[WN] Hidden Reincarnated Hero : Chapter 108

■■■■■■■■■■

108 Further Synthesis of Combined Jobs

■■■■■■■■■■

Translator : PolterGlast

The 10th floor of the Royal Capital Dungeon.

The monsters that appear here are troublesome. Their Physical Attack Nullification skill makes them immune to attacks from swords and spears.

They are monsters called slimes, about 3 meters tall. Their body, which is close to a sphere, is soft and can take any shape.

They come in red, blue, green, and yellow. Their color indicates their attribute, with red being fire, blue being water, green being wind, and yellow being earth, and they absorb attacks of that attribute. Furthermore, they are a troublesome opponent because attacks of attributes other than their weakness barely do any damage.

Their weaknesses are: fire is weak to water, water is weak to wind, wind is weak to earth, and earth is weak to fire.

Fortunately, my Anneliese has the job of Sage of Love and the Magic Creation skill. This means she can create magic of any attribute.

The slimes' movement speed isn't that fast, but their agility is enough that even I almost lose sight of them. I'd think one vanished, and then I'd get hit. They're incredibly troublesome.

I changed my main job to Assassin and my sub-job to Heroic Sword King, the opposite of my usual setup. With Assassin as my main, my AGI is at its highest.

Even then, I could barely keep up with the slimes' movements with my eyes. It wouldn't be this way if I had put status points into AGI, but they have a speed that Gandarvan and the others can't match.

It's no good if only I can handle them. Reluctantly, we retreated from the 10th floor.

"We might be able to win if we can get a surprise attack, but in a normal fight, we can't keep up with that speed. They're troublesome monsters."

In a safe area before the 9th-floor boss room, we thought of countermeasures for the slimes' speed.

"Could we manage with Bind?"

I considered using my Assassin's Bind skill to seal their movements.

"I believe the Bind skill is supposed to entangle an opponent with a rope made of magic to seal their movements, but would it be effective on those soft-bodied slimes?"

"..."

Slimes have a body that doesn't seem like it could be tied up with a rope.

"The only option is for Anneliese's magic to seal their movements."

"That would only work if we could get the first move. At that speed, I don't think even the Lady's magic would hit them."

"I know, right..."

Everyone's faces were contorted, worried that without getting the first move, it would be a tough fight.

"Now that I think about it, Rosalina and Jojok were able to keep up with that speed, weren't they?"

"It was just a sudden 'heave-ho'-nanodesu!"

"I just reacted to their presence. If physical attacks don't work, there's nothing I can do. I can't even activate a skill to counterattack..."

So Rosalina reacted because she's a natural talent, and Jojok reacted because he's a master.

"My apologies to you two, but that's not much help..."

"Indeed..."

A heavy atmosphere hung in the air.

"And it's not practical to level up with the Orichalcum Golem anymore..."

We're already at a higher level than the Orichalcum Golem. Trying to level up further wouldn't be easy.

I charged into the 10th floor with high spirits, but now I feel incredibly embarrassed. And frustrated.

What's with this gap? Is there really such a huge difference in monster strength between the 9th and 10th floors?

"I could try my Enchanter's Speed Up, but it only works on one person..."

I have the Speed Up skill, which I acquired when my Enchanter reached Level 70. Its proficiency is still "Low," so it only increases speed by 30 percent.

Still, a 30 percent speed boost might be worth a try, but it can only be cast on one person.

Speed Up (Low): Increases speed by 30 percent. MP Cost: 10. Duration: 3 minutes. Unusable for 5 minutes after activation. (Active skill)

This would only help one person. And the cooldown is longer than the duration. This is a problem...

"How long do you think the slime area will last?"

No one answered. They probably didn't know how to respond.

"If it's anything like the 9th floor, slimes will probably appear throughout the entire area."

Gandarvan finally broke the silence.

"I guess so..."

Even among the same slimes, there must be a difference in level. Considering that, we can't easily go deeper.

"Maybe I'll try it alone."

"That is unacceptable! We are well aware of our inadequacy, but we cannot allow you to fight alone, my lord."

It wasn't just Gandarvan who desperately tried to stop me. With no other choice, we decided to take a break and then defeat the Orichalcum Golem a few times before heading back.

As a result, I was able to fulfill my promise with Golteo-san earlier. I'm happy about that, but my feelings are complicated.

After defeating the Orichalcum Golem three times, we returned to the mansion.

I washed away the sweat in the bath with Anneliese. Today, I'm just not in the mood to enjoy Anneliese's OPPAI.

After dinner, I lay in bed, thinking about any possible breakthrough.

As I stared at my status, I discovered an unfamiliar job in the job list, which I hadn't looked at recently.

"What is this?"

Lightning-Fast Hero: One who instantly slays foes with overwhelming speed. Can use the skills Idaten (Low), Slow (Low), and Area Speed (Low). Acquisition condition: By fighting in a self-devised way, defeat a boss monster of a higher level than oneself in under 5 seconds, alone, and at a level of 60 or higher.

