward, in addition to the national medal, there will be a grant of 10,000,000
Grill and a demonic sword. Your wife and retainers will also receive medals,
2,000,000 Grill, and a demonic sword or demonic spear." Anneliese seems to
be classified as my wife. I'm totally fine with that. In fact, I welcome it,
but I haven't gotten Anneliese's permission, so there might be complaints. I'd
be disappointed if there were complaints...
"Even demonic
swords?" I asked, surprised.
"Baron
Footscythel will receive one designated as a sacred sword, but your retainers
will receive items of several lower grades," the Duke explained. Gandarvan
and the others already had demonic swords and spears that I enchanted, but I
wondered what kind of items they would receive. It won't be the ones I
enchanted, will it...? No, I'll stop setting up bad flags. Though it might
already be too late.
However, this meal was
bland. It wasn't unappetizing. It just lacked flavor. Recently, I had been
making or having Zoppa make dishes I used to eat in Japan, so the seasoning
seemed richer than the Ducal household's. Curry and rice would be the prime
example of that. Come to think of it, Bachus the Dwarf's hearty cooking was
well-seasoned and delicious. He made many boisterous dishes, but they were
seasoned to my liking. If only he didn't insist on me drinking so much, he'd be
a good guy. Thanks to him, I've even become able to change jobs to Heavy
Drinker.

I still had some time
before the audience, so I entered the dungeon today as well. As soon as I
entered, I used Dungeon Move to teleport to the 6th floor. The first monsters
on the 6th floor were Little Elephant Lv17 and Little Eye Lv18.
The Little Elephant
was a small elephant-shaped monster. It had six tusks and eight legs. Its trunk
was about three times its body length and it used it like a spear. It had high
DEF and MDEF, making it an excellent monster in both offense and defense.
The Little Eye was a
monster with a single eyeball and bat wings. Despite being "little,"
its eyeball was 1 meter in diameter. I wondered if there were even larger
eyeball monsters.
The Little Eye fired a
beam from its pupil. Gandarvan blocked it. It was considerably hot, but
Gandarvan didn't flinch.
"Haaah! Triple
Slash!" Jojok activated his Triple Slash skill towards the Little
Elephant. The Little Elephant vanished without much resistance.
"Hup! Power
Lance!" Lin, leaping over Gandarvan and Jojok, activated her Power Lance
skill. The agile Lin used her spear like a pole vault, performing acrobatic
movements. The Little Eye vanished instantly. It was like a mobile artillery
piece, specializing in high-damage ranged attacks, so its defense was low.
The drop items were a
rare drop, an ivory tusk, from the Little Elephant, and normal drop eye drops
from the Little Eye. Ivory tusks were apparently used for crafts, but also for
weapons like swords and spears. The ivory in this other world seemed to be a
material similar to metal.
Monsters on the 6th
floor always appeared in groups. They came in sets of Little Elephant and
Little Eye. Sometimes it was one of each, sometimes one Little Eye and multiple
Little Elephants. There was one time there were four Little Elephants, but
still only one Little Eye. I thought it would be difficult to deal with if our
levels were lower, but we didn't struggle that much.
I, Anneliese,
Gandarvan, Rosalina, Jojok, Lin, and Solidia could all instantly kill them in a
one-on-one fight. Only Bath couldn't quite do that, but since there were never
more than 8 appearing, it was fine. Even if there were more than 8, Rose was
there, and Solidia could summon multiple familiars. As long as it wasn't a
monster house, there was no problem.
The 6th-floor boss
room had a Fang Elephant Lv25 and an Evil Eye Lv27. There was only one Evil
Eye, but there were three Fang Elephants. The Fang Elephants were quite large,
with 8 tusks, 10 legs, and a height of 3 meters. Furthermore, their DEF, MDEF,
and HP were much higher than Little Elephants. Their intention seemed to be to
stop us with these three and have the Evil Eye deal damage.
But that's not going
to happen.
"Can you restrain
the Evil Eye so it can't aim its eye at us?" I asked Rose. Rose affirmed.
Then there was no problem.
"Alright then,
I'll leave the Evil Eye to Rose," I said. Rose floated around me in
affirmation.
"We'll take out
the three Fang Elephants first. Their defense is high, and be careful of their
trunk attacks," I instructed. Everyone nodded. I raised my right hand and
brought it down. With that, Gandarvan, Jojok, and Rosalina charged forward.
Anneliese supported
Gandarvan with her Fire Magic: Firestorm. The scorching flames burned the Fang
Elephant, and Gandarvan's demonic sword plunged into it.
Bath shot an arrow at
the Fang Elephant Jojok was engaging. The Attack Arrow, shot from the Demon
Poison Bow, deeply pierced the Fang Elephant, dealing damage. Bath didn't have
bow skills, but combining the Demon Poison Bow and Attack Arrow granted an
ATK+100 effect. This was the highest bonus among the weapons we were currently
equipped with. The poison's additional effect didn't activate or was resisted,
but I wasn't expecting debuffs from a boss opponent anyway.
Solidia summoned three
ghosts. When she combined the three black, round ghosts using Familiar
Synthesis, they became a remodeled ghost with a humanoid, shadowy body.
"Terror
Hand!" The modified ghost touched a Fang Elephant. The Fang Elephant,
struck by this, stood on its hind legs and began to tremble in fear. The
panicked Fang Elephant was attacking random places. Rosalina didn't miss this
opportunity and attacked.
"Freezing
Breath!" At Solidia's command, the modified ghost exhaled a freezing
breath. This Freezing Breath didn't deal damage, but it hindered the Fang
Elephant's movements. Perhaps because it wasn't an additional effect of a
weapon, such effects seemed difficult to resist.
I also joined the
attack, and the three Fang Elephants vanished in about a minute. Only the Evil
Eye remained, but it was restrained by Rose's thorny vines and couldn't move.
As expected of Rose, I suppose, but the Evil Eye was too foolish... Everyone
then stabbed the Evil Eye's eye with swords, spears, and arrows, quickly making
it vanish. The Evil Eye was useless.
The drop items were
two Fang Elephant Nose Spears and one Fang Elephant Leather Armor. The nose
spear was an ugly elephant nose spear. I didn't want to use it visually, but
its performance wasn't bad. The rare drop leather armor looked like normal
leather armor, so there was no visual problem. As expected of Fang Elephant
leather armor with high defense, its performance was good.
The Evil Eye's drop
item was Enhanced Eyedrops, which temporarily increased AGI by 10. Considering
its volume, it was an interesting item that could be used dozens of times. I'd
use this when fighting fast monsters.
I immediately used
Dungeon Move to teleport to the 6th-floor boss room after entering the
7th-floor. I made 5 attempts at the 6th-floor boss run to obtain Enhanced
Eyedrops. I acquired 4 Enhanced Eyedrops and one Eye Staff for a Sorcerer. The
Eye Staff was a catalyst for 100 uses of a heat ray, and it would disappear
after 100 uses. I hadn't taken any heat ray attacks from the Evil Eye, so its
power was unknown, but it seemed to be a good item.