Idaten (Low): Increases one's own speed by 50 percent and allies' speed by 30 percent. (Passive skill)

Slow (Low): Manipulates time, stretching the target's time by up to 50 percent. If there are multiple targets, the MP cost increases accordingly. The MP cost is 10 points for every 10 percent time-stretch. (Active skill)

Area Speed (Low): For 10 minutes, increases all allies' AGI by 30 percent. MP Cost: 30. (Active skill)

It seems like this job became available when I defeated the Orichalcum Golem, the boss of the 9th floor.

On our second run, I tried a challenge. Could I defeat the Orichalcum Golem alone?

I put all my status points into STR and tried an 11-hit Vitals Strike with my 10 clones and myself.

At that time, I didn't use Heroic Slash, and I completely depleted the Orichalcum Golem's HP with the fifth hit...

It took about one or two seconds. So, because I defeated the Orichalcum Golem like that, this Lightning-Fast Hero appeared, huh?

I really have a connection to heroes (Eiyuu).

"With this, I might be able to beat the slimes..."

With Slow, I can make the slimes' movements slow, or rather, stretch their time. As a result, their movements should appear slow.

I want to go to the 10th floor right away, but I won't do anything reckless like suddenly using a Level 1 Lightning-Fast Hero job.

With the slimes' levels, a skill with "Low" proficiency might get resisted.

Plus, I’ve got one more job.

Exorcist: One who exorcises demons. Can use the skills Exorcism (Low), Anti-Demon Combat Specialization (Low), and Demon Perception (Low). Acquisition condition: Defeat multiple demons, including a mid-grade demon.

·        Exorcism (Low): Liberates the soul of one possessed by a demon. (Active skill)

·        Anti-Demon Combat Specialization (Low): Can kill demons and seal their souls. (Passive skill) (Active skill during sealing)

·        Demon Perception (Low): Can sense the presence of demons. (Passive skill)

An Exorcist, huh? With this, Lin might be able to acquire it too. Though, I feel like Spear Saint is better.

Also, this Exorcist job can be synthesized with Holy Forgiver. And Exorcist can also be synthesized with Avenger...

The first one makes sense since they're not completely unrelated, but why Exorcist and Avenger?

I'll try it. I'd be happy if Avenger could change for the better through synthesis with Exorcist.

...Hmm. The combined job from this synthesis, Avenging Saint, can be synthesized further with Holy Forgiver? A second synthesis like this has never happened with my previous combined jobs.

I didn't try to combine every single one, so I guess it's okay to think that this is also possible.

"But it seems to really want me to synthesize Holy Forgiver. Fine, let's do it!"

I already have Patricia with the Holy Forgiver job, and Lilith with the Saintess job. I have many priests now. There's no reason for me to cling to the Holy Forgiver job.

Gratitude Saint : One with a holy heart who purifies those with malicious intent. Can use the skills Prayer (Low), Healing (Low), Job Change (Low), Stigmata (Low), Indomitable Saint (Low), The Forgiver (Low), Demon-Slaying Warrior (Low), Limit Break (Low), and the unique skill Karma (Low). This is a unique job, so the only acquisition condition is synthesis (Avenging Saint and Holy Forgiver).

·        Prayer (Low): By offering a prayer for 5 seconds, increases the effectiveness of the Healing and Purification skills for 5 minutes. MP Cost: 2. (Active skill)

·        Healing (Low): Completely heals minor injuries and illnesses. Cannot cure moderate or severe injuries and illnesses. MP Cost: 5. (Active skill)

·        Job Change (Low): Can view a target's available jobs and change their job. MP Cost: 20. (Active skill)

·        Stigmata (Low): Inscribes an unerasable record of a target's sins onto their record card. MP Cost: 100. (Active skill)

·        Indomitable Saint (Low): Has resistance to mental contamination, poison, and curses, and can also exorcise them. (Passive skill) (Active skill when using MP Cost: 5)

·        The Forgiver (Low): Forgives one's sins with a magnanimous heart. MP Cost: 8. (Active skill)

·        Demon-Slaying Warrior (Low): Boasts unparalleled strength in battles against demons and monsters. Can fight in close combat and is proficient with any weapon. Also known as Demon-Slayer. When a demonic entity enters a certain range, their all-status is reduced by 30 percent. (Passive skill)

·        Limit Break (Low): Doubles all of one's status for 5 minutes. MP Cost: 8. All status is halved for 8 minutes after the effect ends. (Active skill)

·        Karma (Low): Unique skill. Bestows a fortune, either good or bad, based on the target's past deeds. MP Cost: 10. (Active skill)

What? A unique skill? Seriously?

Wait a minute, status!

Ah, Karma is in the unique skills section...

I haven't even set Gratitude Saint as my main or sub job yet...

Why?
